Hotel looks old, but everything is functioning. And the rooms with the marina and Mount Pico trump everything else. Road outside the hotel is currently under closed for renovation, so those with heavy luggage might find it troublesome (the building has no lift anyways.) The plus side is traffic is much lighter due to renovation so traffic noise is not an issue. Breakfast is basic but plentiful.

My check-in staff is probably part-time and didn't look too welcoming; but my check-out staff is much more pleasant.

The location could not have been better. Had a double room w. balcony and the view to the marina was wonderful. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was, though limited in variety, perfectly fine.

One of the bedside table drawers could not be opened as it smelled so badly of mold inside. Same with the tv-table drawers. And we're not talking about the kind of regular humidity that is everywhere if you're on an island like this but the kind that will stick to your clothes and contaminate everything. The hotel is in obvious need of refurbishing and if this is not done soon it will be in a very bad condition quickly. The bathroom had been refurbished as it was quite modern but needs some rethinking as the showerhead fell down every time I took a shower at least a couple of times and hit me in the head. One day of my stay there was no hot water. Don't know for how long as I left for the day. Another, no water at all. I was told this was the same all over but talking to other people in nearby hotels that was not the case. Again, don't know how long this lasted as went out for the day. The electricity went off in the breakfast room on two days of my stay. Fixed quickly but again, the place really needs some work. There are tiles missing on the walls inside everywhere and just general atmosphere of decay. It's a lovely building in a lovely place but it's not being cared for. As it is I would not stay again. Hope they do something about these issues as it would be a shame if it continues as it is.

The breakfast is okay, although I think it could have more local products. The location is good, in the city center with all the facilities nearby. The staff was nice.

The hotel is a bit old and outdated. It needs a refurbishment ASAP. The rooms could be cleaner, there was some hair on the bathroom when we arrived and dust under the beds. The mosquito net on our window didn't close well so we had to deal with it all night...
