This place is very centrally located, and they were extremely accomodating to our arrival time. The bed was comfortable and clean, and everything from check in to checkout went smoothly.
There was no remote given for the AC, and no screens on windows, so it was a little bit hot and there were mosquitos...

The staff were friendly and check-in was quick. Bed was comfortable and the room was very big so we had plenty of space. Air conditioner worked well.
The breakfast was a nice egg and ham toasty and they provided fruit and toast for my partner who is vegan.
They have a nice outside area you can relax in.
Our water shut off on the morning after we arrived so we couldn't shower or even use the toilet. Later in the day we got some water back, but only cold water. We spoke to staff and it was fixed by the following day, but weren't offered alternative accommodation in the meantime.
The room we were given was right next to reception, and the staff would stay up late talking and watching TV, which made it difficult to get to sleep. They also open up early so you can't lie in.
There were a lot of mosquitos inside the room, so bring bug repellent.
Although it looks relatively close to the colonial zone, it is still far enough away that the area doesn't feel as safe at night.

Staff is great. Location is great. Really good place for a nice simple stay

The very friendly staff and substantial/tasty breakfast were much appreciated. The location is walking distance to Malecon area, bodegas, restaurants, casino, waterfront. The rooftop area is very nice with spa. There are fun design touches in the lobby and dining areas, lots of outdoor seating options. My room was a nice size. I had plenty of room. The bed was comfortable. When the Wi-Fi was working, it was excellent. AC worked great. Close to a casino, if you need ATM. I met the owner of the steakhouse across the street, Charlie. Good food & nice fellow.
My room had a few maintenance issues, the toilet needed repaired. The shower dripped constantly. The power went out often, which was a bit challenging but not terrible. The hotel is not fancy, but an excellent deal for budget-travelers.

I arrived from NY and showed up at this property at 4am only to be told there is no room available.
I have a confirmed booking weeks in advance. Only to be left in the streets in a strange country at 4am
I do like the fact that they are still advertising on
Booking.com and they are not honoring confirmations.

Location
I have stayed in over 25 hotels and Airbnb's in the DR. The staff that operated the breakfast was by the most unpleasant, rude and hostile of any group I have met. This includes a horribly corrupt police officer that I rented from 3 years ago. I will not be back. A friend recommended this hotel because she is friends with the owner. The General

It was overbooked like with many others (read recencions) they helped us to find a new hotel and paid the cab. This hotel was really horrible. We slept as a couple in a 1 personbad and the price was quit high. Probaly the enployees of Maison receive money of the second hotel. It feels like a criminal construction

The staff is awesome and so kind. This is my favorite hotel just because of that.
The jacuzzi is not working, can't wait to use it one day.

The staff, mainly Haitian people just walking around staring at you, doing nothing and talking behind your back, so rude. One Haitian lady knock on my door 30 min before check out, telling me it was time to leave with a really negative attitude. If you are up for some negative vibes this is the place…me? never again!

I liked the privacy of the room, with no windows. The Venezuelan woman was kind.
I didn't like the fact that tourist guests were noisy at 1:56 am and were very inconsiderate about the other guests. Plus, those guests are busybodies and tend to live other people's lives and not their own. Enjoy your own stay, live your own life...

Second time I stayed there. Everything went well. Location is great, rooms are very spacious.

Decent price, good air conditioner, hot water, free wi-fi, central location near to restaurants, government offices, hospitals, banks, malls, etc.
In addition, the staff was very friendly, flexible and diligent to trying to please and accommodate their guests. If you any problem in your room, they try to fix it right away; if you need a fridge, you just ask for it; and if you need them to call you a taxi, they are glad to do it for you.
The place needs a lot of improvement in terms of cleanliness, appearance, food variety, and renovation. The rooms are very small and need more storage where guests can place their clothing or belongings. And although I did not mind to get the same breakfast every day (a sandwich, scramble eggs and natural juice), I was more concerned about the hygiene of the place I was staying: The bathroom shower curtain, the wall and the floor were dirty, even after being cleaned by the maid. The sink was also stained with old mold. The bathroom lacks of a small stand or cabinet where to place the toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, etc.
Some of the rooms have a smell of mold and humidity. I saw that the cover of the toilet in one of the rooms was broken. Some of the blankets and comforters are old, stained or ripped. Also, if you need a clean blanket, you need to wait until they wash yours as they are limited to one per room, according to some of the staff. On another note, I did not feel comfortable to use the jacuzzi because the water was dirty. They also need to fix or get new curtains as some of them are damaged, broken or have holes, which prevent them to block the sunlight efficiently. And finally, the should be more careful with customer service attention. As I was trying to get some information at the front desk, the customer service representative did not pay full attention to the customer as he was and kept playing video games on his cellphone.
