Ideal location, great restaurant and restaurant staff

Excellent location, and the hotel is truly iconic to the area. The restaurant boasts stunning views.

The hairdryer didn't work consistently.

Beautiful location. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable lobby. Wonderful breakfast! Balcony rooms have a lovely view of the harbour - ask for one of these if that's important. Our garden room at the back of the hotel had a view of a grass bank.

Our room decor was a bit tired. Plug drained very slowly.

The location is excellent, just steps away from the train station. However, the hotel has unfortunately lost much of its fjord view due to the giant cruise ship dock and other facilities that have been built in between.

The property is way overhyped and does not deserve its high ratings. We stayed in two rooms one in the historic section and one in the newer section and felt genuinely misled by the reviews and expectations they created. The property is old, run-down, and in need of a major refresh. I love historic hotels, but this did not feel like a grand historic hotel; the historic section in particular did not justify the premium price. Do not pay extra to stay in the historic section. Set your expectations closer to a Motel 6 than a grand historic hotel, and you may be less disappointed. Based on our experience with both the historic and newer sections, this property is simply not worth the high rating or the premium prices it commands.
