Pools, beach, stuff during meal time and bars, food, very beautiful nature.

Stuff in the front desk -during the payment the lady told us our cards were invalid, husband started ringing to the bank, but the bank told us cards did work, so after 30 (!) minutes the front desk charged from the same card correctly..not a really wonderful experience to wait with two small kids. Beds are just awful, as soft as my grandma's sofa..and the conditioner needs to be cleaned. High humidity in the room. My son came 5 minutes later from the beginning of the activity in the kids club, several girls were already drawing, he also asked to join, but the lady told him it was too late, all the rules about this activity have already been announced... seriously?..

I love that the property had so many things to do. The grounds and the beach are beautiful!

I felt our room was not as clean as it should be. Areas like in between the bed and wall where dusty. also I’m the shower the top parts of the shower door was dusty. it’s like they clean but not detailed cleaning. For the price we paid I think everything should be spotless

Well, first of all we didn’t stay at Barcelo Maya Tropical, because we were moved to Barcelo Maya Caribbean. I didn’t like the change, because I booked the Tropical location. I liked the fact that I was able to choose where I wanted to eat and visit different theaters.

The property was very clean, my wife and I were very impressed on how hard the staff works. They served us like we was Kings and Queens.

This is a complex with 6 hotels. Facilities are for the six hotels. Hotel is beautiful and facilities are great. Food is very good with a great variety of option. Many activities to do for different ages. Overall a very good hotel.

Wifi is unstable in most parts of the hotel Receptionists need to be further trained. They say no to every request even without consulting. They do not coordinate among themselves causing unnecessary delays. The rest of the staff is great but this is not the case for receptionists. I booked for Maya Tropical with my family. We had two rooms but surprisingly I was placed in one of the other hotels. I struggled a lot to be kept where I reserved and with my family. Apart from this issue I had some others always with receptionists.

the facilities are amazing there is always something to do

well the service in the beach is Poor if you want to have a drink you have to walk a long distance for it, no waiters service in that area

The breakfast was exceptional. There were a wide range of different options. Very traditional accommodations.

The breakfast option could have added more non pork products. Add Turkey sausage, bacon ect.

The property is huge. The place is clean and the spa is very nice. We met Ali Masoud at front desk and he made our stay more enjoyable. He took the time to explain all the things that we can do and places we can visit.

The food can be better.

- Attention was great, the waiters were amazing (especially Macario, in the sea food restaurant... called "Marenostro" or something like that) and Monica at the Premium reception was amazing as well - Stunning facilities

- Privacy in the bathrooms is not the best, especially if you are traveling with your family - Sargassum on the beach was a pain in the a* - They had workers close to the pool doing noise everyday

Barcelo Maya Tropical is part of a huge resort with countless restaurants, pools and entertainment facilities. Until the evening there is always enough to do and eat.

The people at the check in and service desk are not trained well. There are unfriendly, sometimes just rude. It must have been the first time in my life that somebody is not asking how my stay was during checkout or wishing to see me back. With so many options for a la carte dining it is hard to believe that everything is fully booked all the time, and apparently that is not the case if you see the half full restaurants when you get there. Cleaning personel however is very friendly, as are the entertainers at the resort. The transportation fees from and to the airport charged by the hotel are outrageous. The place is quite far from everything else, but a simple coach service would solve this problem (seems to be only available for bookings with tour company). Discotheques are closed, I was told because of government regulation, but Playa del Carmen and Cancun do have open discotheques, so don't expect any parties at the hotel or anywhere nearby after 10.30 pm.

It is a huge complex with tons of activities. Very large rooms and comfortable beds. The onsite restaurants are nice.

I am very upset about this hotel keeping dolphins in the smallest of pools as a tourist attraction! Also tourists are feeding seaturtles and monkeys constantly with bananas and no-one seems to care. You would think they would care about animals these days! That was really disappointing to see.

The variety of amenities available for different ages, the facilities, in general, are in good condition, the beach and pools were excellent, we were impressed with the Maya Mall. Also, we appreciated having had the upgrade for our room and some other services. My 4-year-old son had a great time in the kids club, shows at night were entertaining, good service to pick up the glasses around the beach and pool, and keep everything clean.

Our room was extremely humid; the towels stayed damp after use and never dried. I also had the feeling that some of our things left out of the suitcase, also got humid, so I left everything packed. We didn't request any changes to the front desk because we were there for a few days, and we were hardly ever in the room. The air conditioner worked, but it wasn't too cool at all. Another comment that I will have is that all the juices are artificial and with a lot of sugar, there is no sugar-free or natural option to drink.

beautiful beach areas, lots of fun activities to do

our air conditioner was broken all week and they wouldn’t move us rooms, they downgraded our hotel stay from the Tropical to the Beach, saying it was “booked”, many of the hotel restaurants were booked so we had to eat at 9:00 pm, or have the buffet, which gets old quickly. the beach area at the Beach was full of heaping piles of moss.

If you want to travel to a nice beach and not to worry about where to eat and where to go every day get an all inclusive package, very convenient to travel with kids, we went there with my three years old and my nine months old and it was very comfortable.

the beach is amazing! the pools are good as well and they are actually at the beach which is great! they have a lot of games (chess, basketball, waterpolo and others) the sun beds at the beach are very comfortable and absolutely love the beach!

the staff is rude and not really helpful. the food was always cold and lots of times they run out of some food, they wouldn’t even do an effort to look for more. the restaurants are always fully booked, so it’s important that you do the reservation for all of them just when you arrive.
