Plenty of beach stuff including chairs and close enough to the beach. Space was wonderful so everyone could spread out. We had boys and girls on first floor so we could have used an extra bathroom down there. Screened porch was so pleasant In the mornings.

This house was perfect for our very large family! There were 16 of us and we all had plenty of space and activities to choose from. The swing set was perfect for the younger kids and the ping pong table and volleyball net were great for the older ones! There were also two bikes that came with the house which was a great surprise! It was a very short walk to the beach access. Hot tub and pool were used daily. We definitely did not run out of things to do in this house. I highly recommend it! The only downside was the amount of bugs on the back deck that were stuck to the windows and sliding door when we arrived. It took away from the gorgeous view of the ocean so I bought a scrub brush and glass cleaner to wash the deck myself. I understand that bugs can’t be helped but the windows could have at least been washed. And just to note....we had two of our personal bikes stolen from under the deck while we were at dinner one night so just be sure to lock things up. Thankfully they didn’t take the house's bikes too!

This was a great house in a fantastic location. Just a very short walk to the public beach access. The house was nice and spacious and I loved the fact that there was a king suite up on the top floor away from the other bedrooms on the other floors. Pool and hot tub were nice and sparkling clean. Definitely a great vacation. The only tiny criticism I have is that the pool and hot tub cleaning person showed up unannounced which was a little unexpected. If that’s a concern to you I would recommend you ask the agency if there are any scheduled maintenance visits in advance.

Everything was as pictured. Great amenities and proximity to beach. Views from the house were great and easy walk to restaurants. We got a lot of use on the decks and outdoor area by pool The only downside was wifi was weak for those working from home and the hot tub wasn’t working our first night.

We recently visited the Outer Banks and stayed at the Whalehead Beach house. We loved the location! We were just about a block away from the public beach entrance which made for very easy access getting on and off the beach. The house was wonderful! It was pretty much as advertised aside from one small note. It had listed a fenced in yard which we were excited about since we were bringing out dog but the yard was in fact no fenced. Just the pool area was fenced. However, we still had a wonderful time and did not effect our stay. The house was nice and clean upon arrival. The kitchen was fully stocked and there were 2 fridges (on the pool level and the kitchen level) which was great for a group of our size! We loved that there were so many amenities available to us! We enjoyed the pool, basketball, volleyball and the outdoor showers were a huge bonus! There were even extra beach chairs and umbrellas we were able to use at the beach. We would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Corolla and we hope to be back ourselves!

This modest home is perfect for a group looking for an affordable stay in beautiful Corolla. The home lacks updated amenities, however, it is still a nice place with pool, hottub, comfortable furniture and bed. It didn't have a Keurig at the time of our stay, but it did have a 12 cup programmable coffee maker. The top floor and balconies provide beautiful views to the ocean. We would have appreciated if the balconies were swept down before we arrived because they were full of spiders and spiderwebs. Also all of the windows didn't have screens. One shortcoming of the house is the shower in the lower level has very low water pressure. I would recommend replacing the shower head. Overall, a great house, very close to the beach and far enough from everything else to give you the "secludedness" you're looking for.

The biggest issue were the millipedes which invaded the downstairs each night. While Carolina shores sent an exterminator, the bugs kept coming. The children had to sleep upstairs because of the issue. I went back and read previous reviews and these bugs have been around since at least June but clearly nothing has been done to remidy the issue.

In addition, for a house that sleeps 15 the kitchen was inadequately stocked with flat wear. We had to buy plastic utensils. Additionally the one burner on the stove didn’t work nor did the ice maker in the freezer.

We visited the rental office at 9am; they offered to call if/when house was cleaned in case we could check in sooner. By 3:45pm, I had not been called and went ahead to the rental office. I was concerned if the house was ready/clean. They said yes, they didn't call me because the cleaning staff had just called to say it was ready. When we opened the door, worms were all over the basement floor. As we started unpacking, the cleaning company showed up at 4:20pm to clean the house! They stated they had not called the office to say the house had been cleaned. Also, we had been offered the 10% military discount at the office (9am) as long as we had documentation. We provided copies of the military ID documentation, and the young woman stated there would be no problem honoring it. Then when offered a 10% discount for the cleaning error, the military discount was retracted. All of this was not communicated well and seemed genuinely unfair. The manager who called me explained the military discount could only be honored at the beginning of the rental process; however, on the booking website and on the lease agreement sent, there are no instructions for handling the military discount. It should have been honored as we were told during check-in, and we should not have been misled by the young woman at the desk who took the documentation. We heard one of the Carolina Shores owners has a military family. With two war veterans (one being my dad 76 yrs old- Vietnam; another Gulf War) and another former army enlisted member in our family and staying in the house, we were highly disappointed and felt disrespected. Also, it appeared we were lied to about the house cleaning. We have vacationed in the outer banks for 13 yrs and this is our first time renting with Carolina Shores. I would be hesitant to rent again with the company based on how our family was treated. Otherwise, the house itself and location was great.

The only issues we had this time were that the pool was not vacuumed when we arrived - (sand at the bottom of pool). There were several millipede type bugs that were all over the bottom floor area - we called the Management company who responded quickly with sending over a pest company to spray, but the problem never really went away the entire stay - with 2 bedrooms on that floor it was less than ideal sleeping conditions.

1 upgrade I would suggest to the owners it to put a ceiling fan in the 3rd bedroom on the second floor.

I would recommend the property and would definitely stay there again.

The only note I would make for future renters is there are a lot of stairs in this house so it would not be a good fit for folks with disabilities or seniors with mobility issues. Great location with the beach views and quick walk to the public beach access, and about 1 mile drive to the drive on beach. Only two complaints where that when we checked in at 4:30 the house was still being cleaned and wasn't ready for another hour. Additionally all of our guest complained about their mattresses being uncomfortable and should be upgraded/replaced. In regards to the property management company, received a phone call on our drive down that we had to pick up the keys in Kitty Hawk as they were closing the Corolla office early which was fine however, they did not notify me that we had to return the keys in Kitty Hawk as well. Try to return the keys to the Corolla office and was surprised to see that it had closed for the season.
