Overall our stay was pleasant; the home is charming but needs a lot of maintenance. it did not feel clean; one of the beds had pieces of leaves in it; house was very hot and musty when we arrived. We had to open several doors to get air moving. Windows were dirty and lots of cobwebs around. Master bedroom mattress needs to be replaced. Was very uncomfortable. The furniture in the house is comfortable but there were a lot of stains etc on couch and chairs in living room. One of our guests uses a Walker and thought it would be helpful to have a chair in shower and toilets that aren’t so low to the floor. We bought a chair and left for future guests that may need assistance in shower.
The location was great in terms of shopping and restaurants. Check in was easy. The house is not visible from the road, so it was a bit hard to find. There is a very nice and pretty patio that we liked the best. The cushions on the furniture had not been cleaned off but once we did that, it was fine. The washer and dryer worked well and we used several times.
The size of the house is very nice for two couples and even three couples would have plenty of room. The heater worked well as weather got colder. The host, Sue was very nice and helpful the day we arrived. We stayed 10 days. In the past we have always stayed in the town of Carmel and although we enjoyed exploring the valley, we will stay in town next time.

Great house with comfortable furniture and beds. The house in a great location and very peaceful. The owners have equipped the house with all you need for the comforts of home. Will definitely stay again and hopefully have more free time to explore all that end of Carmel has to offer. This is also close to several great restaraunts that are enjoyed by the locals.

This house is in the perfect location, 25 minutes away from most popular sites. Completely private house that is super cozy and relaxing and enjoyable to be in. We loved it and would definitely go back.

This was such a lovely stay. The property was conveniently located to many sights, restaurants and wineries. Our two young girls had a wonderful time exploring the property and playing across the street at the playground.

Wonderful setting and great outdoor space. We had a family wedding to attend in town and it was super nice to be so close for the week. House is well stocked with items and spacious. Private. Neat decor and historic oven was fun to use. We will recommend and use again for sure.

The home and beautiful outdoor surroundings were just what I love about Carmel and the valley. The house was perfect with 3 bedrooms, each with its own bath. Lots of room to gather, dine, etc.

The home and beautiful outdoor surroundings were just what I love about Carmel and the valley. The house was perfect with 3 bedrooms, each with its own bath. Lots of room to gather, dine, etc.

As other posters have mentioned, the photos do not do it justice. We were 3 couples and the house was super comfortable - 3 bedrooms each with its own bathroom. We had great weather and spent a lot of time sitting outside in the nicely set up backyard. Would stay there again in a minute!

As nice as the description and pictures are, they really don’t do justice to how wonderful this home is. Tastefully furnished and extremely comfortable. Centrally located in Carmel Valley. This is a great place to just relax in the warm sunshine, or use as a base for outings all around the Monterey Peninsula. We would definitely come again!

There is a trade off for these features. The owner was very pleasant about my concerns when I mentioned them after our 2 month stay. I however believe they should have been addressed BEFORE we arrived. Yard was at one time remarkable and charming. We found the front yard fountain full of smelly algae. My daughter and I spent a day cleaning it out. No screens on windows. Old unusable chairs left out in yard. BBQ was so dirty with old food and grease we did not use it. The old gas stove/oven is a real challenge to use. TV etc. difficult to use. Kitchen well stocked with dishes and utensils. Some very nice serving bowls. There are cupboards and drawers that just need to be cleaned out if renters are expected to use the house for long term as we did.
This lovely old home would work well for a wedding or catered event. Patio is large. My husband said he would not stay here again.
I would strongly recommend renting this VRBO after some yard work and housekeeping were done. I found this home delightful even with its need for care.

Wonderful stay - very roomy (each room has its own bathroom) and made for a perfect time with 6 adults. Backyard is beautifully landscaped with grill and firepit and property is a short walk from breakfast cafes, wineries, and restaurants. Would absolutely stay again!

The restored ranch house has all the conveniences with a farmhouse ambience. A wonderful place to relax with friends and family. As described, this home is very close to the village and easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and tasting rooms. The property is amazing and has plenty of outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy the peaceful environment with deer wandering through from time to time.

Happy New Year
We rented this beautiful property to greet 2020 with a quiet yet fun celebration. It met all our expectations. The property is beautiful and we hope to return in the spring or fall when we can enjoy the great outdoor patio and gardens.

Great location & outdoor space
We came with our toddler and another family with a child. Great space for the kids to wander inside & outside. The turf outside was wonderful as well - helped us be outside but not get too dirty. Older home but well maintained. The boys appreciated the dominos and Jenga games that were available. Walking distance to the village and multiple playgrounds and fields across the street. Great location!

We had a wedding at the Gardner Ranch this home is very close we walk there if needed. We were also close to local wine tastings rooms.

Property served our needs very well. It was for the most part clean. Kitchen needs a good clean out but was ok. Some windows did not have coverings. All in all it was a good and very comfortable home.
