Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. It was like staying with friends. My husband's favorite part with the fresh baked cookies they put out in the afternoon. So delicious.
I have no complaints whatsoever.

Jailhouse Inn is charming, cozy and friendly. Nice continental breakfast, 10-minute walk to wharf area for shopping and restaurants. Directly across the street from the famed White Horse Tavern.
This may sound silly, but they could do more to play up the building's unique history without being cheesy. The lobby atmosphere is fun, but they could add another vintage photo or two to the rooms themselves, which currently are pretty basic and bare. Also provide more info on the jailhouse history in the lobby . . . there's just a single typed sheet sitting on a table. This didn't affect our stay at all, it's just a suggestion.

Very welcoming reception. our room was available when promised even after a very busy holiday weekend. An impressive response to an unplanned evening electrical blackout in the neighborhood. Guests were provided with flashlights and glo-sticks were quickly placed on stairs to prevent falls. This response to an unexpected event showed the competency and professionalism of the staff. Our king room was large and very clean. As it is a historical hotel, the furnishings are appropriate to the era. Very comfortable bed. Mini refrigerator. Breakfast is nice. Complimentary parking on premises. Location excellent near downtown Thames Street. Highly recommend.
Nothing-very happy

I don’t often give perfect scores on hotel ratings, but The Jailhouse earned it. the ambience was great, the decor perfect with hints of the old jailhouse history, the staff were friendly and accommodating and the rooms large and so comfortable.

This was one of the most comfortable hotels we have ever stayed in - we have travelled at least once a year for the last 26 years. The bed was comfortable for both of us. I like soft, he likes firm. I think it was the pillows. There were 5 on the bed and an extra in the closet. The ones on the bed were so nice, we didn't need the extra. I sleep wedged between pillows even on my super soft bed at home.
The "continental breakfast" was also awesome! In quotes because I am gluten free, dairy free and sugar free. "Continental breakfast" typically means "you won't eat breakfast here". On the contrary, they had fresh blueberries, bananas, apples and hard boiled eggs. So, it is nice to be included in breakfast. I usually have to bring my own.
All of the employees were friendly and helpful. The normal decor was jail-themed and fun. Even the key to our room was made to go with the theme. You slide the key in and you can hear and feel the lock open. We travelled right before Halloween and the hotel did not disappoint on those decorations as well. I was pleasantly surprised to see umbrellas available for use. We remembered to bring ours because we flew in right before a Nor'easter, but the thoughtfulness is refreshing.
This hotel is about a block away from shopping and two blocks from the docks and more shopping. We visited everything we found the first time we wandered into Newport and more. The Mexican restaurant next door was delicious - Perro Salado. We also went to Brick Alley Pub. It was also fantastic!
I thought there was going to be a microwave in our room. Had I known I would have booked the third floor. I was leaning that way in any event. They do not have an elevator, so you have to climb the stairs; but, it wasn't a problem in the least. Next time, I will book the third floor! Nonetheless, there was a microwave to use in the breakfast room.
The coffee was a tad bitter, but palatable just the same. I am just a bit more discerning than I used to be! However, it was available all day, which was also very thoughtful.
