Location and style

Needed a little building maintenance - damp outer wall in my room

Staff were lovely. The view is exceptional. Breakfast very good.

A few small things would have made staying with kids a lot easier - a small playground in the huge gardens, and a few easy meals for kids on the bar menu would have helped.

The location offers panoramic views over the town and the estuary. Calm and relaxing. The team is always attentive and available. Having breakfast on the terrace with this view is incredible.

The hotel and grounds are spectacular! The rooms could be upgraded a bit Unbeatable view and very nice seating Located a few minutes from the city but close, (nice walk) to the beautiful Santuário. Viana do Castelo is a MUST

service could be better; as often with hotels belonging to Pestana group a lot of untrained or staff in training is used. unfortunately not good enough for this type of hotel, in particular when unsupervised. examples: no attention whatsoever to other guests during one dinner where there was a table hosted by somebody close or important (?) to the hotel - not a good look. One server let the lid fall on the floor and put it right back on the bottle (!); I tried the wine and then my glass was never filled up ... JAs a matter of fact, none of us was even served water. Just a few examples. One of the servers, who happened to be Brazilian (do not remember his name) however was very helpful and attentive, also at breakfast buffet (by the way, the coffee is not great quality nor is the juice, there were a few good quality things to eat though)

The views are amazing, staff were professional, helpful and friendly. A charming property.

location, views were stunning, breakfasts were well presented.

The bathroom was very dated and tatty, badly in need of changing, the bath was peeling and old. The pool was very cold, and set quite away from the hotel.

The view was amazing. The room was very classic and french style. Had dinner downstair in the restaurant and it was nice. I had the most amazing last night in Portugal.

I booked a taxi from hotel reception but taxi driver couldn't drop me off at the correct place. I gave a full address and he refused to look up on GPS. He said he does not have one, and asked me to look up on my phone. I had to guide him with my phone map. He went around and around the place...He kept denied he does not speak good English. I missed the boat and paid more than what I was told from hotel receptionist. Very disappointing experience.
