Breakfast was excellent, with an excellent range of foodstuffs. The hotel setting was delightful in the Lakes District.

I did not have any issues that could be characterised as "not Liking".

The property is in a beautiful setting within walking distance to hiking trails.

The interior is dated, with much of the wallpaper and other decor in need of replacement. Ditto for the wicker tables outdoors. The dinner menu looks lovely but seemed very overpriced (we did not eat there) and the breakfast service needs to be simplified and updated. Coffee should be readily available; why don’t servers simply have pots of fresh brewed coffee? Having to wait 10 minutes for a French press to appear on the table is overly fussy.

This is a fantastic hotel. Situated in a quiet part of the Lakes far from the crowds - the rooms, lounge and restaurant have superb views over the fields, mountains, and nearby village. Our room was very spacious and very comfortable. There is heaps of room to make yourself comfortable in the lounge and bar. The restaurant was outstanding, offering thoughtfully designed dishes meeting the quality of much more expensive offerings elsewhere. Breakfast was also excellent. Staff were very helpful throughout our stay. Would happily stay again!

This hotel exceeded our expectations so there isn't much negative to say. I imagine in busy times the car park might be a bit difficult to navigate, and there are very narrow streets leading up to the hotel.

The location was great with lovely views and easy access to walks around derwentwater, as well as being well positioned for visiting other areas of the lake district. The food was excellent and we got upgraded to a newly refurbished and luxurious room. The restaurant and lounge were nicely decorated

We liked everything! Oh my our room was so beautifully decorated it was like home from home, quiet, peaceful and stunning views. The food was equally amazing. We stayed for the evening dinner and it was definitely a culinary delight! The waiting staff were equally as wonderful although I cant recall names I did recognise Scottish accent and Northumberland tone, thankyou both it was lovely speaking with you! I would recommend this hotel and without any doubts ..

Everything about this hotel was exceptional. The customer service we received was second to none and Sue and her colleagues go above and beyond and it is very clear to see. The location is perfect for exploring the surroundings of Borrowdale and Keswick just being a short distance away. We got upgraded to a superior room with the most fantastic views that truly made my partners birthday weekend so special and it was such a lovely gesture from Sue and her colleagues. The breakfast was brilliant and has plenty to offer both hot and cold options. The facilities were fantastic and I have already been recommending this hotel to family and friends and will absolutely be coming back to stay soon. Thank you so much for making our weekend amazing, we loved every minute.

Nothing could have been better

The loveliest property, in the loveliest, stunning location. We were lucky enough to have a free upgrade as well, which was amazing. We received a room with a garden view - absolutely stunning. Such a quiet and peaceful place, exactly what we wanted. The staff were so lovely and super helpful. The breakfast was delicious, with various choices on offer. I couldn’t recommend this place more! Will definitely return!

As soon as we arrived the manager Sue made us feel special and welcomed. The food was superb (one of us coeliac, one of us pescatarian), the restaurant service like a well oiled machine. It was our first visit and we were upgraded to a garden suite room which was recently refurbished and superb. bed was v. comfortable, room was quiet, heating controls were simple but effective. Great to be able to step into the garden from it and watch the squirrels. Relaxing lounge areas. Great to be able to do lovely walks from the door. We will return!

Absolutely nothing

Location is exceptional. The views are breathtaking. Staff are wonderful. Beds are comfortable and firm. Water pressure is brilliant - a hot bath after a chilly hill walk in 5mins! Breakfast is tasty and well-presented. Great lounge areas to relax, play games, watch the world. Lastly, we also had a red squirrel to watch each morning from our window.

The rooms feel a little dated but charming still. Nothing much to report here, we had a wonderful stay.
