Four friends from across the country shared this comfortable, well equipped home and enjoyed the view, the hot tub, and the deer in the neighborhood. We loved cooking meals together in the beautiful kitchen, the spacious layout, comfortable beds, and private spaces. We were able to access and enjoy the Saturday market, hiking, swimming, kayaking and exploring the area. A wonderful stay, clear and helpful communication and a very special home. Wonderful property for a family gathering. Perfectly outfitted home, spacious yet cozy, great deck, hot tub and fire pit. Home is so private yet not far from amenities. Our second visit there and we will be back again. Thanks also to Lorraine who saw to our every need!

My husband and I had a lovely time at Garry Oaks with our two adult sons and their girlfriends.
First of all, the house was even more spacious than we expected. We had the option of eating at three different tables and of gathering in four different places, so everyone could do as they pleased. The bedrooms were also very roomy, with the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept on in a rental, and they were quite far apart, so as early risers, we didn’t wake the kids, nor did they keep us up when they stayed up late. As an avid cook, I was particularly pleased with the beautiful kitchen, which had all the high-end tools I could possibly want as well as many staple ingredients.
As for the location, the house is up on a hill, so it’s surrounded by trees, and there’s a great view of the water, so we loved relaxing on the deck and sitting around the firepit at night. Although the path that leads to it is bit steep, there’s a beautiful beach nearby, and we were especially happy to discover that the entrance to the extensive network of trails in Channel Ridge was a few blocks away.
At every step of the trip, Lorraine, the property manager, was extremely helpful and seemed to anticipate our every need. Overall, there were so many thoughtful touches that we didn’t feel like we were staying in a rental but rather that the family who lives there was sharing their house with us, so we’d definitely return if we were planning to stay on Salt Spring again.

We very much enjoyed our 5-night stay at the Garry Oaks residence on Salt Spring Island. The home was robustly equipped with high-end appliances, indoor and outdoor furniture, a divine salt-water hot tub, very comfortable beds, towels, and linens, a dream kitchen, and an e-charger in the garage! Charming original art, and crafts, added more beauty to the many indoor spaces. Communication with the VRBO host was prompt, illuminating, and respectful at all times.

One of the best houses we have rented. The house is clean. It has the most equipped kitchen we have seen. The three bedrooms are away from each other. The decorations are delightful. There are lots of supplies. Lorraine the manager response quickly to questions. We would come back.

We had a wonderful relaxing vacation. This lovely spacious home is located in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood and is very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a nice water view from the house and we loved seeing deer on the property.

Fantastic scenic home on remote hillside
We were three adult couples vacationing together and thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property! Everything you thought you needed was available! A kitchen to cook anything in, but yet close enough to anything on the island to enjoy. Loraine, the property manager, quickly responded when we had a need! We would stay there again

This private home is within a short walk to a small beach and an easy drive to restaurants. Kitchen well equipped, relax outside on the deck or inside in two cozy sitting areas - one with TV and other with wood fireplace. We enjoyed our time immensely.

Beautiful home, in a beautiful setting
You won't find a more cared for and thoughtful rental around. The house was very clean, very organized, and had everything you would need for your stay. The kitchen is one area where you often end up missing something but not with this rental. They really have thought of everything.
We all slept so well, the area is a bit remote but that meant very quiet nights/mornings which was just what we needed. A very peaceful setting to get away from it all.
Highly recommend this rental to any families or big groups, it is perfect.

Wonderful stay
A lovely spacious property, a great base for 4-6 adults. Plenty of spaces indoors and outdoors for gathering or quiet time alone. Wonderful large deck to be enjoyed all day for meals and relaxing, watching the deer as they graze and changing views over to distant mountains. Salt Spring has lots to offer and a wonderful week was enjoyed by all of us!

Highly recommend visiting Lavender and black which is a 2 minute drive from the house. We spent six amazing days at this extraordinary property. We absolutely loved our stay. Lorraine was a pleasure to work with, very responsive and professional.
The property is even nicer than the beautiful photos. It is spacious, elegant, comfortable, and thoroughly equipped! The home is obviously a labour of love for the owners and you feel that when you are there. We were a couple and two other adults, so took full advantage of the three bedrooms each with their own ensuite! The deck is huge and has three separate sitting areas. We ate all meals at the dining table on the deck. The views from the deck are incredible, including spectacular sunsets. We cannot recommend this property highly enough and look forward to going back!

Outstanding retreat!
A lovely welcome of wine, flowers, and a personal note. The property itself was fabulous - rooms even larger than images show. Very well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean, full of character. A beautifully quiet spot, with the occasional family of grazing deer visiting. We loved spending hours on the deck either gazing at the ocean view or sharing laughter around the fire pit. Heartily recommend it! Loved visiting Lavender & Black lavender farm nearby, Salt Spring Shine Distillery, Ruckles Park, Salt Spring Cheese, and cooking up a storm with veggies from Farmers Market (accompanied by fresh bread)--particularly as, during this time of Covid, things are much quieter. We appreciated the attention to hygiene practices everywhere. Lorraine, the property manager, was extremely attentive and helpful. We have rented homes all over the world, and this has to be one of our top experiences.

The photos don't do this property justice. A large, comfortable house with every amenity imaginable. A quiet and private location, far from neighbours making it a perfect getaway from urban life. Will be returning at our first opportunity.
