I drove up from the city with my wife and dog to stay for the week, and the place and large property were amazing and gave us everything we were looking for - letting our dog run off leash, enjoying nature, nice sunsets, birdwatching from the back porch and water activities. The surrounding area and locals are very nice as well. Property is on the southwestern corner of Adirondack Park - so there were amazing waterfall and mountain hikes a short drive away. 2 firepits, canoe and paddleboard available (with life vests) and firewood provided with two pits. There are actually two private beaches - so be sure to take advantage of the 2nd one as it's sandier and a little larger. I did all the cooking on the gas grill, but there is a coal one as well. Unbeatable value for the price. Paddle out to the private island and explore, have a beach fire or a picnic with the fish you caught on the way when you get there if you're that good! Convenience store's a 2 min drive away, grocery store 20 min away, but the property gives you complete privacy and seclusion. Cast your device onto the movie theater in the large 2nd recreational building on the property and enjoy a flik or grab the yard games for a competitive match of cornhole and more. My only advice to travelers is to bring bug spray, and condiments and you'll be all set. Steve the host was great and communicative, and we couldn't ask anything more from the place. We'll definitely be returning as this place was a winner.

We really enjoyed our stay at red door! The property was so comfortable and we loved our time at the lake! Steve was so quick to reply with any questions we had and our dog also really loved the space.

Good points: 1. The cabin is clean. 2. Sharon, the property manager, was excellent. She was informative when we arrived, but didn’t bother us all week. 3. It’s a pretty quiet location. 4. Fire pits are well built and camp wood is available. 5. Very nice gas grill! Charcoal grill also available. 6. The garage is nice for storing bikes and stuff you don’t want to drag around. 7. Towels, linens, basic kitchen supplies were plentiful and of good quality. 8. Beds and furniture were comfortable. On the downside: 1. The cabin is technically lake front, and you can see the reservoir through the trees from the cabin, but this is not a cabin on a lake. If you have trouble walking and you don’t have a vehicle that can tolerate a little off road driving, you may want to re-consider. 2. There is nothing going on within 20 minutes drive of the cabin. No restaurants, no bike paths, no great fishing, no organized entertainment. 3. Do not mistake this for a fishing cabin just because it’s on a reservoir. We couldn’t attract a single nibble from shore or from the canoe. We tried all of our lures and live bait and nothing. We decided to drive 1:45 hours to Oswego and we caught our limit of Salmon in a few hours. 4. Besides the canoe, there are no boats available for rent on the reservoir. Bring your own or be happy with the canoe for $20 a day. 5. Something lives in the ceiling over the back porch. It is especially noisy at night. 6. Neighbors like fireworks.
