Best Western River City Hotel

Bathroom is great for seniors that don't step into tubs.

Didn't see much of staff to ask questions.

Our room was clean, and the king size bed and pillows were comfy. Housekeeping cleaned the room during our stay and made sure we had plenty of towels. MI needed a handicap accessible room because I have a broken ankle & leg. The bathroom had a roll in shower and shower chair which definitely helpful. Sam, who worked the front desk at night was pleasant, kind and helpful. Breakfast was good and had a nice selection of bagels, pastries, sausage, yogurt, waffles and yogurt. Parking was convenient and the hotel's location was excellent. We were in town for ACTFEST and the hotel was a few miles from the Alabama Center for the Arts which was super helpful! It was also close to restaurants and shopping.

The lady that checked us in was rude during our stay. The shower didn't have good water pressure. The water temperature was either super hot or cold. Couldn't get the water to a comfortable temp. The room my husband and I booked was supposed to have a king size bed and a sofa bed to accommodate 3 people. I My daughter needed the sofa bed and I needed a shower chair. We were told that we could switch rooms but it wouldn't have a roll in shower or shower chair. It was either one or the other. Since I have a broken ankle and leg, I needed the roll in shower (I'm in a wheelchair) and shower chair since I cannot stand on my broke leg. We didn't switch rooms. Ourroom was on the first floor and the hallway for some reason had a hill. It made it very difficult for me to get the manual wheelchair up the hill to my room. The last night of our stay, I was wheeling myself to my room and I actually got the wheelchair stuck on top of that hill. My husband was in the room so I had to call him to come get me. There was no one at the front desk or lobby to help, so I'm thankful for my husband. Next time we go to Decatur we will choose a different hotel to stay at.
