The place was amazing. Reminded us of our ancestral village home. It was a traditional style machiya. It was almost in a residential neighborhood. There were a lot of convenience stores around. There are three markets nearby. The place is equipped with basic kitchen utensils, kettle and oven so you can cook your own food. It was neat and clean and very cosy.

I love the area! It's so quiet and within walking distance from anything you need. City bus is close by or you can use Go Taxi. The canal and the sake museums are within 15 min walk. Such a beautiful area. The house was very clean and really had a charming feel to it. Very 'slice of life' and authentic Kyoto!
The only things I noticed that could be an issue for someone were that there is no bidet, and that the heater unit for the bedroom wall mounted heater is very loud. I didn't care because I like white noise to sleep, but I could see that bothering others that need silence. However: there is a separate radiator you could move from the kitchen into the bedroom at night if you really wanted to. We never went into the upstairs bedrooms so I cannot attest to those.
