This is our 4th time staying in Hermosa Palms and this house is hands down the best one we’ve stayed in. It is very clean and updated. Exactly like the pictures. Was the perfect size for my husband and son and me. The private pool was great to have. There’s several iguanas that like to hang out in the yard and every day we had 6-8 macaws in the almond trees right by property. We loved sitting out on the deck patio and watching them. The house was very well stocked. Most houses we’ve stayed in don’t even have salt/pepper in the kitchen. There were plenty of towels and pool/beach towels to use. Having the full sized washer and dryer was great too. The beds and pillows were on the very firm side but softer ones is a personal preference. The neighbor’s dogs barked off and on so during the night was a little nuisance. The fans and AC were able to drown them out. We love staying in this neighborhood with it being right on the beach and we love the community pool. And Yo-Yo’s is delicious as well. We had a fabulous week here and it went too fast! We love Costa Rica and would most definitely stay in Debbie’s home again. 💕

Our stay was great from start to finish. Debbie was quick to communicate and another family member who is local communicated with us throughout the trip and was helpful to answer questions and figure out other logistics.
The property is part of a larger house but has its own entrance and is like having your own, private place (common set up for this community). It is well appointed with everything you need from laundry to a fully stocked kitchen. It also has plenty of A/C units to cool you down after being outside in the heat all day. It's a short 2 block walk to the club house and community pool which also gets you to the pool bar/restaurant and beach.
This is a great place to be out of the main area of Jaco and also closer to Manuel Antonio if you are heading that direction.

Perfect Family Getaway
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Casa Alma. It is not easy finding a place that can satisfy six adults at various life stages, as well as a one year old toddler, but this house did it!
PROS: We loved how non-busy the beach was in the mornings and evenings. It gave us lots of room for beautiful pictures and space for our toddler to run and splash in the shallow waves. While it isn’t a good beach for swimming, it is the perfect beach for walking, sunsets, shell hunting, and watching surfers. Having the option for the private pool was great for those that wanted to stick around the house, but our group also really enjoyed the community pool with swim up bar as well. Marco, the property manager, was very attentive and helped us with any issues that we had come up with our stay. Alvaro, the gardener, was extremely friendly and provided us fresh coconuts and bananas for our stay! All in all, the people that we encountered were the BEST and really wanted to make our stay as great as possible. Debbie and Bob were very quick to respond in the lead up to our trip and also had some great recommendations and information at the house to help us plan for restaurants and activities throughout the week.
CONS: It is a vacation home (not a resort), so there were certainly times where there were some inconveniences that were outside of our control (or the control of Debbie and Bob). For example, it is a duplex type set up where there are two separate residences in a shared house. One of our nights in the house, the other resident was housing dogs that barked throughout the entire night. We also had a power outage for one of the mornings, which was a problem for those in our party who appreciated the A/C and wifi, and also made it difficult to get in contact with Marco. If you can survive some of these inconveniences, this is a great place to stay!
In general, our week here went fast and it would have been great to have stretched it out longer. There is a lot to do and see in the area, and we feel as if we barely scratched the surface. Highly recommend making time to go to Manual Antonio for wildlife sightings and the beautiful beach (though do your research first!), as well as Rainmaker for some cool hiking.

Great vacation!
Loved staying at Casa Alma! We enjoyed the location, the pool at the house and also the community pool! Used the swim up bar almost every day and Yo-yo is great! The food and drinks were wonderful. My son fed Don the iguana bananas that lives there :) The only thing that was a concern about the house were the stairs- three of us fell going down them :(

Great Stay at Hermosa Palms
We had a terrific stay at Casa Alma. Perfect location to take day trips up and down the pacific coast. We loved being able to walk to the beach and the community pool that boasts a swim up bar, fresh food and small market. Definitely head to the beach at sunset. We went to local places like the Backyard Beach Bar and Vista Hermosa located directly on Hermosa Beach. The kids loved the private pool and sat outside every morning enjoying the bird watching. We took a day trip to Tortuga, went ATVing, Ziplining and explored the local beaches.

This was a long awaited family vacation. One year in the planning.
We arrived in San José, and drove to the house at 11:00pm. We rented a GPS from the car rental company, but also had downloaded the WAZE App. We used the App all the time. It lets you know of slow traffic and alternate routes. Highly recommend getting an international phone plan for your visit. The drive was easy, a bit dark, but with caution everything went well.
From the time that we arrived at the house, it was everything that I was expecting. The house looks exactly as it did in the pictures, but a lot better - a little hidden paradise.
We all loved being able to swim in the pool after a morning run in the beach, or after a long day sightseeing.
The community pool was amazing and so were the Piña Coladas. I have never had a better one, and I grew up in Puerto Rico. The fish tacos at the bar, were more like fish burritos, they were huge.
I had a one hour massage by the beach, and it was absolutely a delight and so relaxing. Highly recommended.
The AC in the house works great.
It took a while to figure out the washer, sometimes it would take along time to drain, but it was nice to have both, washer and dryer, available. We always had plenty of hot water for showers.
The bed in the master bedroom is very firm, There were plenty of beach towels available, and everything we needed to make a home cooked meal.
The Wi-Fi signal is very strong. At night all six of us were able to connect to the Wi-Fi and text, call or check e-mails.
Marco, the house manager was always available and very helpful. I contacted him before arrival, and he was able to get us some drinks, fruits and breakfast items for the next morning.
There is a small convenience store by the Pool Club House, where you can get drinks and some food as well.
It was really easy to get to Jaco for groceries, dinner or just walk around town. We felt safe at all time. But make sure that you don't walk alone, specially ladies.
We went to Manuel Antonio, Vista los Sueños Adventure park, Rainmaker Park, and Tortuga Island.
The trip to Tortuga Island had its pros and cons. We were picked up and dropped off right at the door of Casa Alma. The food was amazing and so was the trip. However, I would of preferred to have more down time, to relax by the ocean. It was a full packed day.
Bowies Point is a local restaurant very close to the house. The food and service was great.
Thank you Debbie, we had an amazing stay.

