Great stay
We had a great stay at the Blue Apple Lodge - in particularly enjoying the lovely handwritten notes, fresh chicken eggs and the fire pit.
It’s great that the BAL is dog friendly, too!

A great weekend getaway location, especially with dogs. The lodge was impeccable, every amenity was on hand plus some thoughtful extras were provided for both us and the dogs. Winter is a nice time to visit to take advantage of the lovely fireplace plus less crowds around town. We loved our stay at Blue Apple Lodge and hope to return again one day!

We were incredibly impressed by the Blue Apple Lodge. Every little detail was thought of and planned for from the well-stocked and equipped kitchen to the cozy lay-out to the handwritten notes and personal touches. The place was impeccably clean, there was heaps of chopped firewood for both the inside fireplace and outdoor firepit. Even our pup Lacey was thought of with the doggie treats and suggestions for pet-friendly walks. It was the perfect weekend getaway and we are already booking in to return in August. We highly recommend the Blue Apple Lodge to anyone who wants a restful and peaceful retreat in Bilpin where you really don't need to think of anything other than which wines and cheeses to serve in front of the fire that day...

My partner and I took our Schnauzer with us for a weekend escape in Bilpin, and had a wonderful time! We really loved our stay here - although the lodge is quite small inside, it was cosy, warm and had everything we needed. The lovely handwritten letter on arrival, thoughtful "extra's" such as doggy treats and local ciders were mush appreciated, and the bed was super-comfy. Good quality bedding, bathroom towels, kitchenware and handy things like tea, coffee, oil for cooking were great.
Our dog loved curling up by the indoor fireplace, which heated the lodge beautifully, and she adored running around the lovely fenced backyard, helping us collect sticks for the outdoor firepit. Firewood is provided for both fires, and the indoor fireplace was already loaded and ready to go (we just had to light it). It was lovely to collect the fresh hens eggs and some chilli and herbs from the vegie garden each morning, which we had for brekky both days.
We explored the local area including Bilpin fresh produce markets on the Saturday morning (10am-12 noon) and the dog-friendly Wildwood Gardens ($10 entry pp) which were beautiful with the Autumn leaves and pretty water features. We also went to Bilpin Cider Co (a short drive away), an awesome place to go for lunch or afternoon drinks, with tasty ciders and a great big outdoor space with alpacas and picnic areas (dog friendly too).
All up, we would highly recommend Blue Apple Lodge for a quiet, relaxing weekend escape (either as a couple or solo traveller, and your dog!), and we can't wait to go back soon!

Included in the payment for this property was a cleaning fee as well as a security deposit. The agency kept a significant portion of this money due to unsubstantiated claims that the property required more cleaning than the initial fee for cleaning covered. They have failed to provide evidence of these claims despite it being requested on numerous occasions - and in the end they can and did just walk away with hundreds of dollars of my security deposit with no explanation whatsoever. The property is very small and I spent the entire morning ensuring it was left in immaculate condition before checking out - so the mere suggestion of it costing as much as they claimed in cleaning fees is farcically exorbitant.
Furthermore, there was a plain and simple case of false advertising here. The main reason I booked the property for my family was because it was advertised as having a fire pit - however when I arrived the fire pit was not there. The agents offered an explanation after I arrived at the property, but by then it was too late - if I had known prior I would have rescheduled. I would rightfully assume that the photographs on any property on HomeAway are an accurate depiction of what I should expect, but in this case they were not.
The property looks like Heaven, but my experience in this instance has been absolutely terrible, and it has actually made me anxious to holiday again without the need to take my own photographic evidence of the state of the property upon departure.

Went for a relaxing time away but ended up exhausted, upset and hundreds of $$$$ out of pocket :(

Thankyou for our beautiful weekend getaway at Blue Apple Lodge. We have felt spoilt and so welcome from the moment we arrived. The attention to detail and personal touches such as the handwritten note with goodies have made it a very special experience. What a relaxing, easy going and friendly vibe this place has and Milly (our pup) has loved the new scenery and being able to share a little holiday with us. Thankyou chickens for our yummy, eggy breakfasts! And the fresh basil and mint was amazing in our salad.
Until next time,
Simon and Paula.

Blue Apple Lodge is an extremely serene property that I would recommend for a relaxing getaway. There is a cauldron in the backyard surrounded by benches where you can sit in the evenings, enjoying the peace and quiet with a nice glass of red. There must be some kind of arrangement with the neighbours because every day the stockpile of firewood was always replenished. There is a chicken pen on the property also that you can take and use fresh eggs from. And on top of this, we were able to take our 2 little sausage dogs which made it a nice little family affair.
