The view was good, especially the sunsets. You just needed to open your door and you were at the beach. However, to find a location without big rocks in which you could actually enter the sea you needed to walk for half an hour southwards. Therefore, the location wasn't as good as we thought. The pool was refreshing, but it was not often cleaned. The first time I entered it was full of bugs floating on the water, either dead or passing away. I partially cleaned it myself with a stick. The second time we went in, it was cleaner.

(We stayed for 3 nights in another hotel similar to this one, and none of the issues cited below were a problem there, even though the cost of the room was 4 times less per night than at Las Balsas.) Please, AVOID this hotel. These are the issues at Las Balsas: Wifi: there wasn't Internet in the room. The staff put as in a second room next to the first one, and there was wifi for one morning, but then it got cut again for the rest of the trip. This happened in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak, and news were pouring out of our flight cancellations, border closings and mandatory quarantines, so we really needed wifi, and all we could do was take a mototaxi daily to a restaurant in town 2 kilometers away and get news there. Breakfast: If you like cold coffee and one egg + 2 bread pieces for breakfast, this is your hotel. One day, a family which we discovered later were the owners of the place (and of a neighbor hotel called Coco Ne) sat for breakfast at the same time as us snd were getting bacon and the sorts for breakfast from the kitchen, so we dared to ask for an additional egg, and we were given one. However, the final day we were charged 12 soles for the egg, whereas the fact that we were going to be charged was never mentioned up front when providing the extra egg. For a hotel which charges like a 4-star hotel for Peruvian standards, being that miserable about one extra egg seemed ridiculous. We had bought 6 eggs for 2 soles at the market at the beginning of the week. Cleanliness: the first room which was given to us smelled dump. There were dark brown spots on the curtains, which were so brown that sun didn't go through that well during day. The first night we went to sleep, we found pieces of dirt below the bedsheets. The lamps and fans were rusty. The toilet paper holder was broken. The shower was less than ideally clean. Staff welcoming: Our welcome the first day was the least warm of all hotels we were in Peru.