A week in paradise!
All I can say is WOW! WOW! WOW!
Planning a trip for 8 adults in a foreign country, a wedding, and dental surgery is VERY stressful HOWEVER the moment I walked into your home at Hermosa Palms, the stress melted away. We decided to walk through your beautiful neighborhood and we found heaven. The stunning black sand beach combined with inviting warm water, like I said…wow.wow.wow. The beach was above and beyond what we ever could have expected. Quiet, secluded and absolutely breathtaking!
I have to say I am hesitant to write a good review, for selfish reasons…I don’t want others to learn about Hermosa Palms at Playa Hermosa, Jaco...I want this little gem to stay a secret.
The house was convenient for daily excursions, but far enough from the Jaco party scene. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. The house was clean and it had everything we needed for our memorable vacation. Enjoying coffee sitting by the pool watching the scarlet macaw’s eating in the tree behind the house, yup, PARADISE FOUND!
The management company and security people were all very friendly! The Wi-Fi was strong, the neighborhood was quiet, any communication was prompt. The pool’s were clean and warm.
The new Beach club was lovely! Yoyo was an absolute sweetheart! Her team, her food, her personality and her drinks were all second to none! She alone is a reason to come back!
Yes, there is always a few flaws, but none that the homeowners had control over, such as the inconsiderate person who allows their little yippie dog to bark, at all hours of the night, outside of our bedroom window (and the lower level bedroom window).
My daughter’s beach wedding on Playa Hermosa was icing on the cake. It was the most breathtaking wedding I have ever seen! I could not have asked for a more perfect day for my daughter to marry her prince charming!
Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to rent your home. Thank you for the enjoyable, unforgettable experience. When we return to the Pacific side of CR, you can bet we will be back!"

Fantastic Way to Experience Costa Rica
The house was fantastic and the advice and directions given were bang on.
There were 7 of us, 4 adults, 3 kids and two families and all kinds of room. We didn't even use the upstairs living room.
Having the private pool on top of the club beach house down the street was amazing. Seeing all the birds right outside of the window when waking was perfect.
Great location and close to everything you need.
Costa Rica was fantastic and having this place to call home for a week made the trip perfect.
Thanks Debbie

Beautiful home in a beautiful location.
We spent a week in the home during our third trip to Hermosa Palms. Debbie was very helpful and the property manager Marco in Costa Rica helped with all the local knowledge. We’d recommend the home and plan to spend a week there next winter.

Nice people
This was our second house we rented this trip and it took a little time to acclimate to what we found. We were greeted at sunset by the six cats that live at the house. They were very aggressive and really wanted their house back. The owner's daughter came the next day and took four of them away, which was nice. Thank you for that! The downstairs living room had different furniture from the pictures, and is not comfortable for more than a few minutes. Watching movies makes your backside go numb. Upstairs only had one chair, and is used as a yoga studio, but it rendered it unusable to us and our three kids. The owner said she would bring another chair but we threw some towels down instead.
My wife had a recommendation for the owner. Don't use white sheets. They show all of the stains from past users. The sheets were pretty gross, pillows were yellow from sweat and saliva and there was cat hair all over. She was not very happy about that. I was so tired every night it didn't matter to me.
The house is very sturdy, no bugs to speak of inside. Everything worked well. The AC was very nice, the pool was perfect and the groundskeepers were super cool. The property manager Marco was very nice, and was around the pool most days if we needed to talk to him about anything.
I don't want to leave a bad review, this place is great, but know what you are renting. You are renting a house, not a resort. No maid service, no trash bags, you take care of everything. This is a great rental, but it could use, as my wife said, a woman's touch.

