Was nice stay with warmly environment

I spotted this place on VRBO/Homeaway and it took me 4+ years to get here from NYC. The pictures are amazing however in person even better. The place is HUGE, spotless. The house comes with a house manager, 2 young ladies who scrub the place every day, 2 security guards and a groundskeeper. Hamidi is the house manager and he does an excellent job of anticipating your every need. We would also highly recommend hiring Chef George who is an excellent cook.
It is 5 minutes drive to the beach and European style supermarkets. Diani airport is less than 5 minutes away , super convenient , you are not disturbed by any aircraft noise.
This unique house is a bucket list item, cannot recommend it enough.

Wundervolle Zeit in einem einzigartigen Haus!
Wir waren knapp 2 ½ Wochen in diesem Traumhaus und wir haben es vom ersten bis zum letzten Tag geliebt! Das Sultan Saka ist eine Oase der Ruhe und für unsere Bedürfnisse in dieser schwierigen Corona-Pandemie genau das, was wir gebraucht haben. Am Tag der Ankunft waren wir überwältigt, obwohl uns die Größenangaben ja bekannt waren. Die Bauweise hat ein bisschen Ähnlichkeit mit einem Loft, aber ohne den kalten industrial touch, der hier durch die Verwendung der Baumaterialien und der ausgefallen Dekoobjekte viel wärmer erscheint.
Während unseres Aufenthaltes haben insbesondere der Pool- & Gartenmann, Saidi, der seiner Tätigkeit mit absoluter Liebe nachgeht und George, der hinzugebuchte Koch, der uns nach Strich und Faden kulinarisch verwöhnt hat, sowie die Security zu unserem absoluten Wohlbefinden beigetragen. Wir empfehlen unbedingt, George hinzuzubuchen; er hat sich äußerst liebevoll vom Frühstück bis zum Dinner um unsere Essenswünsche gekümmert, und auf unseren Wunsch hin sogar den fangfrischen Fisch sehr preiswert besorgt. Daneben gab es - neben dem Frühstück nach Wunsch - jeden Morgen eine Karaffe frisch zubereiteten Safts und wir mussten uns nicht ein einziges Mal darum kümmern, dass Trinkwasser ausreichend vorhanden war. Dass die Damen jeden Tag sehr gründlich gereinigt haben, war gerade in dieser Zeit natürlich auch sehr angenehm. Für die Massage kommt auf Wunsch eine Dame in‘s Haus, eine Liege hierfür ist vorhanden, rund 20€/Stunde. Und selbst für den PCR-Test kam ein Arzt nebst Mitarbeiter vom Diani Beach Hospital ins Haus, das Ergebnis hatten wir 6 Stunden später. Terminvereinbarung über Facebook, alles sehr fortschrittlich! Insgesamt war es das Rundum-Sorglos-Paket!
Anfang März waren nur sehr wenig Touristen in diesem Jahr dort, so dass viele Hotels und Restaurants geschlossen waren. Trotzdem hat man genügend Auswahl, wenn man auswärtig essen gehen möchte, die Qualität des Essens war dort allerdings nicht so gut wie bei George.- Empfehlenswert ist trotzdem das Beachrestaurant des Nomads, allein aufgrund der Location.
Wir sind zu Fuß zum Strand gegangen, haben ausgiebige Strandspaziergänge gemacht und sind mit den TukTuks zurückgekommen, mit diesen erreicht man auch die Supermärkte und die ATMs, es ist vollkommen problemlos.
Katharina und Sam sind wunderbare Vermieter, mit denen wir vor, während und nach unserer Reise, liebevoll Kontakt gehalten haben &, die wir nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen können! Wir kommen bald wieder!

The best villa ever!!!
I stayed with my friends at Sultansaka house over the new year period. Saying that the villa is amazing would be an understatement. It was simply the most exquisite and spacious house I have ever stayed at. It is more grander than the photos and you remain in awe from the first day until you leave.
A very short drive from Ukunda airport and you find yourself in this beautiful picturesque house with everything carefully designed. Katharina was extremely helpful and informative the entire time even though she was not in Diani herself. Chef Joseph and the rest of the team were also amazing and made sure we were fed and that the house was clean at all times.
It is honestly hard to even leave the villa to do other activities in Diani because of the beautiful and warm pool.
If you book at Sultansaka you will definitely not regret it and it is worth every money spent.

