Despite not having ideal weather (hurricane Lee), we had a fantastic stay at the Lobster House. We had the entire property which worked well for my family. The upper-level screened porch was our favorite with panoramic views. The place was clean, Kevin was easy to communicate with, and did I mention the views? Looking east we saw the sunrise and looking west, the sunset over the Bras d'Or Lake. With family in the area, we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

This house is the perfect location to use as a base to travel throughout Cape Breton. It is well equipped, comfortable and has unbeatable views! Perfect place to unwind at the end of a day out with a great deck and sun porch with views of both the sunset and the sunrise. We loved it! Thank you Kevin!

Rented upstairs and downstairs with family (8 adults) for 3 nights in September. It was our anchor point to explore Cape Breton. The house is big, clean, comfortable, and very accommodating. We cooked 2 nights in the excellent upstairs kitchen, enjoyed walks on the pebble beach, and were generally overwhelmed with the views and serenity. The downstairs kitchen looked nice too but we didn't use it.
Upstairs has the outside view deck and a wonderful screened porch where we spent much of our time. When walking to the lake, pay attention to Kevin's advice regarding mosquito repellent. And try to catch a trad session at the Folic'n Folk pub less than 10 minutes away. We all agreed that it was a very enjoyable and memorable stay.

Squeaky clean property with an amazing view on a quiet street. Our group of five loved the home’s layout - places to be quiet, places to gather, and TWO kitchens equipped extremely well. Kevin’s home is very welcoming and we all highly recommend.

We had a great time at the Lobster House! There was enough room for 3 generations of our extended family and the kids even had their own place they could retreat to. The sunroom was a terrific place to sit in and read, especially during a rainy day. The view across the lake, in any weather, is unbeatable!
Kevin is a fantastic host, very responsive! And the information he provided in advance of check-in was so very helpful. Pantry supplies (foil, parchment paper, plastic wrap, coffee filters, salt/pepper, etc) and plentiful towels were much appreciated! Thank you for your hospitality!!!

We had 7 adults, a 2 year old and 2 infants in our group and stayed for a week. We rented the full house both upstairs and downstairs and had plenty of room for everyone without feeling crowded. The property is exactly as described, clean and modern with everything we needed. The views of Bras d’Or were breathtaking. There is a small beach within a 5 minute walk and another a short drive up the road. Beautiful night skies and we had an excellent view of the super moon! There was recent wet weather so mosquito repellent was a must for outdoors especially in the evening but that is to be expected at a rural property. Kevin is wonderful to deal with and was so fast to respond the few times we needed to contact him. Cannot say enough about how responsive and helpful he was. We would all highly recommend and hope to return to this beautiful property.

We rented both top and bottom places. Lots of room for our family. Kevin was attentive to any issues we encountered. Kitchen had everything we needed- knives could use a sharpening, laundry was a bonus, location is beautiful. Alot of driving throughout Cape Breton if you plan to explore the sights, however the cottage is very comfortable for relaxing and staying put. The view of Bras dor lake is exceptional!

We were 3 families with a total of 10 people which included 4 kids 2-8 years old. We had the upper and lower units which both were well equipped.
The kids had a great time flying kites and going down the tracks to the beach. The water was clear and not cold.
We made trips to the Cabot Trail, Baddeck, Bird Island and the Hyland Village in Iona.
Kevin was a great host and available if we needed anything. Same last name but not a relative…that we know of.
Highly recommend! We made lifetime memories.❤️❤️❤️

The Lobster House was one of the best places we have ever stayed. We had both units for our 3 day weekend and everyone was happy with the spacious layout, amenities and the most beautiful views. We can honestly say this place was perfect for us. Kevin is a top notch host and was always super responsive.

We had never been to CBI and it’s remoteness and beauty were all we imagined. The Lobster House provided a fabulous base to return to after a day of exploration - VERY well equipped, VERY comfortable, spectacular view. We were only sorry that our trip was cut short by Hurricane Ian, causing us to depart for the mainland to get out of harms way ahead of the impending storm. We hope to return someday (this was the culmination of a 4000 mile two week road trip) during the summer months and would definitely make Lobster House our home away from home once again. Kevin, thanks for being a responsive and responsible host, we hope you weathered the storm!

