Good area for staying in Seville
The owner was not there to meet us but he sent a charming young lady called Raquel. She showed us the apartment and then very kindly went with my husband in our car to show us the parking; are we glad she did as it would have been very difficult to find otherwise. Our dealings with Juan (the owner) were good and he was extremely helpful. Initially, we were charmed. The entrance to the apartment, walking through greenery into a courtyard and then in to the apartment was a delight. The ground floor with the lounge and kitchen was lovely and we enjoyed the large windows over-looking the river. Only later did we realise that the bedrooms were in the basement and two of the bedrooms did not have windows! The main bedroom had grills over the windows, so no views whatsoever. We found a few faults which we advised the owner of and we are sure that there will be remedied before the next guests arrive. 1.No information/ maps etc 2. No information on what to do with rubbish 3. No provisions whatsoever, ie. tea/coffee/.oil etc 4. No dishwasher tablets 5. One tea towel only and no cleaning materials 6. No details advising that bedrooms are downstairs with no windows. 7. Pictures show outside areas, but we are not allowed to use them and sit outside. This is made very clear on a note on the inside of the front door to the apartment, but nowhere else. I was disappointed as I would have loved to sit outside and enjoy the courtyard. 8. Noise from walkway, this apartment is on a busy thoroughfare with many people walking /cycling along it, so not at all quiet. 9. One plug for two baths, one basin and one kitchen sink! We were constantly moving the plug from room to room.
A few minor faults as listed above, which we are sure will be rectified by the owner. The main sleeping areas are downstairs with no outside windows and the main bedroom has a grill over the window, so little or no air. This is the only apartment that we have ever stayed in where there have been no small provisions for your arrival. No basics that we usually find in rental apartments. The apartment is on a footpath next to the river, this is used extensively by many people, so it is not at all quiet. Outside the main bedroom window is a seating area where people congregrate during the day and late into the evening, so this is not an apartment for light sleepers, of which I am one. So for me, this was the biggest drawback.
