Excellent host and professional & courteous staff.
Evening meals and breakfasts were very good.
See you next year!
Room (Yew) just a tad dark and creaky floor boards in that section.

Booked the family room for two adults and our two (young) grandkids. We had a warm welcome on arrival and the room was ideal and spacious. Morning breakfast was great and there was a varied menu.

Very friendly staff and lovely and clean. Has a wonderful relaxed feeling.
We only had a bath and much prefer a room with a shower.

Beautiful property with ample parking. Very warm welcome at reception and attentive service throughout the evening. Dinner was superb. Our room overlooking the garden was warm and comfortable. Just what was needed after a long day at Beamish museum.

Would highly recommend. Excellent breakfast, compliments to the chef. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Driving off the car park in the snow. The car park is on a fairly steep gradient more noticeable when sliding on the snow.

My hangover that I couldn't enjoy the delicious breakfast

Good varied breakfast, very pleasant and friendly staff, room was good size and had nice view. Very nice shower room with toiletries. Tea and coffee plentiful and good room service. Very convenient location to access all that Newcastle has to offer.
We cannot complain about any part of our stay here. The parking was easy and we were able to leave our car in the car park even though we arrived early. We would have liked a longer stay.

Relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff.
Food was excellent
Room very clean
Did not like drinking water bottles and glasses put in bathroom, felt unhygienic. This was the ONLY negative thought about our stay.

Very friendly and welcoming hosts.
I think for the rate charged for the room, I would have expected there to be some biscuits.

Staff were friendly & happy to help.
Food from the restaurant was really nice & service was quick.
The Wifi was a bit slow and lost connection on occasions

Breakfast buffet table had good selection and cooked breakfast was very nice.
Bedroom comfortable and attractive.
Bathroom sparkling and superb.
Staff very welcoming and friendly.
Public rooms tastefully decorated. (Reminiscent of a Scottish Country Hotel)
I liked everything. The only observation I make is that the light in the bedroom was a trifle subdued and ladies do tend to need more illumination for make up etc.

superbly comfortable with fantastic staff. the bath and shower were great to relax.
only thing was the extractor fan was very loud. but fortunately it went straight off when you switched the bathroom light off.

The staff were all great, especially the lady serving breakfast - so cheerful and helpful.
The hotel is a very attractive building in a pleasant and quiet location with a really nice park close by. (5 minute walk.) Convenient for A1 and a short drive or taxi ride to Newcastle. (About 2.5 miles to the Tyne Bridge or £10 for four of us right in to town.)
Food was very good quality and for a reasonable price, although we would have liked a slightly larger main course, especially before the Great North Run! Breakfast choice was excellent. Would definitely stay again, and eat there too - the restaurant is clearly popular.
Hotel very clean too and bed very comfortable.
Thanks for a great stay.
Room slightly tired but perfectly acceptable and better than most chain hotel rooms.
Main course slightly on the small side.

A great hotel with brilliant staff who all go out of their way to help you. We had a clean, spacious room, which met all of our needs, although the "open plan" bathroom might not suit everyone. Excellent shower. Good tea and coffee facilities in the room. Plenty of options for breakfast and cooked breakfast was very good. We dined in one evening and both the food and the recommended wine were excellent. Even though Low Fell main street isn't too far away, it's an extremely steep walk, so we took a taxi (about £5) to get there and walked back. Best pubs we went to were Gilbert and Smith's, The Bank and The Victoria. To get to Newcastle, without the hassle of buses, order a taxi (about £10) to drop you off at Gateshead quayside (takes about ten minutes) and you can cross the Millenium bridge into Newcastle city centre.
Nothing really.