Clean, well-appointed house which worked well for 6 adults celebrating a college reunion. The location is a bit remote (an hour from Baddeck and 1 3/4 hours from Cheticamp) but worth it. the sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. Owner very responsive and aided with some simple problems immediately. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Great sleeping porch was bonus.

Cannot say enough good things about our stay at the Lobster House. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there. The views were stunningly beautiful and the lobster house itself was more than we expected. Everything was pristine and nicely finished. We had never stayed at a vacation property where everything was provided for us. Usually we have to rush out to get a few essentials and make do with what is provided. Not so here.
Communication with the owner Kevin was excellent. He was very responsive to all our questions. He suggested that we do a big shop in Antigonish if we needed groceries. Thank you so much for that advice; it was very helpful. He also suggested a few great restaurants. I would add the Red Shoe Cafe in Mabou owned by the Rankins (about 50 minutes away) to the list if you have time. Fabulous food and atmosphere.
All in all, we had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend this property to our friends and family.

Our family planned a reunion in Cape Breton (one of our kids live there). The Lobster House was the perfect venue with lots of space for everyone to hang out and roam around. Our host Kevin was amazing! It was our first time renting through Vrbo and it was a great experience.

One of the best places we’ve stayed at!
Beautiful location and perfect amount of room for our two families of four. Owner was very pleasant and super helpful with any questions we had. We would 1000% stay here again! The two practically private beaches were close and beautiful. We saw some amazing wildlife including eagles and jellyfish! The sea glass has made such a great souvenir :)

Amazing property in a wonderful location!
We loved our stay in Cape Breton and Kevin's property was exactly what we needed to accommodate extended family, a 1 year old and our dogs. The location was beautiful with a lot of things to do and see nearby!

Family Getaway Perfect
Kevin the owner kept me updated and prepared before I even got there, he knew I was driving in from the States and was excellent. The home is perfect for a family getaway. It had open family area and rooms for privacy. We went on walks to the beach and 🔥 fire pit evenings. The view is amazing especially the sunrise. We would love to rent again for our reunions. ~I’m finding it hard to put to words what an amazing place the Lobster House was. This property met, and exceeded, all expectations. Kevin was an excellent host and provided a wealth of information regarding the area. The house and property were outstanding. Our family of four, plus two Mini Australian Shepherds enjoyed every moment of our last minute getaway. Honestly, I think our pups thought the vacation was meant for them! We have a small yard at home and our dogs just LOVE to run and tumble. The expansive lawn provided them ample room to wear themselves out.
~The house was very clean and well cared for. Plenty of amenities were provided. The beds were comfy & there was plenty of space for us all to spread out and relax. The enclosed screen porch was one of our favorite spots.
~The beach just off the edge of the property was paradise. We had it to ourselves almost the entire week. Some days the lake was calm & others a little more choppy, but our kids didn’t want to leave. The water is crystal clear & we spent hours along the shoreline searching for unique rocks. We enjoyed using our kayaks & revelled in the beauty of the area.
~We ventured out each day to do a little light exploring of Cape Breton. The purpose of this trip was to relax & to not have our days booked with places we needed to be. We spent a lovely afternoon on Inverness Beach. Warm water & sea glass, who could ask for more! We visited the Alexander Graham Bell Museum (meh - could have skipped that) BUT...Tom’s Pizza did not disappoint! The Louisville Fortress was fantastic. Wish we had more time to spend exploring there. The staff of reenactors were incredible. We bought fresh lobster, scallops & muscles at the Gillis Seafood Market in North Sydney & enjoyed a few ice cream cones at the local Farmer's Daughter market in Whycocomagh.
~The ferry experience was also a highlight. The kids just loved the whole concept of a cable ferry. Of course the fact that it was free was a major bonus!
~We are already looking forward to booking a return trip to The Lobster House. I must add that I tend to be very uptight & overcome with anxiety when it comes to staying at rental properties because I like things to be clean & comfortable. The last thing I want to do when going on vacation & renting a house is to spend time wiping things down and cleaning up. I am very grateful that we found this listing & that we had such an incredible time. This opportunity was long overdue for our family!

