The views were amazing. It's at the very top, so nowhere else could compare -- worth every penny. The staff were so nice, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They booked so much for us as far as day trips and outings. The location was perfect. Walkable to shops and very good restaurants. The pools were wonderful and clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was great. The wildlife was so cool to see around the hotel. The food at the restaurant was so delicious -- a higher level than a lot of ones we went to. The swim up pool bar was so amazing to watch the sunsets and the bartender was so great at his job.

The service was exceptional. We had one blip in the restaurant where we were overcharged a seemingly random price for a particular dish but other than that the rest of our experience was excellent. There was no request we made that was not attended to swiftly and without difficulty or resistance. The staff are a credit to the hotel. We stayed in a few places during our Costa Rica trip and La Mariposa stood above the rest in terms of service. The location is brilliant and the sea views from the room are stunning. The beautiful wildlife surrounds and creeps into the hotel grounds. I cannot recommend La Mariposa enough.

Excellent hotel with breathtaking views of the sea. Excellent location and close to local restaurants major attractions such as Manuel Antonio national park, mangroves and nearby beaches.

We were recommended a few tours from the hotel. We went with a few of them such as kayaking in the mangroves and guided tour of Manuel Antonio national park - these were very good and would highly recommend. However, the highest recommendation came for the sunset cruise where you could snorkel, see whales and dolphins etc.. This was a very poor choice - the crew were constantly drinking alcohol, were selective as to who was allowed to snorkel and were more concerned about getting people back on the boat so that the crew can go swimming themselves. Often felt like a cheap 18-30’s party boat. Would not recommend this excursion!

La Mariposa is the most phenomenal place. I think it may have been the first time I have shed a tear leaving a hotel!! We went for our honeymoon in August 2022 - beautiful sunshine all day with off peak prices, you definitely shouldn't be put off by rainy season! It was so magical and the staff were so kind and helpful. We will remember our stay there forever, thank you so much!

It's pretty perfect...

The setting was so beautiful, and there are many monkeys, scarlet macaws, and sloths right on the property. The pool and breakfast are also great.

Clearly, an amazing location with remarkable views. Pool is very nice (especially in the quiet hours, when not too many noisy children around...), BUT...

The service was way below what is expected from such a luxurious and expensive hotel. There was no elevator (due to some technical problem) throughout our stay, which was quite inconvenient. Especially, owing to the fact that we had to carry up most of the suitcases upon arrival. A second major issue was the fact that the prices specified in the list of activities that were officially sent to us (from the hotel management via Booking; e.g. the Manuel Antonio guided tour) were apparently not up-to-date. Their response on that was of complete carelessness. Very unprofessional. And there were additional disturbing examples of very mediocre and unprofessional level of service. I did not receive any reply following an email I sent to the hotel management.

The location is up on the hill so there is a beatifull view of the ocean . The room was very comfort and have a beautifull view too. All we asked from the crew we got quickly with a smile, they were very nice and helpfull. We saw some tukans, monkeys, other birds...all in the area of the hotel. The infinity pool is very beatifull. The breakfast was good. There is free shuttle to the beach and close to Manuel Antonio Park.

Clean, comfortable bed, nice rain shower with good water pressure. The grounds are beautiful with nice views, it is the tallest property in manuel antonio. We saw a sloth, capuchin and squirrel monkeys (even one on our balcony), macaws, toucans, and agoutis all around the property during our stay. Staff are kind and friendly just like Costa Ricans are. Breakfast is a typical average buffet style; but the seating area of the restaurant is outstanding! Hotel is well located with walking distance to multiple restaurants and its not expensive at all to take a taxi to any nearby beach or the park. The hotel also offers free bus service at certain times of the day.
