The apartment was well situated. Excellent communication from the hosts. Very thoughtful amenities.

This is not a fault of the owners, but there is a strip club next door open till 5 am, and it has some outdoor space facing the bedroom windows hence it is very loud most nights.

Appt is spacious. Decent equipped. Location is great except for one major disadvantage.

Cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The moist air is leaving it's traces of mushroom in various places. It was smelly after probably long disuse and kitchenware was far from clean. There's a lotta room for improvement there. Also the layout of the bathroom is less than optimal. Putting in a bathtub is nice but not very practical. The biggest disadvantage is the night club across the street. It's not open every night, but bring plenty earplugs if you value a night of sleep before your next excursion.

We liked the apartment a lot. It is cosy, spacious and has lots of light. Kitchen is fully-equipped, all amenities are present, even a washing machine! Beds a bit hard but ok. It is on the third floor which gives you a relaxing view over the rooftops. We also liked the Spanish-style balcony with ample space to have breakfast on in the morning. The location is right in the centre, so you are very near to everything: the shops and restaurants, the harbour. So really a perfect apartment, BUT:

the only thing we didn't like was the noise at night. The apartment is located in a street which has a very loud pub that stays open until way into the night, even until 5 or 6 am. People sit outside on the pavement terrace and talk, shout, sing. To top it all, there is a disco located right opposite which opens Thursday through Saturday from 11pm till 8am. People were shouting, quarreling, throwing things, we hardly slept a wink and it spoilt the fun somewhat for us. Closing the windows kept the noise a bit out, but then it got rather warm inside. It's such a shame because the apartment itself is one of the nicest we have ever stayed at. But if going out is your thing or if you are a sound sleeper, then you couldn't wish for a better place. Apparently the Azores haven't heard about noise pollution yet, or at least measures aren't enforced. Perhaps a tip to the owner: the shower curtain in the bath tub is too long, which we found rather unhygienic because the dirty water gets stuck in it.
