AC Hotel by Marriott Boston Cambridge

The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good. We particularly like one of the senor staff in the restaurant. He alwasy came to greet us as soon as we got in, and he explained the menu items and how it worked. The young man worked at the reception destk was very friendly and I enjoyed his giggling. The hotel is conveniently located near a train station. It was hard to walk to the hotel from the station when we arrived, as it was dark and raining. We took an Uber instead. However on the second day, a staff showed us the way, it became very easy to walk to the station.

Other than the senior gentleman in the restaurant who was alway attentive to all the guests, other staff were not so much helpful. The younglady looked at her cell phone in the kitchen and she was not bothered to come out and greet the guests. We had to make an effort to get her attention if we needed to order some menu items.

Modern clean and great staff

Didn't know it was that far away from main Cambridge areas, with no nearby restaurants, but only a 10 minute walk to the metro for access to central Cambridge and Boston

Comfortable wide room. Comfortable bed. Cleaning was ok at arrival, but no cleaning in three nights (but available on request I believe). safe box for 15 inches laptop. large shower with hand shower. Good breakfast for 21$+taxes. The pool was small and not hot, eventually I did not used it. The location is in the Cambridge Innovation park, which is tidy and green, so the atmosphere is relaxing, but nothing to do around. Alewife metro station is 5 minutes walk. The staff was kind. Complimentary coffee in the morning and water in the evening. Overall I had a nice stay. I could have late check-out - very appreciated.

Where I had a very annoying experience was with their payment and communication system. After booking by booking.com ma card was unexpectedly charged the following day (not clear if it was a charge or a pre-charge). Anyway, I tried to contact the hotel via booking.com messaging and did not get any answer, until I contacted booking.com customer service (which by the way is not very reactive, and only by form/email). I could not solve the double charge until I was there for check-in, when by the way it took long time as my confirmed second reservation (for day2 and 3) on booking.com was not visible on their system. At the check-out it was cumbersome to get a proper folio - notwithstanding the staff did their best to solve -, which I needed as I was travelling for business. All these very spoiled my experience, which otherwise would have been good. The hotel management should carefully consider upgrading their booking/communication/payment IT system. Also I would have liked to pay my extra cash, but the hotel is cashless.

Good pruce

The room was not very clean, and housekeeping never cleaned our room during our three-night stay despite saying they would. The room faced a busy road, so it was quite noisy, and the air conditioning was not very effective. Overall, the price was good, but the service and room quality could be improved.
