Beautiful location, very charming old building, well presented and homely.

Service for breakfast was a bit slow, seemed to be understaffed. Was nice once it came. Told we had to make our own coffee from percolator pot but it was empty. Then said they would make coffees but only brought 1 for the 2 of us.

Overall setting and the faux "French Provincial" look. Architecture was in keeping with the "French Provincial" theme. The meal consisted of a beautifully prepared steak - the best ever experienced.

"French Provincial" look also included dust masked by the heritage painting of the furniture. n Also cupboard doors would stick/scrape when attempting to open/close these same doors.

No air con in room. Fan didn't work. Crampy room no air flow. misleading in photos. Not 5 star quality.

The location was great. The villa was beautiful. Bed was comfortable. Loved the sitting areas and library. The breakfasts were delicious.

The carpet in our room was quite stained. It was a shame that the restaurant wasn’t open during our stay. I would have loved to try the food.

Great scenery

There was no air con, a subway sandwich was left in our room and the coffee cups were used, breakfast was only for an opening of 2 hours, there’s no cafe close by and they double charged me for the rooms. Very disappointing.

Beautiful rooms and pool

Food was appalling returned it twice and still cold. Staff had no idea of time and situation arrived on NYD to empty restaurant lack of wine and food was awful A sad end to a great holiday. will not return.

The bathroom was excellent and the view.

The bed was appalling uncomfortable. The room and furnishings were tired, as was the rest of the hotel. Certainly not value for money. We had to clean the coffee machine ourselves which was filthy. I would hazard a guess that since its been taken over it has not been maintained. The pool house had a sagging, bubbly roof and for the money we paid, we were expecting 5 stars. The villa is certainly not this! Breakfast was good though.

I loved my stay at Villa Howden. We were greeted by such welcoming staff and the facilities were beautiful. We felt like the staff were super helpful, and the other guests were friendly. It was such a homely and comforting stay.

Nothing! Maybe just that there was a big event on the Saturday night so we didn't feel like we could relax by the fire and it was quite noisy in our room, but that is okay.

Very hot room and no aircon. No fly screens and couldn’t open windows due to swarms of flying ants.

Lovely hotel; not too far from Hobart with beautiful views of the bay. Breakfast included was really good.

We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay onsite without needing to drive anywhere!

We did research once we checked in and we came to the conclusion that since the previous owner, Val sold it, the maintenance on the building doesn't enhance or reflect what was. The touches that would have previously been there were no where in sight. We also read the property is set to be knocked down and redeveloped which really put a dampener on our stay as it's too beautiful to knock down. The breakfast was included but the coffee was extra which we thought was strange. The restaurant was not open for dinner and the atmosphere was lacking - it was probably a place to be/visit in its day.

clean, spacious

was given no introduction to the property and facilities by receptionist. didn’t know what we could use or where things were. they literally just pointed and said that’s your room from the desk. location of the room was as you drive in. whenever a car drove in it would wake you up. when the upstairs room walked around you could hear every foot step.

It was a beautiful property and the room was stylishly decorated.
