Attractive building with several cute rooms for meals. Our ‘superior’ room had a very large bed which took up most of the room. The bathroom was large with a good shower, but…
Nice touch to have complimentary drinks (not water!)
We did manage to have breakfast on the second day because we left a little later. Several other residents came down before 7.30 and it would be much better if there were more non cooked options for earlier risers, or even better if they started at 7 am.
Breakfast started at 7.30 which was too late for us as we had to leave at 7.45. They did provide a packed breakfast for us one day. It was delivered around 9 pm the night before.
The water was too hot as even the cold sink tap issued hot water until after about 5 minutes.
The room was so dark it was very difficult to see anything let alone work in the evenings, which we had to do.
We were only given one sachet of caffeinated coffee for our two night stay.
Vegetarian options for the evening meal were very limited (although mine was tasty) and over-priced.

Friendly welcome when we arrived. Relaxing music in the room and complimentary Prosecco a nice addition. I really liked how the decor incorporated period furniture and interesting art work. Cosy atmosphere with separate dining and lounge areas. Ate in the restaurant and meal and service good.
No biscuits on the refreshments tray in the room as we’ve had previously when staying with this chain of inns. Would like to have had decaf coffee sachets in room. Couldn’t find the hairdryer as it was in an unmarked bag hanging on a hanger in the wardrobe. Locating this nearer the dressing table would be good. Disappointed with breakfast, I had scrambled eggs with smoked trout which was heavily garnished with fish eggs. I feel it would be helpful if this addition is included on the menu description.

Breakfast was excellent.
Location good
Room was showing its age, curtains frayed and ripped around the edges.
Bathroom, black mould around the front lower edge of the bath creeping up the edge.
Bathroom mirror illumination not working bath very slow to drain when showering even with the drain plug removed.

Beautiful rooms, really lovely staff - great design throughout.
Very hot in the room without the fan going and TV was broken (but not really an issue for me and I didn’t report it).

Quality of the food was very good
Restaurant seemed a bit disorganised at time.

The restaurante inside and the terrace are super nice and the food was good.
The familiar bedroom was very uncomfortable. The sloped roof of the bedroom didn't allow us to walk straight and the it was suffocating to stay there any minute. We just used it to sleep and we could not go there to rest during the day...

good location
very expensive for what it was - a small double room £210 for single occupancy seemed a bit over the top!
no charging point for electric car

The staff were friendly and the food was wonderful. They took my boys back to the chef so they could give him their compliments. The boys were thrilled.

A lovely stay once again at the Methuen Arms Hotel. Great room which was spotless - thank you to Housekeeping. ALL the staff very cheerful and extremely helpful throughout our stay.
We felt the large restaurant/dining room was sadly rather cold!

A splendid historic Cotswold stone inn imbued with history dating back to the 1400s. Delightful, large room with huge bed, excellent facilities - from good coffee and tea, fresh milk and a teeny, lovely welcome bottle of prosecco to Roberts radio playing soothing music on arrival. Interesting and eclectic furnishing, great lighting and atmosphere. While the hotel has a lively bar, functions room and restaurant downstairs, by bedtime things quietened down and we both slept very well. We used it as a base for two days walking the many heritage trails in the area. The weather was terrible so returning to the warmth of the Methen Arms in the late afternoon mande it very special!
The only thing missing was a toilet brush!

There were a couple of minor cleanliness issues in the room but basically it was good. The hotel was busy and there was a great vibe - staff were friendly and engaged. Service at breakfast was efficient.
My only comment would be that Reception wasn’t manned all the time - you had to go and find someone to assist, but once found, they were great! They did seem to be short of staff, so all credit to them for providing a decent level of service.

The room was comfortable, beautiful bathroom. Everything we needed and we even had a couple of complimentary mini bar drinks which was a lovely touch! The food in the restaurant downstairs was amazing for dinner and breakfast and fairly priced as well. I can't recommend this place enough.