My husband and I booked a 5 night stay, and left after 1 night. One word: cockroaches; not just one, but several: 5 or 6 roaches. The property looked worn down compared to the vibrant pictures, description and reviews. I'm not sure when the photos were taken though likely not recent. Buyer beware (seriously).
Upon informing Katharina of the roaches, we requested a refund for the unused nights and the poor conditions of the property. She agreed to the refund, conceding the poor conditions of the property. But, a few hours later, Katharina refused the refund because she felt the cockroaches are part of the property's open concept. Cockroaches are NOT in the description or reviews of this vrbo - if I had seen this, I would have never booked!
I think I see what an open concept means: this property is huge. To keep it ventilated, they keep all the windows and doors open during the day (often at night as well). However, The amount of insects on the property was overwhelming: cockroaches, swarms of ants inside the building, geckos behind couch pillows (those were cute, yet jarring). You could close all the windows and run the A/C - though not without additional fees and significant toil.
Guests must pay for electricity, including A/C. This is NOT listed anywhere in the property details on VRBO. Upon arrival, Katharina introduced the new fee for electricity; we cooperated. Prepare to be stunned on the costs and process.
To get access to electricity, guests need to either trust the property manager to pay and invoice you daily, or take care of this yourself. Think of the latter as setting up utilities while on vacation: read agreements, learn local equipment, payment systems etc. This isn't a 2-minute online setup :) You'd actually require a local sim card, app and full personal account setup. Then visit the meter in the shed daily to ensure you haven't run out of funds. Either pay $20 USD/day OR keep the "open concept" (and bugs)

The property may have once been inhabited by humans, but has now been infested with roaches and other bugs. Before booking this property, know that there are hidden fees and it does not provide as advertised.
PS: the chef's cooking was great. After the cockroaches I was not feeling so great about it, but great while it lasted :)

Great Stay in difficult circumstances
The photos of the property don’t do it justice, it is very spacious and a really lovely place. Shortly after we arrived we had to self isolate due to covid-19, This meant we were heavily reliant on the staff to do shopping etc. They were so kind and helpful, if you had to be holed up somewhere I can’t think of anywhere better, beautiful gardens, lovely pool, monkeys in the trees, birds butterflies . the staff were amazing, we had some great food from George the Chef, who also taught us how to make samosas and did all of our shopping. The gardeners Hamidee and Siadee were funny and knowledgable and the house keeping led by Gentrix did a fab job, all in all a great stay and we hope to return in better circumstances. Katharina was always on hand if we needed any help.

Private Luxusoase
Mein Mann und ich verbrachten knapp 5 Wochen in Katharinas und Sams "Sultansaka House" und hätten uns nicht liebevoller aufgehoben fühlen können.
Vom ersten Kontakt bis zum Abschied hat einfach alles gestimmt.
Wir konnten unsere "Workation" Zeit perfekt genießen und Vormittags mit stabilem WLAN im offenen Wohnbereich arbeiten, um nach dem Lunch am überdachten Sonnenbett am Pool zu entspannen.
Das Haus selbst ist riesengroß, offen und sehr stilvoll designt, der Garten und der Pool hervorragend gepflegt.
Mama Rose und ihr Team haben vor Ort dafür gesorgt, dass wir uns wie in unserem eigenen kleinen Luxushotel fühlen konnten.
Getoppt wurde alles noch von unserem Koch George, der in der gesamten Zeit für unser leibliches Wohl gesorgt hat und von frischem Fisch über gefüllten Hummer bis hin zu Rosinenbrot und marinierter gebratener Ziege vom Grill einfach alles zaubern konnte. Und der mir ohne mit der Wimper zu zucken trotzdem dreimal meine "Spaghetti Bolognese" gekocht hat ;-)
Man kann vom Haus aus prima zu Fuß zum unfassbar schönen Diani Beach laufen (ca. 10-15 Minuten), mit dem TukTuk ist man bereits in 5 Minuten da.
Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es ebenfalls mehrere, wir sind immer zusammen mit George losgefahren, da es sich doch sehr lohnt jemanden dabeizuhaben der weiß, wo es gerade die frischesten Zutaten und das süßeste Obst zu kaufen gibt.
Obwohl wir Katharina und Sam persönlich nie gesehen haben, waren sie immer für uns da und wir hatten die ganze Zeit über das gute Gefühl, Urlaub im Haus von Freunden zu machen - und das beschreibt auch ziemlich gut das Konzept des gesamten Anwesens.
Für uns war es eine traumhafte Zeit und wir bedanken uns von ganzem Herzen für diese Erfahrung!

