An effort had been made to add small details with labels in the room. Two glasses with a bottle of dark liquid on the desk with a label saying ‘take a sip’ although there was no description of what it was. Bathroom was presentable. Reception staff friendly.
We arrived earlier, dropped off our suitcase and went out to our engagement. The room on first appearance looked ok when we dropped our suitcase in. We came back at midnight and got ready for bed. The room was very warm so I took off the over blanket and folded it on the settee. When I looked back to the foot end of the bed, where I had removed the blanket there was what appeared to be a bloody mark on the white duvet cover and several very long dark human hairs. I was somewhat shocked. This surely would have been seen as they put the fresh new duvet cover on, if iindeed it had been changed. I picked the long dark hairs off the quilt cover and having just driven 500 miles from Scotland and facing the same return journey the following day I was utterly exhausted and made the reluctant decision to gingerly climb into bed and deal with it in the morning, only to find white stains on the blue cushions. The bed felt unclean and I didn’t feel comfortable knowing what I was having to sleep on. I did bring it up with the receptionist when we checked out who said she would speak to the duty manager, but no one has contacted us. I left the hotel feeling I needed a good shower when I got home and put all my clothing straight into the wash. It is such a shame that obviously lots of little touches had been put into the room but the most important thing of all was missed. Clean bedding and unstained cushions are far more important.

Great location. Friendly staff. Quaint older hotel. Nice touches: working lift, complementary fruit, sherry on arrival. Clean with clean bathroom.
Small room, tight to move around. No temperature control - so it was rather cool. Very small shower: awkward to get in and out. Doors to shower did not shut all the way. Some sort of repairs being made in corridor outside my room both days I stayed there. Windows blocked from opening more than two inches.

We unexpectedly got to stay in a suite with a separate lounge and mini kitchen - a delightful surprise. The complimentary fruit bowl and sherry were also greatly appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The multiple flights of stairs could be challenging for less able guests - not sure if there's a lift?

The location of the hotel was excellent, the staff were efficient and friendly, and the hotel facilities were very good. There is a restaurant and bar on site, which is very useful when you arrive later than expected. The restaurant staff were friendly, the food very good, and the breakfast.

Great location and lovely staff
Incredibly noisy rooms, cost of parking was on top of the price of the hotel and was very expensive

Great location, comfy bed, clean
Very run down (although I appreciate it is scheduled for a refurb) but on arrival the curtain must have fallen down and had been left on the chair in the room. There was also no heating and no way to turn heating on (I was told the next day at reception it was on a timer, but it didn't come on)

Lovely intimate venue for our Wedding celebrations
Only had access to one toilet for the wedding meal due to a private party on in downstairs bar

Single room, ok in size, has fridge in room, chair table, and thick curtains, and bathroom was ok size as well.
Good staff very helpful at night and day.
Plenty of shops & restaurants around, giant museum with rare antiquities from around the world, a giant library ten minutes away down the hill, university gallery not far away up the hill.
Theatre about 15 minutes walk, little cinema about the same distance, buses everywhere.
Curtains was about 9 feet high, can't reach the top as the top was dangling, not a major issue but it's nice to block the light when you need to.
Bed was not very comfortable, but not as bad as other hotels in Bristol.
The room was good, has a lot in it, but the one thing that let it down, was building works going on, and so very noisy, would liked to have booked again but really needed to quiet in the day to work and that would have been impossible at this time.
Once the upgrades are completed, whenever that might be, i think this would be a much better stay, and it was a very nice hotel overall. One of the better ones in the area.

Excellent position and very welcoming - great touches such as free Sherry and fruit and fresh coffee and leaf tea in the room!

I like the amount of space in the room and the bathroom. The selection of tea and alcohol was amazing cuz I got a cold that day and it helped me get through it really quickly. Also Elemis is my favorite brand so it was nice to see it in the bathroom!
I though I was gonna get a room with a view at the square, cuz that’s what the hotel texted me. But my view was limited because of the roof, and I think there were some technical jobs on the roof nearby. So sometimes didn’t feel safe.

A very cute hotel in an old building. Loved the attention to detail with a cute note, fruits, a drink. I had a single room and the beds were comfortable and bathroom was newly renovated. They were kind enough to let me check-in a bit earlier to take my meeting and gave me a park view room. The area is quiet and next to a really lovely large park. Its always walking distance to the main center. Enjoyed my short and sweet stay.
When people walk past or open / close the doors, it can be really loud.

Fantastic location, very clean large room with nice shower, comfortable bed and plenty of tea/coffee facilities. Would have been happy to stay more than one night.
Room was hot but a fan was provided. Parking charges were a little steep at £16/night

Nice welcome gifts of fresh fruit and a drink. Good location. Secure parking (separate payment). Good shower gel
Room needed a little decor painting.

Great location, excellent breakfast.
Tried to get a drink at the hotel bar and even though it was meant to be open (and the receptionist said it was open) there was nobody there to serve us.

Comfortable room with fantastic bed - I didn't want to get out of it! Lots of thoughtful little 'extras' in the room, like fruit, cookies, sherry, guide book.
Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful.
The lounge and bar are beautifully decorated.
The room wasn't the cleanest in places: the tiles under the sink, thick dust on plug sockets and vents, grouting in the bathroom.

Breakfast choices were more than enough. Had a delicious breakfast with great service in the very nice restaurtant that's situated in the hotel.
I didn't like the fact that I stayed here just one night.

Location was excellent for a conference at St George's. Proximity to shops and eateries was perfect. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The bathroom of room 17 definitely needed refurbishment and the threadbare carpet detracted from an otherwise excellent single room.

Central location, clean room, comfortable bed.
The lounge, bar and dining shut for a wedding which I didn’t know or I wouldn’t have booked, so I only had access to my tiny single bedroom. The phone for reception was broken, no breakfast tea so had to go and ask. The shower temperature was boiling and hard to adjust. The reception lady was covering and did not have information… eg couldn’t tell me breakfast times…

The room was a nice size and was a high standard.
Two weeks before my booking they called to tell me there would be a party going on until midnight which I would be able to hear from my room, I asked them to move me to a different room and they said they would. When I arrived at the hotel they hadn't changed my room and didn't have any others available. The room was very hot, there was supposed to be a fan and there was not. And I was woken up throughout the night by the loud rumbling noise from the lift next to the room and was woken early by someone cleaning the bedroom windows with a hosepipe and squeegee. Not restful at all!

we were moved to a completely different hotel due to problems in the Berkeley so cannot give anything about what I liked as we never entered the property
I was told that due to the inconvenience I would be upgraded to a king room in the alternative hotel…. the hotel was terrible the king room was the smallest hotel room I have been in period, 2 twin beds crammed in a tiny room that was old and dated! I was told by the colleague who originally called to move me, that I would be offered a refund if I was not satisfied with the replacement. I called the hotel that evening to express my dissatisfaction and was told I would get a call in the morning to sort it out… I am still waiting on that call 2 weeks later! I have even messaged via booking.com app and have not had any response! definitely wouldn’t book again due to the sheer lack of communication and customer service!

Friendly and helpful staff, good comfortable room. Choice of different teas in the room. Ground coffee was a great touch, instead of poor instant coffee. Clean bathroom.
Hallway needs decorating and carpets need changing on the stairs.

the room was a bit small. the shower was difficult to operate due to a glass screen that couldn’t be opened.
The whole bathroom could do with refreshing.
