Breakfast was enjoyable, good choice of food. Location within 100's of meters of public transport. Flexibility in room assignment. The Trattory Bel Pease, the in-house restaurant, serves great Italian dishes.

Cozy and clean room, in a good location. A kettle and some tea in the room were a nice touch. Nice and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Beautiful view from the room.

One the plus side, the hotel is well placed, being a short walk from the station, with the Reichenbach Falls funicular and the Reuti/Alpen Tower cablecar about 10 to 15 minutes walk. The breakfast has a reasonable choice of standard food

Across Switzerland, I recently stayed in a number of hotels which, whilst expensive compared to equivalent non-Swiss hotels, provided a level of friendliness, comfort and welcome associated with the Swiss. Then there is this hotel. The most expensive one I stayed in at xxxxx per night, for which I got a small single room. Both the decor and the level of service appear to be living in the past, not keeping up with the expectations of today's travellers. An example of this is that the bathroom provided two small 7ml plastic pouches of shower gel and one small hard soap bar. This is wasteful in terms of plastic packaging (hello! this is the eco-friendly 2023!!) especially when the liquid soap container was empty and not used. Worse, these were not replaced on day two, implying that you get one single pouch of shower gel per day and it was an absolute palaver to get another one at reception where, for some bizarre reason, conversations were carried out in Italian and the concept of "shower gel" seemingly unheard of. The same goes for the provision of tea and coffee. You get one coffee stick - no creamer! - and that is not refilled the next day either. And the kettle is stupidly nowhere near the electric socket. The tv is also bizarrely in the Italian language too! Wi-Fi connectivity was poor, lasting a maximum of a couple of minutes before being forced to reconnect. There was a permanent presence of flies and no obvious attempt to do anything about them). Yet even here, things went awry. I sat at an empty table which had been prepared for breakfast, and was eating my meal when I was reprimanded by one staff member for not sitting at a table which apparently had my room number on it, on a little card. Yes, apparently you must walk around the large breakfast room looking for the "correct" table.

...The only plus l can give is its location in the centre of Meiringen and about 250m from cable car and there is a Pizzeria within the hotel which served delicious pizzas

The breakfast was APPALLING ...On the 2nd day they ran out of bacon then eggs at breakfast ...and we were down relatively early ...Constantly having to ask them to replenish .... and it took them an age to do so and the variety was extremely limited ...Staff seemed more interested in their phones than guests...The hotel interior looks very tired and in need of an update

The location is hard to beat (short walk to the gondola) and the rooms were clean. These are the only positives that come to mind.

The hotel certainly could use a remodel. But the rooms are clean and the bed and bathroom were recently updated. Top bunk bed in the family room is completely open and has absolutely no rail at all. This is not safe for younger kids to sleep in! Also, the main power outlet in the room was not properly closed and absolutely not child proof. Not enough warm water for 3 people in a room for 4. We did not book breakfast ahead of time. On site we were told it is 18 CHF / Person for each day independent of age (even for toddlers). No flexibility in providing just a coffee or some pastries/rolls a la carte.