Amazing hidden small palace in the middle & reality of Ukunda, Kenya.
Overal, we had the most wonderul week in Ukunda, at the Sultansakahaus. Not only is the house a gem, but the staff whom we prefer to describe as now 'friends' made our stay very special. The combination of their care, attention and not to mention the fantastic chef Musa, who could compete with any of the big names - just made our week complete. We did a lot within the community and met many of the locals. The real Africa (we visited the beach for a couple of hours one day only). If anything, we were too busy to even enjoy the pool (would do more the next time for sure).
I highly recommend this property. You feel welcomed & safe. There were just 2 of us, and it would be even much more fun with a family or another couple at least. Oodles of space and plenty to do in Kenya for the more adventurous as we were, or equally ideal for a family who perhaps does want to be pampered, and not move about too much by enjoying the house, the pool and whole experience.
If you go to Africa, you will know what to expect. Use the locals and take in some education during your stay. Best way. We have surely left our hearts in Ukunda and I would love to return one day. It was a great week to reignite my love of Africa and the amazing African people. What an unbelievable experience! The house and staff completely exceeded our expectations. While the beach was a 5 min tuktuk ride away, we didn't miss it at all. The privacy offered at the house made for a much needed relaxing vacation time not just for us but for our kids. They pretty much lived in the pool all day coming out only to eat and sleep. The quiet allowed us time to unwind. The chef Moses waa able to provide delicious meals at request. Susan, Naomi and Katana gave all the support needed to ensure a relaxing time. And a big thank you to Zablon and Kingi. We never had a worrisome thought while they around. Katharina - thank you again!

What an unbelievable experience! The house and staff completely exceeded our expectations. While the beach was a 5 min tuktuk ride away, we didn't miss it at all. The privacy offered at the house made for a much needed relaxing vacation time not just for us but for our kids. They pretty much lived in the pool all day coming out only to eat and sleep. The quiet allowed us time to unwind. The chef Moses waa able to provide delicious meals at request. Susan, Naomi and Katana gave all the support needed to ensure a relaxing time. The staff are so welcoming and wonderful and do absolutely everything to ensure a relaxing and luxurious stay. The food that Moses the cook prepared was fantastic and incredible value. And Rose manages the house and staff and anything you may need with deft and loving efficiency. We will miss them all terribly.

It was AWESOME so quite and laid back. Big house and Miss Rose and Chef Moses made it that more out of this world, I have stayed in all over the world this is number 1 for me. The 2 things that are a hassle is the ride from Mombasa airport 2 hr. a little rough but will be changing with a new bypass, it was still a treat to see the country side. There is an airport close by check to see how much from Mombasa airport to there would be, the other thing was distance to the beach, but easy to get a ride. Beautiful Beach and lots of monkeys, I will be making plans for 2 week in April 2018, Thank you so much for that vacation

