This casita is connected to the main house but you have privacy. The owner is helpful and pleasant. The view of the pond was fun - we saw ducks, geese, birds, beavers, and a turtle, even in February. This is a small local community with some charming areas to explore and reasonable distance to other nearby attractions. We drove the high road to Taos, the Enchanted Circle, and back to Chimayo via the low road. Other nearby places we visited were Bandolier National Monument, Los Alamos, and an evening in Santa Fe to hear local musicians. Chimayo has a famous church, the restaurant Rancho de Chimayo, and is known for weaving. Cell service is poor throughout this area, but the wifi at the casita worked very well for one of us to work remotely, and we used wifi calling with no issues. The best part of our stay was the beauty of the area and living/meeting local residents. We learned so much about the local Chimayo chiles, and the whole area.

Excellent place with very attentive hosts. Close to Santa Fe, Taos, Los Alamos and hiking everywhere. Great place to stay.

I gave this a 4 rating only because we were sitting under the heat dome, and simply trusting in adobe to keep us cool was not enough. IT was great fun visiting with Tom and his neighbors, watching the beavers build the damn, listening to frogs, we even saw a blue heron - huming birds and tons of other birds - Beautiful spot. Ant ehe heat some is not the host's fault. I was just too hot by the end of our time there which is just what it is these days. For my own sake, in future I will make sure wherever I go there is air conditioning. The hot weather was unexpected and unprecedented,

The casita was bigger than expected & more secluded than expected. The one bedroom was king sized & roomy, more than just a bed. The bathroom was huge. The living room was set up so you could relax and look out over the pond. It was great seeing the beaver swim around at dusk, the frogs croaking & lots of birds- several hummingbirds flitted around. Nicely secluded so you didn't have traffic noise. No need for AC, the casita stayed nice & comfortable.
Tom provided a helpful list of restaurants & the breezeway is filled with maps & information for lots of activities & places to see. We had a wonderful time.

This was my second stay at Paradise Pond, and was even more enjoyable than the first. It's in a quiet setting with plenty of woodland to explore and lots of bird and wildlife activity on the pond, but just a quick hop to Santa Fe, and with easy access to Taos and Abiquiu/Ghost Ranch. The casita is spacious, well-equipped, and spotlessly clean. Tom is the perfect host, very friendly and always happy to make travel suggestions. There's also a nice library of maps, brochures, and books on the area that he shares with the guests. The best!

This is a peaceful, lovely place to stay. Tom was so helpful as we figured out where to go and what to see. Wonderful library of local sites. Great location. Highly recommend!

We would like to return to this spot when the weather is a bit warmer and all the vegetation around the pond is greener. We were there in March.
We enjoyed the wildlife and the privacy.

We had a lovely stay at Tom’s casita during the balloon festival, and enjoyed every day even when rain changed our plans. The casita was charming and the location with the pond, wildlife, and beautiful sunsets was memorable. Tom was a great host and provided many amenities making our time there very comfortable. We look forward to visiting again in the future. Thanks, Tom!

Fantastic peaceful spot
We truly loved staying at the casita at Paradise Pond. The space was perfect with everything we needed. Having the pond right outside the door with active beaver, muskrat, and hummingbirds throughout our stay was amazing. It was so peaceful! Tom was a friendly and knowledgeable host. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Gateway for me.
Great place. Tom was great and very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. This was very helpful for me since I had never been in the area before. I would definitely stay again.

Tom is very knowledgeable about his wild acreage, wildlife (the name goose was sitting on her nest, with poppa goose standing guard, turtles sunning on a log, even a beaver swimming on the surface of the pond) and Chimayo in general. While most everything contributed to a relaxing week, the pond makes this rental like none other. The sun drenched brick patio has comfy seating, from which to watch an unending natural world unfold. From sun up to sun down, it's hard to look elsewhere. The only downside, it was hard to leave the serene environment...even for easy day trips to Taos, Sante Fe and of course the church at Chimayo (a 5 minute drive). Quiet, scenic, unpretentious.

Husband And Wife Getaway
It was a beautiful place to stay at. Sitting outside watching the wildlife on the pond in the mornings while drinking coffee was the absolute best. Tom the owner was a big help with letting us know the history of the area and pointing us into the right directions of what we was planning to do while we stayed. I would highly recommend staying here.

Thank you , Tom, for being a great host at this wonderful casita by the pond. We loved to contemplate nature walking your property and gazing at the pond. We explored Chimayo area and it was an easy drive to Santa Fe to visit museums and shop! Bed was comfy and we loved the fireplace!

Beautiful. Quiet. Relaxing.
My husband and I had a wonderful 40th Anniversary getaway at Tom's Casita on Paradise Pond. We loved sitting by the pond and watching wildlife and enjoying the fall color of the surrounding trees. The surrounding property was so pretty and private. The Casita was comfortable and the bed was nice. Tom was so friendly and a great host. Be sure and try the award winning restaurant nearby, Rancho de Chimayo, but we recommend making a reservation. The Sancturio de Chimayo and gift shop is definitely worth a visit too. We'd love to stay here again if we come back.

Casita on Paradise Pond is in a beautiful setting and in a great location if you want to visit both Santa Fe and Taos areas. We can't say enough about the host, Tom, as he went out of his way to attend to any daily needs and when we had major car problems, he took time to help us obtain a rental and allowed us to add to our stay.
It is in a very peaceful and beautiful area of NM. The accommodations met our needs but when WiFi created an issue, he allowed us to login on another network. AT&T cell service was poor but he informed me of WiFI calling on the phone and that solved the problem.
If we were to return to this part of NM, I would stay again.

We adored the size of the casita and its decor. The pond made for great entertainment watching the beavers, ducks, toads, and hummingbirds. Very clean (but a few ants around) and everything we needed for a quiet stay. Host was very available if we needed anything. Great location for getting to several northern New Mexico destinations.

Host was very friendly, but we were hoping for a bit more privacy during our stay... Location was what was expected, property was nice, casita was cute but a bit stuffy... internet was very slow. Overall--basic accommodations on a very pretty property.

Wonderful Casita at Paradise Pond, Chimayo
The Casita is a wonderful, charming place to stay. Also it sits an Paradise Pond, where we watched Malard ducklings and Canadian Gosling swim in the pond and visit our patio. Beaver, turtles and frogs seam and floated. A perfect place to relate and great location from which to explore New Mexico. Made even better by the helpful, charming and friendly owners! We had a truly wonderful time and definitely will return.

Perfect for our small family
Great place to enjoy nature with our five year old. The pond always had something going on and the hiking trails behind the property were awesome. Quiet spot, but less than an hour drive to all sorts of northern New Mexico adventures! We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely peaceful place
We enjoyed our stay. The casita is nicely decorated and the pond is beautiful - especially if you like birdwatching. The radiant heating in the floor kept the place evenly heated and comfortable during the cold weather. There are a lot of great places to explore nearby.

beautiful property, beautiful location; great place to un-plug.
This property is centrally located between Santa Fe and Taos. We made it our "base" for our week stay. You could sit on the small patio and "chill" like on a cruise, watching the ducks and ever changing sky over your "private" pond or drive to the many near by destinations.

Absolutely wonderful in every way.
Jan and Tom are fantastic hosts, and their casita and property couldn't be more beautiful, comfortable, idyllic, peaceful. The pond is truly magical, and the accommodations very comfortable. This is a very special place.
