The grounds were beautiful there at the Inn and we loved the pond with the fountain, just a beautiful setting and quiet and peaceful. Obviously the lake was outstanding and we enjoyed watching the sunset over the Lake. We had celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary and the weather was outstanding and we had a great time.
The only concern was the steps leading down to the Lake especially a section that was very steep.

Location was great!
Noise from above.

once a gorgeous lodge type hotel it’s getting dangerously close to crossing the line from shabby chic to old and worn out. The staff especially Judy was fantastic the building loaded with character the grounds gorgeous.
getting a bit shabby.

Beautiful location and great ambience - like going back to the early 1900’s!
Bathroom was too small with very low water pressure. Some things you don’t want to go back in time on!

Very low key, beautiful scenary, great old historical structure, very welcoming staff
I miss having a traditional bed and breakfast "breakfast experience". The food was good but it would be great to have a sit down meal.

Very pretty location, nice beach, clean
Everything is old, worn down, you can't walk around room without creaking floors.. Luke warm water in shower. No modern items like frig or coffee maker, microwave? Lots stairs like 100 down to beach.... no warning and no elevator in multiple level hotels. For people with disabilities or knee / walking issues- big problems!
Oh and no phone/cell service on the property or within 2mi radius of hotel and at beach...

This historic inn offers a beautiful spot, pleasant accommodations, supportive staff and a place for a group of friends to spend time together.
Nothing.

We came back again this year and we will keep returning. This place is like stepping back into the 1920s. it’s elegant, rustic, and maybe a little haunted! Sam the Manager was so kind and gentle. I can’t wait to see him again! Keep up the great work!!!

Breakfast was good, location was fabulous! Staff was excellent and attentive.
Rooms were not that comfy. Chairs were not comfy and the room was tired, plus we did not like the sink located outside the bathroom.

Secluded property inside a resindential area . quaint and very historical. it gives you the feeling of going back in time
owner is taking the property into granted . amazing place but no one cleans the exterior i.e lobby area or balcony . No upgrade .

The inn is quaint with lots of character, friendly and accommodating staff, good location. Great beach. Breakfast was good. We will definitely stay here again.
Lots of steps down to the beach. But this can’t be helped and there are benches along the way.

Just an amazing stay. A 1920's inn in a beautiful, secluded, quiet Lake Michigan beach town. Easy drive from Chicago, but you'd never guess you were so close. It's not your normal modern hotel with pool, tv etc. It's like going to summer camp in all the best ways. Historic building with homey, roomy main lobby filled with Mission era chairs and pottery, big gathering room with tables set up for puzzles and games, piano that kids and adults really do play. Stairs to Lake Michigan beach across the street. Green wooded grounds with a pond with frogs and fish and a fountain picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, first circle, charcoal grill. Rocking chairs on the front porch facing Lake Michigan (view blocked by woods, but sound and sunset is not). It's the "north woods" resort of my grandparent's youth. The most peaceful, relaxing place I've been in years. The families with kids seem to love it. Easy access to beaches, bicycles, ample parking for guest which makes access to the wider area easy too. There are no TVs, but good wifi. Quiet hours 11-8AM because it's an old building and sound travels, but people adhere to it and it's really nice sleeping with the windows open listening to the breeze on the trees and the frogs singing. Absolutely magical. I want to come back.
They have coffee and breakfast baskets in the morning, but otherwise you have to go out for food. There are lots of options in the area. Good area for food, particularly on the weekend. It's a resort area, so a lot of places are closed Monday-Wednesday, when I was first there. But there was enough open that I ate well and a lot more opened on Thursday. Nice farmers markets in the area. Lost of breweries and wineries.

Gorgeous building and property, but needs some love. The rooms were very small. Some availability of snacks or refreshments, even in machines would be nice. The check in guys were nice.
Forgot to turn in my key at checkout, called lady at front desk and told her it. She was a little accusatory, and grabbed it from my brother's hand when he returned it.

Lakeside Inn is a lovely old lodge. It is huge with many places to congregate or not! Though mostly obscured by mature trees, there is a view of the lake and a nice beach.
The inn and room were tired but clean. I loved the open-out windows!

Absolutely charming old inn steps away from Lake Michigan. Comfortable rooms, accommodating staff, charming touches and history at every turn. If you want comfort and old world charm, book yourself a stay at The Lakeside Inn. Stay a few days!
No complaints!

The area was very nice and relaxing.
Our room was right by the back entrance and dining area and would get loud at times. The air conditioner was right next to the bed and was extremely loud, refrigerator in the room made noise. It was not a nice quiet get away. Frustrated could not get a good night sleep and to add to it, could hear the people above us having sex every night and morning.😫
I think our stay would have been better if we may had a different room. We were in room 1, not the best room to stay in. The only positive thing about the room, was the jetted tub.
