I love everything about Sonesta ES, it is my go to place when in san antonio. It's always very comfortable. The stuff is always welcoming and location is excellent. I had to deduct a couple of stars because they are undergoing a renovation and it's quite a mess. It was due for an update and I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's through!
I almost forgot because I I'm a member. I was able to check in an hour and a half early. After driving for 3 hours, that was most welcome!
The renovations.

The location was fine. 20 minutes to Lackland, 20 minutes to riverwalk. Plenty of restaurants nearby. We had a 2 bed/bath suite which was nice for 4 adults. The beds were comfortable and the room was fairly clean. The breakfast was mostly good. The one poor thing was several of the days the sausage was in little pellets that were over cooked and crispy.
The rooms are a bit dated. In fact they came around and did an inspection for a supposed refresh. The primary bath had some mildew growing on the wall, but other than that the room was clean. There was a couch and some kitchen chairs in the living room all of which were NOT comfortable. Also, the icemaker in the fridge did not work.

Location was good, Lots of restaurants and shopping areas around. Rooms would be great if updated/cleaned better.
Breakfast could have been better as there was not selections available due to lack of preparation and machines were broken to limit choices. Scrambled Eggs were very runny or not even available.
Rooms were very dated and could have been cleaner. Basketball court rims were broken.
