Good AC. Good breakfast. Lovely grounds. Nice location near town so you can walk to restaurants. Close to beautiful Uvita Waterfall
The bed had a strange odor. The sheets were an odd, thin material. I asked for cotton and was told they didn’t have any. No hand towels or wash cloths given. The room had in cleaned areas, such as behind doors, windowsills. Also, I saw price had gone down in our time of stay to close to half of what we paid. I guess we should have waited to book.

Great location. Beautiful setting, pleasant & helpful staff, clean rooms with comfy beds, pillows & A/C. Hot water showers & a nice breakfast. Kitchen facilities & clotheslines are a nice bonus! A great value.
Nothing I can think of ~ Everything was great!

The area was huge and surrounded with lush greenery. A good place for bird watching. The hotel is great if you want a glamping kind of experience.
The location is far away from the beach and natioanl park. Though it is quite close to the bus station.
I didn't think the hotel was value for money. Firstly, the room was very basic and so was the bathroom.
Secondly, the breakfast was very basic, and no soft drink was provided with it. They asked me for an extra charge if I wanted fruits with gallo pinto.
Lastly, the pool was not well-maintained. I saw the dogs going in the pool more than once. Which I think shouldn't be allowed.

Our trip to Uvita could have been a low point in our holidays in Costa Rica, as the whales had already left and the weather was too dry for a night tour to see frogs and other nocturnal animals. The fact that it wasn't a low point was due to a large extent to staff at the Whale Tail Hotel, and especially the friendly Alejandro, who somehow became a symbol of Costa Rican people to us: young, easy-going, welcoming, as much at ease with a cosmopolitan clientele as with the customs and traditions at home, and always willing to help whenever possible. He gave us plenty of useful tips about bars and restaurants, but also (and crucially) advised us against going on tours due to the season or the weather conditions. This was something that happened to us at other hotels in Costa Rica: instead of telling guests to go on tours that might have been disappointing, but would have guaranteed them a commission, most often people would tell us not to go, although this was obviously a loss to them. Clearly, money is not all that matters to them! Our bedroom was in an isolated cabin in a tropical garden, where birds and howler monkeys were our alarm clock and where, in the evening, it is easy to see coatis and iguanas, and there is a swimming pool to cool off in the hottest days. The breakfast pancakes are delicious! Although we did not make use of any of these, there is also a communal kitchen and facilities for barbecues on the premises; in the evening, there is a bar with live music, at a sufficient distance from the bedrooms that it doesn't become a nuisance.
There was nothing worth mentioning, except perhaps the fact that you need to use Google Maps or Waze to find the entrance to the hotel, as you may easily drive past it without seeing it. Other than that, everything was fine!

This is a great place, I highly recommend this hotel, nice place, great pool, incredible service, near to important points
Some people they dont have the culture of cleaning the dishes once they finish to cook, most of the young guests the ate then cleaning the dishes which is kinda unrespectful for the ones that are needing to use the dishes

Friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast, a lot of space in the restaurant and garden
The dorm’s bathroom could use a renovation, especially the shower, and the men’s bathroom is quite dirty and old

Pancakes with fruits as a brekfast, was very good! The staff are very helpful and kind!

The breakfast was good and the location is close to the beach. Plenty of parking space.
You get 1 towel per person and mine had a hole in it. The walls look like they needed some paint work, could clearly see the mold on them. Washroom could've been cleaner. It had some bugs but also the shower curtain looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. For the price we paid, you can get luxury stays at other hotels in the country.

Breakfast was very good, who doesn't love pancakes and fruit. Daniela at the front desk was sweet, lovely and exceptionally accommodating. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to a family emergency and she was a great help. Thank you.
Not much.

clean and comfortable room with much needed air conditioning. the common area and pool area were really nice and a great place to chill out (I really enjoyed the hammocks and actually thought the pictures online didn’t do the pool area justice - it’s so much nicer). the breakfast was delicious. if you’re planning to do laundry on your trip, do it here! it’s very reasonable price and the clothes come out dry, smell nice and neatly folded (not a given everywhere I’ve been!). very close to the beautiful waterfall (about 15 minute walk) and some nice places around to eat lunch and dinner - I particularly recommend indomitos cafe & bar. I didn’t use the kitchen but looked like it had good facilities. staff were helpful. we didn’t book any activities through the hostel but plenty were available.
there was live music playing Friday night and Saturday night at the whale tail brewery next door and it was extremely loud in the room, however luckily it stopped at 10. not close to the beach so if you don’t have a car, you have to get a taxi and the prices seem to vary significantly (we paid anything between 2000-5000 colones for the exact same trip). also the place is a bit outdated.

Lovely property with large garden and pool, hammock area and lounge... amazing breakfast! While the rooms are basic, the AC and ambience make up for it.

We had our own bungalow, it was GREAT everything we needed, price was right and breakfast was super tasty. I loved that they had juice and coffee available all day! We needed and wanted for nothing!!!
It was great, can't think of anything that was missing or needed!!!

super nice surroundings, nice hammocks
I wouldn’t wanna pay the full amount they ask some days, since it is still a hostel and no hotel. we managed to get a decent discount so that was fine for us. The second day they wanted the full price so we left :)

Danielle was extremely helpful, we had some long journeys ahead with multiple public buses and she did everything she could to help. Also helped us get a good deal on taxis when needed.

it sits away from traffic nestled back away from the road and town.
loud music is played at night and pushed right up to the hour on 10pm. need to modify the quite hours. after 8pm tone down the volume of the music.
The Title or the Hotel should list as Hostel not Hotel. the rooms are extremely basic.

The place was nice. They also have a brewery attached to the place. It was nice to have since we got stuck for few hours there due to the insane rain that we had there.
Just a note, the bunk bed would be better if it were more sturdy. it was a bit unstable and scary for the people sleeping on it.

Beautiful grounds to watch animals, we saw a sloth, an opossum and countless birds. The staff were friendly and helpful, I had forgotten my headphones in the room and the staff found me to return them. Rooms are basic but that was expected with the price. Breakfast was good.
