Really pleased with our stay at this apartment. It was very comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom are very modern. It’s located close to a lot of pubs/bars and restaurants, so do expect a little bit of noise at night time, it is a city break after all! Didn’t bother us. Would one hundred percent stay here again. Something to note, if you do have mobility issues, there are a set of steep internal concrete steps to reach this top floor apartment.

Grassmarket 8 #3 is a lovely apartment! We spent 11 nights there with our daughter and her husband, through Christmas and Hogmanay. Impeccably clean, well appointed, and fantastic location, especially during the holidays. I thoroughly enjoyed shopping the Saturday farmers market nearby in order to cook an absolute feast for our Christmas dinner. While we did go out in the street, right out our front door, to watch the fireworks over the Castle, we would have had an even better view if we'd have stayed in and just looked out our bedroom window. There is one thing that I know other's have mentioned, but wish to carry on the thread. The steps to get up to the apartment are a lot. They are not tricky nor uneven....just a lot. We had no problem with them, but to be honest, were winded every single time we got to the top. While we found this flat to be perfect, it is not suitable for anyone not able to manage the steps. Having said that, when I find myself back in Edinburgh, i hope this flat will again be available!

If you are looking to explore the city of Edinburgh the flat is absolutely perfect given everything is within walking distance! A great weekend, and would highly recommend this place to anybody staying in the city!

The flat is very comfortable, with enough room for a family, great central location in town, and a cozy gas fire in the front room. We were slight worried it was going to be noisy being right in the Grassmarket, but it was very quiet at night and we slept very well. Derek was communicative and everything went smoothly.

As the title says, great apartment, great location. Flat was spotless and contained everything we needed. Waking up to an amazing view of the castle from the bedroom was a treat. Lovely view from the living room over Grassmarket. The apartment is perfectly situated for accessing everything Edinburgh has to offer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Edinburgh… my 6 year old lad and 9 year old daughter, loved what the fantastic city had to offer.. Staying at the apartment gave us an excellent central location to everything we wanted to go and see.. the only time we took a taxi was to go to the Zoo, which is too far out to walk to. Everything else was a short walk away. Especially the castle!
On the road outside there was plenty of places to eat and drink and there was a Sainsbury’s local just around the corner…

We had a fabulous few days in the apartment. It was perfectly situated for all the sights we wanted to visit. Had everything we needed and a lovely cosy space to come back to after exploring the city.

Spent three days in Edinburgh and the apartment is so conveniently located to the Castle, Royal Mile and is very walkable to restaurants and local attractions. The apartment is very spacious and well-equipped. Derek was a very responsive host and we really appreciated the treats (fudge and shortbread) and milk and juice upon arrival. Would definitely stay there again. There is a steep staircase to access the apartment, which was no issue for us, but something to others to be aware of.

Absolutely loved this flat in the Grassmarket. Clean, roomy, comfy beds and the perfect location. Would recommend this place to everyone, except those who can't climb 57 steps up to the flat. Those steps didn't deter us at all. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely spacious flat. Great location in heart of city near cafes and the castle. Clean and bright. Three flights of tight winding stairs to get to front door. But worth it. Relatively quiet even though so much was going on in the street during all the august festivals. Bedrooms are to back of flat away from street looking up at the castle. Only complaint was that the stairwell was often smoke filled from cigarette smokers using the bottom area for breaks. The windows in the stairwell did not open so it was quite strong. No fault of owner. They even provide a door pillow so the smoke doesn’t get into apartment. Wonderful visit.

This flat is awesome! Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. And the location is perfect, with a view of Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle! The host provides very clear instructions for arrival and departure. He also has a list of recommended restaurants, which we found very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we had more time to spend in this magnificent city. Everything in the flat is new or like new and it feels like you step into history surrounded by so much Scottish history everywhere you turn. You will not be disappointed if you decide to book. We hope to come back again soon.
There’s also a Stacher.com location on the same street and near the flat where you can pay a few pounds to leave your luggage on the day of departure if you have a full day in the city and don’t want to walk around with your bags.

We were impressed from the start. The place was well laid out with plenty of space. In the front you could look down on the Grassmarket, which is always hopping with people. In the back room you can see Edinburgh Castle…it was so close! The place is convenient to everything we wanted to do in the City. As an added bonus, if there is a concert at the Castle, you can easily enjoy the music from your apartment ( with open windows of course). When we come back to Edinburgh we are staying here again.

I cannot say enough about our stay in Edinburgh. The host was absolutely wonderful. The apartment was in a wonderful location in Grassmarket. It got a little loud at the weekend but that is to be expected being in a lively area. We were conveniently located to everything and within 100 yards to the Hop on Hop off bus, which is highly recommended if you are short on time and want to see as much as possible. I would definitely recommend this apartment.

The place was clean, spacious, and had all of the amenities that we needed for our stay. Great views of the plaza below, and the castle above. Highly recommended!

This flat had a great location just below Edinburgh Castle! There was ample shops and eateries close by! Impressed by the spaciousness and the facilities were updated and in good working order! Definitely recommended to travelers who like to be in the middle of it all!

Have just spent two nights at this wonderful apartment and couldn’t be happier! Amazing size for a city stay and extremely clean and comfy beds! (A must after all the sightseeing!). Excellent communication from Derek making this an outstanding stay!

Our stay at Grassmarket was wonderful. In the center of everything. No issues to report and Derek was very responsive to our questions. Would recommend this property. Just note there are a lot steps leading up to the third floor, great for your leg muscles.

The location is right in city center. Yes, that means that sometimes it is a bit loud at night on the weekend, but we could walk right out the door and be in the center of Edinburgh.
Derek was quick to answer any questions which was very helpful. The apartment is represented well in the pictures. Just know that there are 57 steps up to the apartment in a narrow, circular stairwell. However, the window seats give you a great view over Grassmarket to watch the square below.

The flat was very nice, spacious and comfortable. Very clean and well equipped. Great views of the castle and Grass Market. Definitely a very busy area with lots of fun pubs and restaurants. Only thing to be aware of is Saturday night the nightclub downstairs was quite loud (which would’ve been fine except we we’re leaving really early the next day. Friday night wasn’t loud at all). Would definitely stay here again!

This place was the perfect home away from home! Spacious for our family to relax, we really enjoyed playing the board games that were available.
The location could not be more spot on. From the market just outside, and an easy walk to Victoria & Crown street. Plenty of restaurants pubs and nightlife all nearby.
The views of Edinburgh Castle from the flat were just superb! My only complaint is that we didn't have more time to enjoy all this!
