A lovely old building with some great features.
Some attention to detail needed - maintenance - eg broken floor tiles, crooked floor

Confusion about the brunch prices, so no brunch for us!
The rooms need updating and decorating!
5.0
beautiful grounds and house, quiet location
the room (suite) was very tired, very warm room air con didn’t work as awaiting parts! substitute found but was an extremely noisy fan that meant a restless night.

Great breakfast, big room, good location
overpriced for the quality, not a great hospitality tray in the room (no biscuits), dinner and bar was overpriced

Our welcome was very friendly, no offer of helping with luggage to the room however, the room itself was very clean with a huge bathroom and plenty of towels. The bed itself was comfortable. We had room only basis and travel to Heathrow was very easy and quick.
Beautiful on the outside, unique original and historic features but really needs some TLC in places.
We were kept awake from half 10 at night and then throughout the night by a huge flood which came through the landing roof (apparently the water tank). We asked if we needed to move as it was coming through light fittings and although told not necessary staff continously were trying to catch water in buckets, talking and banging! The receptionist the next morning didn't ask if our stay was OK or thank us for staying.
Our bedroom window didn't shut so we heard every car coming and going on the gravel and then I believe there was a function on as we heard loud music and guests talking in corridors and banging doors in the early hours! It's not somewhere I would stay again which is a shame as it could be beautiful!

We attended our son's wedding at this venue, grounds were beautiful as was the hotel itself, however many of the public areas were very dated and could do with a spruce up,decor was tired and fading, not what we would expect for the price we paid.
I must say the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to make our stay as good as the possibly could.
My other gripe was on the first night of our stay the smoke/fire alarm went off at 3.20am, obviously waking us both, with both of us unable to get back to sleep making the day of the wedding very tiring for us both
As said above, tired decor, and the alarm going off at 3.20 am

The staff were fantastic. They were engaging, helpful and gave one of the best service I have received at receptions.
Answered my queries and really helpful. Will definitely return
Room was abit shabby chic, but I liked it

it was very clean and warm
the shower could do with some matting on the actual shower floor, my partner fell in the
shower and nothing to hold onto either. we didn’t report it at the time but maybe we should of

one reception was very good and the waiter / dining staff were wonderful and very cheery.
great property, however the beds are unaligned with any plug sockets (I needed to bring extension leads with me for the second week). paper thin walls (I was disturbed a number of times during the night with other guests walking to their rooms), showers are at a dribble rate of flow.. possibly due to the old pipe works, bathroom fittings were damaged or broken leaving sharp edges exposed, and windows would not fully close to the expansions from moisture.

The whole day went extremely well. We were attending a Family Wedding---of my wife's Great Grandson. We arrived about 12noon for The Wedding Service at 1pm. We parked our car and proceeded to Reception , where we were directed to our Meeting Point in the Bar. After a few minutes, we were invited to proceed to the Bar outside the Wedding Room* where we waited to be invited into the WR *. We went in about 1pm and The Service started about 1.15--as The Bride's party were late in arriving. The Service was conducted by The Registrar-I think. It was all handled very well. The room was decorated in the most delightful way. It was amazing !!! The Service ended and we all showered The Happy Couple with Rose petals. We were then invited to vacate the room while it was re-arranged to become the Restaurant---to which we returned about 1 hour later--as we were scheduled to partake in The Wedding Breakfast** @ 15.30. This was excellent !! The speeches pre-ceded the WB ** Afterwards, we were again invited to vacate the WR* --while the room was yet again re-configured --this time to The Ballroom ***. . We spent the rest of the evening till about 11.50 dancing, talking and drinking--at which time we were all asked to meet The Happy Couple outside---we did not know why at the time-although we were expecting a Fireworks Display. We all assembled on the rear terrace--The Happy Couple were waiting for us there. Then, as midnight struck --for the end of 2022 and start of 2023---the Display started --totally synchronised with the chimes of Big Ben (I assume). Then, after a magnificent Firework Display we all sang "Sweet Caroline" at the behest of The Happy Couple". We then returned to TB***---where we stayed till about 1am-when we returned our room --The Suite (Room 5). We met the rest of the Guests for breakfast about 9.
The only thing we didn't like was The Weather--But that was obviously beyond the control of The Hotel's proprietors !!
WE COULD NOT FAULT ANYTHING AT ALL-----CAN ONLY DESCRIBE THE WHOLE STAY AS MAGNIFICENT !!!

