We stayed at Casa Do Mercado by Heart of Funchal for 13 nights. The apartment was a good size for two people, if you have a small child they could sleep on the coach. The kitchen was great, having just about everything so that you can cook a small meal, which we did on several nights. The bedroom was comfortable. The bathroom was of good size. Wall plugs were located through out the apartment, making it easy to charge electronics. Location was within walking distance to restaurants, shops, taxis, buses and the beach area.

Ants, ants and more ants! Make sure you wipe everything down as these ants will converge on the smallest drop of anything liquid. This problem was also noted by another renter prior to our stay. No place to hang your clothes, no closet and no hooks. (a few hooks on the wall would help). we hung our shirts and jackets on the edge of the doors. Can get noises at night but the windows are double pain and most of the noise can be drowned out. Take short showers as the hot water does not last long or a couple can take a shower together.

It has been so tastefully decorated. We wouldn’t change anything. It felt so welcoming and a wonderful space to be in from the moment we stepped inside. beautifully clean, wonderful wandering in and out of the bedroom and the sittingroom on to balcony :) So basically we loved the style, the location, the attention to detail. The kitchen was kitted out perfectly too. It felt like a lot of thought had gone into the whole thing. Thank you . We will be back .

Really helpful staff, great location, complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits was lovely as we arrived late and shops were closed. Filipa suggested we visited the Christmas markets when we arrived, which we loved!

Nothing to say really! Room door lock perhaps did not feel super secure but it was fine really.

Very convenient location in the old town, huge parking house nearby, infinite good food options all around. The house was just lovely. Kitchen had everything we needed and beyond. The owner was very sweet and helpful.

We were staying on the first floor and the sound coming from a bar on the same street was reaching us almost unfiltered. So consider getting ear plugs if you're a sensitive sleeper.

We liked everything about our stay at Casa de Mercado. It is located in an ideal place for getting to restaurants, shops, the waterfront, the cable car, transportation, and shopping. The host left us a bag of cookies to munch on during our visit. Alexandra showed us how to operate the oven/microwave. She recommended places to eat as well. The large room and bathroom was exceptionally clean. And it is very reasonably priced. I would go back there again and recommend it to anyone who is traveling to the beautiful island of Madeira.

If I had to come up with a negative, it would be to warn people about the cars coming down the street as you close the door. We were thankful that the host told us about that..

It was great location for our plans. Everything was around - old town, ocean, cabel car, buses, shops, restaurants ;)

Very central. Clean, comfortable and a lot of room for 2 people. Host very friendly and helpful. Made our stay very relaxt and moren enjoyable

Bar around the corner plays loud music and soccergames. They do seemed to stop before midnight

Nice apartment in the old city, few minutes walk from the beach, perfect for a morning or evening swim on a hot day. Host was very responsive & gave us lots of tips. I recommend staying here when in Funchal.

Lovely apartment in the centre of Funchal old town; very close to all the sights and many nice restaurants are literally next door. The apartment is modern and fully equipped with everything you need even for a longer stay.

Parking in the old town can be challenging - you either need to walk a bit or take a rather pricy parking garage. Next to the apartment there is a bar with music past midnight on weekends.

The flat is perfectly located right next to the bottom cable car station. It’s very close to reaturants, bars and supermarkets. It has a perfectly well equipped kitchen, Smart TV and a little outside property. I also appreciate that any time we had any questions or concerns, we would hear back from the landlord immediately.

The location was perfect, right in the center of the old town. Good restaurants were a minute away. Place was quiet even in the weekend nights,

There could have been a terrace or balcony, but that we knew when we booked the place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The two apartments we had were excellent, comfortable, and had very good kitchenettes. Very nicely decorated and very clean.

Absolutely nothing to dislike.

The apartment was really comfortable we'll equipped and in a great location. It was a little noisy late at night on Friday and Saturday, but that was to be expected being in such a vibrant area. Staff at the office we're always available if we needed any advice or had a question.

Location was ok. We had a few homeless men a street away smoking something.. We also did not have hot water in the shower area. Other then that it was lovely.