The perfect springboard for a world of adventures!
We stayed at Casa Alma in Hermosa Palms from April16-23 2017. The weather was hot and humid and our little house pool was perfect for shady swims to give the kids a break from the sun. The house is an easy 5 minute walk to the beach and provided beach towels. There are chairs at the pool that people bring under the palm trees, we spent tons of time in the ocean and pool and loved the little cafe poolside for cocktails and reasonably priced good food that parents and kids all enjoyed (pesto chicken wraps, empanadas, quesadillas, and lots of drinks!). The service was great and we started a tab that we cashed out at the end of the week. Marco the property manager is very responsive and the community is safe and clean. The House was clean and had plenty of room for me, my husband, and four of our kids, we cooked a few meals (grill but no oven) but between the pool cabana and all the adventuring we did, we ate most of our meals out. There is a woman, Mikeal, at the beach that will give you an amazing massage under the swaying palms for $50. THINGS WE LEARNED:almost everyone took American $- downloading the "Ways" map app is great for getting around, just type in the name of the place you are going (ie:Hermosa Palms)and voila- Your rental car will cost at least double of what you thought...you have to buy insurance through a country mandate, we got full coverage & found with the back roads and the driving that was the way to go-We got suckered into a tour guide @ Manuel Antonio, you do NOT need one (although we did see sloths and bats up close that we would have missed)-bring cash for your exit fee out of the country $27 per person- learn to barter - Get a 4x4 car- Jaco is not cheap plan on spending lots of $ and having the most spectacular time of your life! THINGS WE DID: Manuel Antonio National Park, beautiful beached and hiked in with lunch and LOTS of water- Ate dinner at "el Avion"( you will see it!) on our way back to Hermosa Palms, Surf lessons in Jaco (Reimer Centeno 506-8433-8675 will give lessons or hook you up with some great guys)- Zip Lining @ Los Suenos, very safe with great instructors- Taco Bar in Jaco was awesome- Waterfall hike in Carara National Park, for a great workout and views we followed the signs going up from Garabito to Turrubares little hut on the right and we did not go up to the Pura Vida lookout- Costa Cat Catameran tour out to Isla Tortuga, it was a great Finnish with breakfast, lunch, bannana boats, snorkeling

Awesome week in Costa Rica
Awesome week in Costa Rica. The home was perfect for my family of four adults. Everything was neat and clean. There are plenty of linens bath towels and pool towels. There is a small private pool five steps right outside the front door.Debbie and Kelly, the owners, responded very quickly to my emails. The property manager, Marco , was very attentive and eager to make our stay comfortable. The home is close to a great surf beach and common pool area. The tiki bar at the pool is run by a woman named yo-yo. She cooks up fresh food right there on the spot and her drinks are delicious and prices are very reasonable. A half-mile down the road are restaurants bars and surf shops. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and it was very hard to leave. I have been having many sweet dreams about our stay in Costa Rica. Tom and Eileen from New Jersey

That were wonderful days in a nice and cosy house by the ocean!!!
The house is very nice and cosy which looks in reality exactly as on the fotos.
At first, after a long flight, it seemed a bit small and shabby, but after having a rest in the morning next day I found that it's so comfortable and cosy as if it was my own country house. Everything is on the right place. You have all you need in the kitchen and everything else for comfort living.
The space is enough for one really big family or 3 small (as was in our case).
We stayed with a small kid 3-years old (he knows how to swim) and we didn't experience any problems. It was fun to stay in the pool during the hot hours after noon.
There is also a big pool by the ocean which is also very nice.
I should mention the cafe on the beach that serves very tasty and healthy food.
The house itself, the ocean in front of the property and the big pool with the cafe makes this place perfect for staying for a long time without moving anywhere.
Besides there are surfing lessons and board rental right at the condo (you can have the phone number at the cafe for the rental and lessons).
The location of this property is excellent - it's not far from Jaco in a quiet and safe condominium which has security staying on the beach the whole night. So we felt secured. You have to rent a car to get here, but you will anyway, so it's not a problem.
The property manager Marco is very helpful but we didn't have many issues to ask him since everything was functioning properly.
Thanks a lot for the owners of the house for a chance to stay at this perfect place! I wish we could come back again one day!)))

Nice facilities, great location. Pool was used more than expected.
Casa Alma is a good sized, clean, well kept house. The furnishings were comfortable, the kitchen well appointed. The owners have been very pleasant to deal with. We had no issues with anything, really. Beach towels and a couple of boogie boards were available for our use. The place could use a few cheap folding lawn/lounge chairs to carry to the beach. The pool was not something we were really looking for.....but ended up being used a LOT. The entire family agreed that the location and the house were both good choices. It's entirely possible that we will be back.
Hermosa Palms is a very quiet, secure area. The beach was incredible and while we did miss our normal 'ocean view', the walk to the beach took only a few minutes - or 750 steps according to my new Fitbit Christmas present. ;-) Loved the changing wave conditions through the day, ranging from 'friendly' to 'surfable'. Also loved the fact you could walk out for quite some distance before you HAD to swim. Not sure we've been anywhere with such a slow sloping waterfront. Made for great, safe boogie boarding when the waves were up.
The local restaurants were good with several to choose from, and Jaco was only a few minutes drive if you want dozens more choices. There are TONS of tours to go on, surf lessons, sights to see, trinkets to buy (some of them are actually pretty nice), etc in Jaco.
All in all (and I say this even though I was sick in bed for 2 days) it was a wonderful vacation!