Sultan Saka House: Ein Aufenthalt im Paradies
Etwas versteckt, aber trotzdem sehr zentral liegt das Sultan Saka House. Ein weitläufiges, im traditionell afrikanischen Stil gebautes Haus. Der weiße Lehm, die offene Raumaufteilung und die geschmackvolle Einrichtung inmitten von wunderschöner afrikanischer Schnitzkunst schaffen eine absolute Wohlfühl-Atmosphäre.
Als wir das erste Mal dort waren, standen wir erst einmal sprachlos im Eingangsbereich und glaubten fast gar nicht, dass wir für ein paar Wochen, dieses Traumhaus für uns allein haben.
Der Garten des Sultan Saka ist paradiesisch. Der Pool ist immer sauber und Insektenfrei und es gibt zahlreiche sehr ansprechende Möglichkeiten sich hinzulegen und die Seele baumeln zu lassen.
Wir haben schon häufig von Keniatouristen gehört, dass das Essen in den Hotels nicht sonderlich beeindruckt. Das ist im Sultan Saka ganz anders. Frühstück, Mittagessen und Abendessen, sowie Kuchen, Desserts und Kaffee werden in der offenen Küche frisch zubereitet. Egal ob traditionell afrikanisches Essen, Fisch, Fleisch, Gemüse, Nudeln, Reis der Koch ist wirklich ein absoluter Profi und kann alles zubereiten! Besonders gut war das Brot nach deutschem Rezept. Es gibt keinen festgefahrenen Speiseplan, sondern viel Abwechslung. Es hat uns so gut geschmeckt, dass wir einige Rezepte zum nachkochen mit nach Deutschland genommen haben.
Das Personal hat uns alle Wünsche erfüllt! Das Haus ist immer sauber und ordentlich. Die persönlichen Vorlieben der Gäste werden wahrgenommen und es steht ohne das man es mitkriegt alles bereit, was man braucht. Man bekommt immer freundliche Worte und ein offenes Lächeln geschenkt. Die Ausflüge sind super organisiert und man kann sich wirklich sicher fühlen.
Wir waren nun schon zweimal im Sultan Saka House und werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Es ist toll einen Urlaubsort gefunden zu haben, der garantiert, dass sich alle Energiereserven wieder auffüllen. Ein Ort, an dem man einfach alle Sorgen des Alltags vergisst!
Wir können das Sultan Saka House nur wärmstens empfehlen. Im Land der Sonne kann man gar nicht anders, als den perfekten Urlaub zu verbringen.

Unvergleichbar schön!
Mein Aufenthalt in diesem wunderschönen, großzügigen, liebevoll eingerichteten Haus war einfach herrlich.
Der Aufenthalt begann schon damit entspannt, dass bei der Ankunft mitten in der Nacht auf dem Flughafen der vom Vermieter organisierte Abholservice zuverlässig bereit stand und mich sicher ins Ferienhaus gebracht hat.
Bei der Ankunft im Haus war bereits schon alles vorbereitet und nach der herzlichen Begrüßung durch die Mitarbeiter erhielt ich ein leichtes, leckeres Frühstück.
Das ganze Anwesen strahlt eine solch unglaubliche Ruhe aus, die es mir ermöglicht hat, vom ersten Moment an abzuschalten und Kraft zu tanken.
Morgens nach dem Aufstehen habe ich im Pool die Morgensonne genossen. Das unbeschreibliche Licht und die Wärme, die sie verbreitet, konnte einen nur fröhlich stimmen. Danach auf dem riesigen Sunbed bis zum Frühstück den ersten Tee genießen. So fing der Tag schon gut an.
Nach dem Frühstück dann auf den Markt oder an den Strand oder Ausflüge in die nähere Umgebung unternehmen. Alles wurde super durch die Mitarbeiter organisiert.
Und wie habe ich es genossen, die Abende im Freien ausklingen zu lassen und den sternenklaren Himmel zu beobachten, der so zum Greifen nahe war....
Gerade in den Abendstunden gab der Sicherheitsdienst einem das Gefühl von Sicherheit und Geborgenheit.
Zu erwähnen ist unbedingt noch der Kochservice, der einen unglaublichen Erholungswert hat. Sich um nichts kümmern müssen, Wünsche äußern können oder sich überraschen lassen und genießen…... einfach traumhaft. Ob nun einheimische oder internationale Gerichte, Vorspeisen, Nachspeisen oder erst das selbst gebackene Brot und Gebäck, alles lecker!!!!
Man spürt, dass die Freundlichkeit und Fröhlichkeit aller Mitarbeiter von tiefstem Herzen kommt. Es war wie ein Aufenthalt bei lieben Freunden.

Ein Traumurlaub ... magische Räumlichkeiten, mit inspirender Architektur und liebevoll designter Einrichtung, minimalistisch und liebevoll zugleich, berauschend für die Sinne.
Die räumlichen Gegebenheiten werden nur noch von dem betreuendem Team überboten... Danke an die liebevolle Aufnahme an diesem fazinierenden Urlaubsort. Es wurde für alles gesorgt... die Anwesenheit wurde durch die familiäre Art von Rose machte unseren Urlaub zu einem Aufenthalt bei Freunden. Wir sagen DANKE !

