We have been regular renters at Sunset Island for a decade now. We love the property both in-season and off. This trip, for NYE 2024, there was construction outside our door. The massive cranes blocked our view of the bay and the jackhammer for hours on the first day were upsetting.
Pros-the couches/ beds were comfortable! We love twin beds instead of bunks. There was ample storage in the bedrooms. We didn't use the beach cart or chairs, but it would be great if we were there in the summer. The kitchen was decently stocked to be able to cook a full meal and dessert.
Cons-
Cleanliness: It was clear the cleaners did a quick job, as there were pistachio shells on the kitchen floor/pantry, sticky cards under the placemats on the dining table, sticky tile floors in the bathrooms. An excrement stain was found on the master bedroom quilt. There were dirty dishtowels stuffed in drawers.
Linens: We usually rent through Vacasa and their linen service is much superior. We only received three towels for our 5. The towels were thin/small. There were no bathmats in the bathrooms. This seems like a major liability issue to me. We went to TJ Maxx in town to buy bathmats and towels, which was annoying and an added cost.
Electric: Issues with heating the unit. There is a Google Nest and it was set to 63/ was freezing. Now matter how high we put it, it wouldn't stay warm. Owner contacted/helped.Need more lamps. Can/LED lights harsh and awful. Master closet lights out. Microwave light out.

The property was gorgeous, as was the condo! The little private beach made our stay. There was construction going on which wasn’t the best
but it wasn’t the owners fault, and we were off season so I get it. Proximity to everything was perfect and the host was extremely responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

The condo was perfect for our family getaway. It was clean, furnished with everything we needed for the week, and a perfect base camp for our vacation. And Mehrnaz was so helpful and responsive when we had a little trouble at check-in. We will definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay with a family, it was well equipped for kids, stool for bathroom, shower head detachable for tub time. Beach cart and chairs, pack and play, USB-C docking station and monitor to get a little work done if needed. The apartment was beautiful and well decorated, had everything we needed, we really enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed ourselves very much at sunset island, the unit location was peaceful, clean, well maintained. Amenities are a plenty in this community.

Property is exactly as advertised. Great location. You cannot beat the amenities at Sunset Island. We had our 1.5 yr old and 2.5 yr old with us. Between the small bay beach right outside the condo building to the pool to the water fountain in the center, we never ran out of something fun to do. The condo is spacious and clean. Hope to be back next year!

We planned this trip to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday, where she brought 2 of her friends to enjoy a week for a beach vacation and everyone had a wonderful time!
I liked that the property is located in a private gated community that was quiet and family friendly. Mary, the host was wonderful! She communicated all instructions perfectly, so checking in was effortless. The condo was very clean and had every amenity available so you feel right at home. We had a minor issue with a slight backup in the hall bathtub, but Mary called and had a plumber there to rectify it within 48 hours of our arrival.
The view from the balcony was incredible to enjoy the sunrise and sunset each day. The property itself was so quaint and beautiful. My husband and I spent an entire day at the pool enjoying cocktails and beach volleyball. We lucked out with the weather as it was supposed to rain all week, but only had one evening of showers. The walk to the ocean beach took about 10-15 min (not bad). We brought our own beach chairs but never took them out of the car because there were 6 beach chairs and a cart in one of the closets.
I can't thank Mary enough for giving my daughter a wonderful week with her friends to celebrate her 16th birthday! And my husband and I a well needed vacation!

Our family enjoyed our stay in this beautiful condo. Kitchen perfect for all the family meals we cooked-dining room table perfect for those family meals and family game nights. We had a wonderful week-everything was clean and well maintained. Owner very helpful and quick to respond to any questions/concerned. Have stayed in Sunset Island many times this was one of our favorite stays.

We stay at Sunset Island every May when we come down for the car show. This was the first time staying in this unit and we loved it! One of the most beautiful sunrise views on the island. Every room has a smart TV for Disney+, Netflix, etc. The rooms are nice and clean, large bedrooms and bathrooms and a nice open concept. There’s a elevator, which makes loading and unloading your luggage very convenient. It’s location is right next to one of the 3 beaches on the island, and just a short walk to the indoor pool. The host was the best!! Great communication, very informative, super helpful. Check in / check out was also very easy and quick.