The location is a bit remote but quiet.
The hotel has some large green areas.
The room is spacious and clean.
The bed is comfortable.
The dinner and breakfast are very good.
Highly recommended.
None.

Quiet location with very nice gardens and plenty of parking.
Our room was on the third floor and there are no lifts. We struggled to get up there with our suitcases. The last set of stairs are very narrow as well. We were in the attic and the whole floor was very hot. The aircon in our room was not very powerful either. Everywhere you go in the hotel you have stairs. Could do with updating and re-decorating in a few places.
Reception staff were friendly, but barman was not, but that could be that he was rushed of his feet.

It’s proximity to Heathrow and last minute availibity
Being woken up at 1.20am by the night staff to say I hadn’t paid
The vicious, swearing, threatening argument that went on outside my door at 1.30am
How tired the decor is and the feeling of it being a poorly managed institution

Couldn’t fault it in anyway!

The Hotel was beautiful, dining room, bar, grounds & food really good.
Our room was a bit dull, very dark and stuffy as we arrived, very basic bedding, no luxurious throws or cushions like pictures showed.a bit tatty round the edges. Needed a lick of paint, missing handle of one of the draws, no view, window opened onto a brick wall .

Restaurant and bar staff could not have been better - helpful and professional.
The hotel setting is beautiful - wonderful grounds.
Accessibility!
I booked a room which was described as "entire unit wheelchair accessible" in a hotel describing itself as "accessible for wheelchair users" (see screenshots).
Problems included:
1. Step to access reception .
2, car blocking entrance to garden rooms.
3. Step into garden room.
4. desk and chair blocking access round bed
5. no space to enable transfer from wheelchair to toilet.
6. no shower seat to enable wheelchair user access to shower.
7. No step free access to restaurant.
8. Reception staff telling me there was no step free access to bar (there was, I later found).
I was offered a refund of my stay and a complementary stay in the one accessible room this hotel has by the evening duty manager and a free breakfast. I was considering accepting this until the member of staff on the reception desk the following morning told me I could either have a refund of accommodation costs only OR have a free stay in future; denied that he had not told me about step free access to the bar; questioned my assertion that booking.com listed my booked room as wheelchair accessible and said I had to pay for our evening meal and the cost of allowing our dog to stay. I asked to speak to a manager but was told none was onsite. Even though I was given, as promised by the evening duty manager, a full refund, I was left feeling deceived and that I was a "second class citizen", largely due to the attitude of this receptionist. Staff training in disability awareness is much needed.
Room was tired with peeling paint in bathroom. Thin walls meant we could hear movements throughout the night in the room next door.
Travellers beware: this hotel is not welcoming of disabled guests and you cannot trust what they say online. I will find it very hard tio regain confidence in travelling following this experience and will definitely not return to Stoke Place, even with the viucher,.

The property and gardens are lovely. The team was very service-friendly; I had an early check in which was very appreciated and despite the kitchen being closed, the chef made up a sandwich for me when I arrived. The food was good but the staff and service are the best. Considering all other hotels had tripled their rates during the queen's memorial (my reason for visiting) I appreciated that this property was fairly priced and so accommodating to me as a single traveler last minute. Cheers!

My original room was very small and hot - it was a very warm day!
No air con or fan in the room. I was upgraded to a very nice room with air con.
Bed was comfortable.
Some areas were a little shabby and in need of work.