Ein Traum wurde wahr!
12 Tage im Sultansaka-House – sie werden für mich unvergesslich bleiben!
Das Haus - großzügig, hell und offen, liebevoll gestaltet und eingerichtet.
Der Garten und der Pool – beides schön groß und sorgfältig gepflegt.
Der Service – Ein Rundum-Sorglos-Paket, kaum zu begreifen:
Der Transfer vom und zum Flughafen - perfekt organisiert.
Der Reinigungs- und Wäscheservice - täglich zuverlässig , gründlich und dabei fast unsichtbar.
Der Sicherheitsservice - unheimlich beruhigend.
Der Kochservice – einfach klasse und lecker, afrikanische und europäische Küche je nach Wunsch.
Der Einkaufservice – ob allein durch den Koch oder zusammen mit ihm, einfach wunderbar.
Dazu noch die geplanten Tagestouren oder die spontanen Ausflüge zum nahe gelegenen Strand, auf den Markt oder ins Dorf – alles wurde liebevoll organisiert.
Was den Urlaub aber so besonders und unvergesslich machte, war das aufmerksame Personal und die Art und Weise, wie sie den Service erbrachten: Stets freundlich und fröhlich (viel Lachen erfüllte das Haus), immer ein freundliches Wort und viele lange, interessante Gespräche bei einer Tasse Tee.
Ob Rose, Violet, Rashid oder Johnston, alle haben dafür gesorgt, dass ich mich trotz Alleinreisens niemals einsam gefühlt habe. Wahrhaftig ein Traumurlaub!

Amazing stay
Für Jeden mit Hang zur Entspannung ein traumhafter Ort.
SultanSaka ist hingebungsvoll eingerichtet und liebevoll arrangiert, um einen den Alltag vergessen zu lassen.
Man begegnete uns offenherzig und freundlich. Das Essen entspricht dem europäischen Konsens und auf Wunsch wird afrikanische Küche gereicht.
Die Umgebung ist attraktiv an Möglichkeiten den Urlaub zu genießen: Strand, Mangroven, Delphine und Meer.
Wir haben eine Safari unternommen und Kontakt zu zuvorkommenden Menschen vor Ort. Das Haus ist großzügig konzipiert, modern ausgestatttet mit traditionell kenianischem Einfluss. Hektik und Stress kommen ab dem Flughafen nicht länger auf. Wir planen bereits unsere nächste Ankunft.

Unbeschreiblich schöner Aufenthalt
Sultansaka ist ein unbeschreiblich schöner, versteckter Flecken Erde !!!!
Meine Frau und ich sind gerade von diesem 10 tägigen Traumurlaub in Kenia zurückgekehrt und können nur sagen, daß man das Sultansakahaus einmal im Leben gesehen und erlebt haben muß. Der Slogan "Welcome to another World" wurde bei weitem übertroffen.Nicht nur durch das Haus und seine einzigartig geschmackvolle Einrichtung, sondern auch durch das äußerst aufmerksame und herzliche Personal (Rose ist das Herz und die Seele des Hauses- eine ware Perle)
Beginnend, durch die von der Vermieterin organisierte Abholung vom Flughafen mit unserem eigenen Mietwagen, den herzlichen Empfang, die Sonnenstunden am Pool in dem wirklich gepflegten Garten, die unvergesslichen Abende auf der Dachterrasse mit abendlicher Meerbrise, den ShoppingService und das unglaublich abwechslungsreiche und suuuuuper-leckere Essen von Absolom dem Koch, den Wasch-und Bügelservice von Rose bis hin zur Massage- es gibt nicht die passenden Worte diesen Aufenthalt zu beschreiben.Zwar liegt Sultansaka nicht wie andere Cottages direkt am Strand, aber jeder zu laufende Meter ist es wert in diesem einmaligen Fereiendomizil Urlaub zu machen.Der nächste Aufenthalt in dieser Oase der Ruhe ist schon geplant.Vielen Dank an das Sultansaka-Team - bis bald
