It is a grand hotel. It can easily be made into a 5 star hotel. The views are amazing from the rooms. The breakfast area is the biggest I have ever seen. The food was plentiful, lots to choose from, the eating room was very spacious. There is walking area and pool to check out after eating, to chill and unwind in that same floor.
I didn't like how the staff were very needy and possesive when it came to charging my credit card. I was asked what % commission for them to add to the bill. It is a conflict of interest if they ask. It is also a way of intimidation and pressure to leave a tip. The customer should tip however he/she wants without anyone breathing down their necks. This is even more shameful for a grand hotel as the Grand Hotel TJ to have emoloyees trying to squeeze out tips from the customers. If there was a top hotel in the world, tips should not even be allowed.
The hotel has an incredible presence. But it is not updated to the current traveler needs. My bedside didn't have an outlet to charge my cell phone.
I got sick from drinking water from the faucet of the restroom. Why do they put glasses there, if they put no water to drink. Or why put a coffee machine in the bedroom, if the customer needs to bring in his/her own water.
I think the hotel is too good for its customers. I didn't see any vending machines. They would look tacky in the lobby, but they can be in a separate room. I wanted to get snacks but it started to rain. I was going to cross the street to an Oxxo but didn't.

The hotel is clean, modern and staff is very friendly. The pool was nice and warm also
I wish they would have more seating and cabanas available around the pool area. There is plenty of wasted space around the perimeter of the pool area. I also wish they were a little more transparent on whether or not we can check in earlier. I took a gamble by showing up early (1pm) and luckily it paid off well for me. The room was ready for me. They use to accommodate like this before in years past. Where when they had unsold rooms the night before, you could call the morning of your arrival and they would confirm if a room was available for you at an earlier time. A few years ago, I drove down there from Los Angeles at 7am to avoid traffic, I was in Tijuana by 9am, and while having breakfast I called and they had the room ready for me. I checked in and was enjoying the pool by 10:30am. That was the best stay ever. I have tried a few times recently to replicate this and it has not happened. Other than that, the hotel is amazing!!!

The proximity to a main road.
Our room was quite outdated, and one of the beds lacked proper support, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. The valet parking situation was also disappointing, as there were only two valet spaces available, forcing us to self-park upon arrival.
The continental breakfast experience felt unnecessarily restrictive. We were asked for our room number and staff called to verify our stay before providing breakfast instructions. Guests were informed that food could only be served once, although drinks were unlimited. Additionally, cups for juice and coffee were not readily available and had to be requested, while the coffee itself was kept behind the counter.
Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations, particularly in terms of accommodations, parking convenience, and guest service during breakfast.