Beautifully decorated condo. Perfect for our family - everyone slept great! Had a little confusion at check-in with where to go and the key code, but that was quickly resolved. Our 2yr. olds LOVED the pool and the beach. You can literally just walk to the bay beach from the condo. Great location - close to Dead Freddies and Seacrets.

We had an excellent stay! We traveled with our 3 year old son and 6 month old daughter, the amenities throughout did not disappoint! We spent our entire vacation on the private beach and pool! We will be coming back!

My family of four enjoyed our week in OCMD - and at Sunset Island. Mary is incredibly responsive and helpful! Her condo is in a fantastic location, right by the walking path and private beach. My kids have many food allergies so a well-stocked kitchen was very important and this condo had everything (utensils, cookware) I needed. We plan on renting this same unit next year. Thank you for a great week!

We had a great week at the condo. The location is the best for us and this is our second time renting this unit. The condo had everything we needed and really appreciated the beach chairs, household supplies, and ease of check-in-/check-out. We love all the amenities of Sunset Island including: pool, beaches, food service, coffee shop/mini mart and the well maintained grounds. Highly recommend this unit.

We all had a great time! Location of this condo is perfect right next to the small bay beach … which was perfect for the kids! They also enjoyed their room with the twin beds! The door in controlled by nest.. with an electronic entry… makes things so much easier.. no keys to carry or forget!!

My family of 6 stayed for a long weekend. The condo was beautiful. Very clean and exactly as expected from pictures. The owner was great to communicate with and went above and beyond to accommodate our request. We loved the neighborhood.

I'm always hesitant when booking a place for my family to stay. We've been mislead a few times. This is not the case with this property. The pictures don't do it justice. As soon as we opened the door, all I could do was smile. Entering the property you can see the Bay. Property was sanitized and very clean upon our arrival. Open floor plan, plenty of personal space while spending time together in the kitchen, dining and living room. Wrap around counter was perfect for serving breakfast. The shell clock was a perfect additional to the not overly beachy decor. Master bath was absolutely beautiful. All bedrooms were spacious. The property has everything you'll need for the perfect vacation. Owner put a lot of love and attention into making this a perfect place to stay. Owner checked in with us before and during our stay, because she cares. We will definitely stay again. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!

Such a great place to stay! Perfect location. Quiet for a family/friends quick weekend getaway. The small beach area on the bay was perfect for our toddlers. Still within walking distance to the beach and restaurants.

The apartment is part of a very nice compound, with access to bayside, water was very clean for bay. Kids could take bath right outside the building. The property had a gym, swimming pool etc but we didn’t use them.
The beach was also on walkable distance. We were walkable distance to restaurants etc.
Overall it was a great experience. We found apartment very comfortable and convenient for a family which had people from ranging from 8 year olds, teens to adults.

We really enjoyed our stay in this condo. It truly is a great location, right by a private Bay Area. The condo is beautiful and looks exactly as it appears in pictures. It is well maintained. The owner Mary is very friendly, and answered all of my questions immediately. She had everything arranged for us, including a linen rental. We hope to stay again next year!

We stayed at this condo for a week in August! I know I typically ready reviews and they impact my decision so I wanted to be sure I wrote and review for this beautful condo and Sunset Island. Sunset Island is incredible. There is never a reason to leave this community! Quiet, secure, pools, beaches, great restaurant with entertainment, a path/boardwalk around the perimeter for bike rides or walks. We caught some crabs on the crabbing pier and the on-site market was really handy. Our teenagers loved it too and it is also a perfect place for young children. Highly recommend Sunset Island. Now...our condo was PERFECT! Megan was very helpful and thought of everything a visitor would need. The condo was very very clean. The view from the balcony was wonderful with wonderful rocking chairs. Many condos on Snuset Island although nice..do not have this view. Linens were provided which was a huge plus. Plus beach chairs and an umbrella. Literally everything you would need was there. Furnishings were very nice. Pictures looked great but in person even moreso. You can tell they really care about their guests! Will be back for sure!!
