Nice decor giving a sense of place — Gävle. Much character.

I didn't do the breakfast as I had to leave so early to catch a train and fly out of Stockholm, but it was such a cute space! Very conveniently located across the street from the train station, too.

Not really anything. My room was sorta on the warm side, but it didn't really bother me.

The staff was undoubtedly friendly, and that was a positive aspect of the experience. However, it was evident that they faced challenges due to working under hotel owners driven by greed as evidenced by the disappointing condition of the hotel, despite their best efforts.

The room temperature was unbearably high, exceeding 26 degrees Celsius, and unfortunately, there was no functioning air conditioning system in place. This resulted in a significant lack of sleep, with only 2-3 hours of rest, greatly impacting comfort and overall experience. Additionally, the presence of a persistent moldy smell in the hotel hallway raised concerns about basic cleanliness and maintenance standards. Such an environment is unsuitable, particularly for individuals with asthma or other medical conditions. Furthermore, was quite surprised to discover that the same staff responsible for preparing breakfast was also tasked with cleaning the toilets afterwards. This revelation greatly undermines confidence in the hotel's hygiene standards and the appropriate allocation of responsibilities within your establishment. Given the multitude of issues encountered during the stay, including the uncomfortable sleeping conditions and the general disregard for cleanliness, I regret to inform that none of us will ever consider staying at your hotel again. We intend to share our disappointing experience with our business associates to ensure they are aware of our negative encounter. In light of these circumstances, I would like to recommend an alternative option. For an additional cost of 300-400 SEK per night, guests can enjoy a truly remarkable hotel experience at the Elite Grand Hotel Gävle. It is a testament to what a well-maintained and customer-focused establishment should be. I hope you take our feedback seriously and take prompt action to rectify the issues we have highlighted.

The room was so warm.

Loved the location! The hotel was good value for money.

The breakfast was a disappointment. In fact, one of the milk cartons was off, and I fed it to my two year-old. I realized after I tried it myself. The staff were somewhat helpful with the disposal of the food, but did not say much. An apology would have been nice.

Curious why the score isn't higher, it's brilliant for what it is. An old temperance hotel in a historic building, atmospheric, quiet and well-kept. Friendly greeting, got an early check-in and a nice corner room away from the station square. Free coffee and biscuits in the afternoon. Good breakfast in a bright and cosy room. The hotel is worth a trip to Gävle in its own right!

Check-in would have been easier if I had let them know of my arrival time beforehand. Otherwise you need to call the number posted on the front door. Called and sent a couple of messages and after a short while I got a message with access code and everything I needed. So no big deal in the end. Couldn't get hot water from the tap in my room but with the shared wc a couple meters away this is first-world problems really.

Location excellent, host and staff very friendly, very comfortable and excellent breakfast facilities

Beds were comfy,room was very nice and mostly quiet. Had to ask for it, but they got us lactose free milk (as we both, me and my husband, are lactose intolerant).

Not much to choose for breakfast,but for the price it was still quite good.