The first view upon entering the driveway is amazing! From there it just gets better. The cottage is very modern with all the amenities. We loved the layout, the covered deck and the screened in sunroom. Both beaches are close and quite nice. This is a nice, private location.

Love the lobster house
My children and I went to this property at the beginning of August, and though we had to self isolate, we had a wonderful time. The home is clean, updated and the owner was more than helpful. I brought my own favourite pan because of past experiences with owners dishes being subpar but discovered quickly that it wasn’t needed. All of Kevin’s pots and pans were non stick. It’s the little things but that made a huge difference! Thanks for a wonderful stay! Highly recommended!

Beautiful lake house
Relaxing stay at the lake and Cape Breton. We were attending Celtic Colours so didn't spend much time at the house. Everything worked fine and Kevin was available by phone for issues. The house is a good drive from many of the venues. Make sure you have all food, etc. as there are no stores nearby. This house would be great in summer; sitting outside, on the screen porch and walking the beach.

Perfect Getaway!
We stayed at the Lobster House for 5 nights with 4 adults and 4 kids (rented whole house) and it was absolutely perfect! The kids loved the amount of land to play and explore and we all enjoyed the beach which is just a short walk away. We spent many hours there!
The house is very well kept and Kevin was great about ensuring we had what we needed during our stay.
The view is simply amazing and relaxing which is exactly what we all needed!
Highly Recommend this location and would definitely rent again if we are in the area.

A Wonderful Getaway
We spent 4 days in Cape Breton at the Lobster House which is truly a place for rest, peace and tranquility. The house is exactly as described, clean and well taken care of. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the views change as wind, sun and moonlight all made every moment different. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we could imagine needing during our stay.
Kevin provided all kinds of information, including a detailed description of our route to the house with pictures of highway and ferry signs which made getting there very easy. He also provided information about all the daily musical happenings so we were able to attend ceilidhs every day which was the main purpose of our trip.
The mid island location worked well for us as we visited many areas to take in sights, listen to music or eat locally. All in all it was a great place to stay and when we return to Cape Breton it will be on our list to reserve.

Baddeck Family Wedding 2019
This property was awesome! We had 10 people and rented the whole house, upstairs and downstairs, it was beautiful, the view was beautiful! We were there for a family wedding, the wedding was at the church in Iona and the reception was in Baddeck at the Inverary. Crossing the Little Narrows Ferry was awesome, never had experienced. Wycocomaugh was awesome and you shouldn't miss Charlene's there. The house had everything we needed! We had 4 children 18 and under and they loved exploring the large property and railroad tracks and beach. This property had everything you needed and Kevin was very helpful through the whole process with any questions we had. Our family couldn't say enough about it. The view was amazing and so relaxing!

Wonderful home, great view
The home is quite new and very comfortable. The beds are comfy, the kitchen is well supplied, the sitting area is comfortable, the wifi is excellent (kept our teenagers happy!). It is really the surroundings and the outdoor spaces that make this place special. We basically lived in the screen room (very comfy seating) and on the large, wrap around porch. There were bald eagles flying by every day, and one early morning, a fox to watch at the edge of the property. The view of the lake is wonderful, particularly for us prairie people. There are two beaches minutes away from the house, and we would walk to one or the other every evening after a day spent exploring Cape Breton. We did not make use of the firepit (hit a spell of freakishly hot weather, the A/C in the unit works well!), but it is a great feature. There was another family staying in the bottom unit when we were there, and there was no issue with noise at all. And they had a baby with them!
The western shore (Inverness, etc.), Sydney and Louisbourg are easily accessible, as is super quaint Baddeck. It was also an easy drive to the western part of Highlands park, walk the Skyline trail and drive the rest of the Cabot trail and still be home for an only slightly late dinner, with two other short stops on the way. The only drawback to Cape Breton, a lot of driving. We only had three days there, and we regret not staying a week. It was our first visit and we will definitely return. The island is so beautiful.
The owner, Kevin, checked in with us on arrival, and was very easy to deal with. I have no doubt he would have been very helpful if any issues had arisen.
