Las calles en reparación y la atención en recepción , estuve esperando de 3 a 5 pm a que me entregaran la habitación :(

The accommodation was hot, or not working enough. The beach in front is not good for swimming, lots of rocks and dirt, other places in Playa Del Carmen are much better.
The breakfast is horrible, almost nothing is included, water is not included, nor are the omelet fillings. Pancakes are also not included.
The service from the waitress “Maugles/mauricio” is bad, always trying to add extra things.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND. HOT ROOMS. BEACH IN FRONT BAD. BAD SERVICE. THERE IS NO PLACE TO STORE THE CAR. Every time you get the car it takes 15 minutes to arrive….

El desayuno es horrible, no incluye casi nada, no incluye agua ni los rellenos de tortilla. Los panqueques tampoco están incluidos.
El servicio de la camarera “Maugles/mauricio” es malo, siempre intentando añadir cosas extra.

ESCOLHAM OUTRO HOTEL! O alojamento era quente, o ar não funcionou o suficiente. A praia na frente não é boa para tomar banho, muitas pedras e suja, outros lugares de Playa Del Carmen são bem melhores.
O café da manhã incluso é horrível, quase nada é incluso, a água não é inclusa, os recheios do omelete também não. Pancakes também não são inclusas.
O atendimento do garçom “Maugles/mauricio” é ruim, sempreee tentando colocar coisas extras.

The staff, decor, and location was by far the best hotel in playa del Carmen .

Close to the beach, comfortable beds, nice shower.
Air conditioning did not work well, valet parking did not work well, location was too close to very loud clubs.

Hotel is located right at the beach, rooms are quite nice and spacious.
We stayed three nights in the queen room with American breakfast included. One day we had a trip to pyramids planned and therefore had to leave the hotel really early (before the breakfast was served). A day before we asked the personnel if we could get a lunch box (which is a common practice in almost every hotel, even with much lower standards) but we were told that we would need to pay additionally to get a sandwich. Even though we had American breakfast included, preparing a sandwich was a problem. We still asked for the coffee, some fruits and pastry, which were part of our breakfast. In the morning it turned out that we cannot get our food because the staff had no lunch boxes so we could take it with us.. On top of that at the end of our stay we were charged for water that was in the room (apparently there were two types of water but on the day of arrival we only had the ‘paid’ one) as well as for the coffee capsules. We have been travelling all over the world and to be honest this was very unexpected and unpleasant situation. Unfortunately, the staff that we talked to was not friendly and not helpful at all and that was probably the most sad thing out of the whole stay. All in all, I would not recommend this place.

They overcharged for call drinks. The breakfast was mediocre. Taxes in this part of Mexico are to high, though I realized this is not your fault.

Bachata marathon (from 6PM thru 1130PM in the pool area is extremely noisy for guests like us. Some main facilities being repaired /painted while they should be fully operational. Evening shift wasn’t helpful.

Aside the fact, that it is overall a wonderful location, a chilling place and with very friendly staff, we find it worth mentioning, that the hotel mgmt let us cancel the last night (although booked and already paid) due to a very bad health condition of my wife, which had worsened over the last two days and finally forced us to fly home one day earlier than originally planned. We had to pay no penalty, thank you for that, dear team !
We will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends !

The location was great, right at the beach. The junior suite is very spacious with a very nice balcony with a dining table and a small couch to lounge. I got an upgrade from garden view to a partial sea view which was really nice and was able to enjoy the sea from my room.
I liked the design of the hotel room, simple and minimalistic yet sophisticated. The wifi worked mostly well (I was there for two nights only) which came handy since TV had nothing special and most channels are dubbed to Spanish.
My booking came with an american breakfast included, with eggs, coffee and some pastries.
I had room service one night and due to an event that was going on in the hotel, which caused the hotel restaurants and bars to close to the non participants of the said event. The chef was kind to provide me with a salad that was not listed in this hotel but only in the main hotel.
I read most reviews online and was afraid that would not have hot water or internet, but luckily I had it all. The internet was even good enough to watch Netflix.
The hotel was very very expensive! The value for money was not there, although the free room upgrade to a partial sea view was a nice touch. The service needs to be improved tremendously. The receptionist was very cordial but nothing warm and welcoming, you come back and no one greets you, for much less that the price I paid, I have felt very much welcome.
This is part of the other larger hotel few minutes from there and all guests that want to lounge at the beach come to this hotel but the space is very very limited. Very few lounge chairs close to the beach and guests book and keep the chairs all day even when they go back to their rooms.
I stayed from December 30 to January 1, so the hotel had an event for the new years eve. However, they closed all the restaurants and bars for the event and guest only had the room service option which, apart from being limited was also charged delivery and tips. If you are going to close the restaurants at the hotel, then given them reasonable options, so they should have removed the delivery and tips should optional.
TV options have to be improved, granted that people dont go to these places to watch TV, for that price (almost USD2,000 for two nights), guests should have more, not only TV channels but food options and much better service.
One last thing is that the sink didnt drain the water quickly, which again for this price, it shouldn't happen.

this property is perfectly situated to the beach and only 1 block to 5th Avenue shopping and restaurants. it is the perfect location. nice size- nice pool and loungers on beach and cabanas by the pool. loved everything. have stayed at larger properties but I prefer this smaller boutique style.
i loved the bathroom setup with 2 closets. plenty of hangers and drawers and the separate shower and toilet area.
the only thing is there are other restaurants and a hotel - The Carmen- that have loud music next door—not the fault of this hotel so not holding against them but you will need ear plugs- and you will not have a
problem. other than that- absolutely perfect
great little restaurant 3 steps out of lobby for coffee and drinks - will come back

Couldn't be happier with the choice of Thompson. Location was perfect, very clean,beautiful and spacious rooms, comfortable bed, heated floor beside the bed. Service was amazing by the pool and beach area. I would highly recommend and would definitely return.

We stayed in the top floor King Suite with a plunge pool. No hot water, uncomfortable bed, smelled musty, several water stains & rust at hinges. Food & beverage subpar; beer severed at almost room temperature. Ate all meals off property, the best place was across the street, Muza surf bar. The bedroom floor was always wet. We had to leave the balcony doors open to dry them out and wait until night to close them. Plunge pool was disgusting- never even used it. This was obviously a rehab property, toured the Thompson in town. It was worse.

Quiet during the time I went to the hotel. I expected more people to be there to mingle with but it was very quiet weekend/week during my visit. They cleaning staff/housekeeping were amazing. Great attention to detail.

Location was great- right off fifth Avenue and off the beach. Full access to the other Thompson hotel which had a gym and a wonderful rooftop pool. Ten minute walk to get the ferry to Cozumel which was very convenient.
Fresh water was only available during certain hours at the front desk (after 11am until late afternoon) and the nespresso machine in the room was not provided- it cost extra money. These simple extras would have made the difference between a good stay to a great stay.

We loved the spacious room, terrace, and calm of the space. It is far enough away from the very clubby section a few blocks away, and insulated from that noise.
The valet parking situation is very inconvenient, which we understand is due to the location and laws regarding the closed streets. But when you have had a long day and are returning to the hotel, it's a challenge to find parking and walk back to the hotel, then return the next day to get your car.
