We had a great family vacation staying at Villa Serena - one of our best yet. We were there with our two sons (ages 13 and 15). The villa sits up high on a peninsula and has an amazing view of the water with an infinity pool and spa that gets sun all day long. We had a steady breeze all the time which made for very comfortable temperatures. The villa itself is well laid out and the kitchen and living room have huge doors that open up to the pool and ocean views. Each bedroom also has large doors that open up to ocean views and a small sitting balcony. The villa is very well appointed and everything worked well. The pool with its amazing view was definitely the highlight. It was the perfect temperature and we spent hours in it everyday. It has a fun swim current you can turn on and very cool lighting system at night. The villa itself is situated in the Nonsuch Bay Resort area which is a gated community, but the villa is in a private location with just a few other private villas surrounding it. You do have access to the Nonsuch Resort, pools, beach and restaurants, but we didn't spend anytime there as we loved being at the villa. The resort is also home to an excellent kitesurfing school (40 Knots Kitesurfing) and my eldest son and I both learned how to kitesurf. Other great adventures included Scooter Snorkeling at Galleon Beach, swimming with the stingrays at Stingray City, trips to English and Falmouth Harbour, dinner at Cloggy's and the Antigua Yacht Club and golf at Cedar Valley golf course. There is a great grocery store in St. John (near the airport) called Epicurean and we ended up making almost all our own meals. A rental car is a must and we had a great experience with Pete's Rental Car - they met us right in the airport and picked the car up when we pulled up to the departure drop off. We rented a small SUV which was a good move as the roads have some good sized pot holes and bumps. We also had a chance to meet the villa owner and she could not have been nicer or more helpful. Villa Serena is definitely on our list of places we must visit again.

Villa Serena is an exceptional retreat with plenty of room, a magnificent bay and ocean view and an excellent support staff. We traveled and met with another couple, long-time friends, who enjoyed the stay as much as did we. All the rooms are very comfortable and the view from the common room is just terrific. Bedrooms have air conditioning which we rarely used because of the near constant breezes, plenty of closet space and ample baths. Villa Serena is very well-appointed with a full kitchen that is more that sufficiently stocked for stay at home meals. We took advantage of property manager Necole's offer to prepare an island meal and we were very happy to have done it! A opportunity to sample an authentic dish that included goat stew, red beans and rice, plantains and local vegetables and home-made key lime pie. Evenings on the patio by the lighted pool were very relaxing. Day-time in the pool was delightful for my wife who enjoyed swimming against the current generated by the pool wave mechanism. Villa was great and owners were very responsive and helpful. One word of warning: Do not dine at the Nonsuch Bay Resort restaurant. The servers are indifferent to your needs and poorly informed. The food prepared here is both bland and unimaginative, best likened to what is served at an overpriced hotel buffet or a fund-raising dinner. The wine list is woefully inadequate, as well. Better to take a ride to English Harbour for really great dining.

Missing Villa Serena!
Missing Villa Serena!
We were 2 families of 3 people travelling together. Antigua and Villa Serena was a great escape from our Canadian winter. The villa met all of our expecations. We really enjoyed the open air concept of the villa. Our favourite location was in the hot tub at the end of the day. All six of us fit in there with room to spare! The views were amazing and so soothing. We spent a few nights just star gazing from the patio lounge chairs. Dean was easy to work with. His hostess, Necole, was very sweet and responsive. She checked in on us a few times. There was a plugged toilet that she had serviced within a few hours. Dean recommended a driver, Jerry, that made our vacation over-the-top fantastic. We did a quick stop at the grocery store (Epicurean) by the airport and cooked a fair bit. The kitchen was well stocked with any type of crockery and kitchen wear that you could imagine. We figured out the French coffee press after a few failed attempts. :-) The resort at Nonsuch Bay was nice to stroll through. The walk back can be a bit of chore due to incline but we were happy to work off some of the calories we had consumed. We spent most of our beach days at Half Moon Bay which was only about 10 minutes away by car. There is a great little beach bar there that was very reasonably priced. There are not many restaurants in the area but that wasn't an issue as we had the kitchen and planned our outings to include a few dinners out. It doesn't seem to matter where you stay on the island, everything seems to be 40 minutes away. Nice surprises: The size of the hot tub The small rock climbing wall How much this kids liked foosball Peaceful mornings with coffee & a book overlooking the bay The friendliness of everyone I dealt with booking and during this vacation The ambiance in the dining area while enjoying a bbq after the sun went down Even better ifs.... We thought the pool was heated but when we inquired about getting it warmer was told there would be an additional charge. We prefer our pool warmer than 76-78 degrees The internet was a tad flaky & didn't work in the lower guest room at all. It wasn't a bad thing to be 'off the digital grid' for a while though. Having to provide extra toilet paper. :-) We would definitely look to book Villa Serena again if we come back to Antigua. After touring the whole island and crossing it several times for activities, we felt that it was in a great location and offered a lot of value. Thanks!
