Very nice breakfast. The room was OK, nothing fancy, but it did the job. Nice with the garden, where you could relax and enjoy the sun.
It's smart with the self-service check in, if you arrive early or late. And nice with the opportunity to heat water in the room.
In general, the hotel seems a but worn down. It could use some TLC. The same could be said about the outside area. Old run-down chairs.
It's a bit of af bummer, that there is an advertised restaurant, and it apparently is permanently closed.

The hotel is located close to the center, everything is close. Sauna and swimming pool help with raining weather. In the garden you can drink a coffee. Staff is really helpful. We had great time there 😊
water in the swimming pool was a little bit cold

Breakfast good - except for the coffee
limited parking, very basic room, coffee at breakfast, staff appeared overworked or slightly disinterested, no/limited evening meal availability on site

I am a mountain biker and it was extremely convenient to have safe, comfortable lodging close to Germany's northernmost mountain bike resort: Hahnenklee.
The hillside location is amazing, with views to the nearby peaks, the bike park, and small town of Hahnenklee below. The 100+ year old building itself retains a somewhat awkward and improvised, internal layout. The lobby features a 60s, retro vibe: a funky throwback to the resort getaway this area must have been (or still is?). I couldn't tell but I liked it in contrast to the cold, ultra-modern chains I usually stay in.
The hotel staff, consisting of one person besides the kitchen cook, was very friendly and spoke English and German.
I didn't opt for the hotel breakfast, a €12 option on Booking.com. At check in however I learned that the hotel charges only €8, which I also declined but later regretted since it smelled absolutely delicious and looked awesome.
This is an independent, family-run hotel and I strongly support this type of franchise, however my negative experiences outweighed the positives so I am unsure I will return. See below
My travel companion and I are mountain bikers who came just for the nearby mountain bike park, a local gem for summer tourism in the region. Despite our hopes, there was no possibility of storing our €8000 worth of bicycles in the room itself. The hotel has a policy for outdoor storage of bicycles in a dry storage facility, separate from the hotel. The small building looks like a former gazebo or outdoor eating area? Access for all is controlled via a single key hanging in the lobby for anyone to obtain, and the building featured glass windows which one could break to steal our bicycles. This was extremely unsettling, however our assumption that the surrounding town was too sleepy to host any active thieves thankfully proved correct. Another mountain biker had a high quality bicycle stored here and we actually met him on the mountain bike trails the following day, however we did not exchange details about this strange hotel.
The internals of the building itself were interesting (difficult) to navigate. An almost confusing series of stairways and hallways finally led to our room.
Once in the room, my fellow traveler and I were dismayed that the twin beds were combined into a single, king-size bed, despite our booking preference. We had checked-in late that day and did not want to bother with notifying management: it took us about five minutes to separate them by ourselves.
The bathroom in our room (number 45) was new but extremely tiny in size. I am 6'4" (196 cm) tall and my knees and head protruded through the doorway when seated on the toilet. I was reminded of my trip to Tokyo, so small where the bathroom dimensions here.
Unfortunately the night I stayed featured hot, summer weather outside, and therefore I must complain about the lack of air conditioning. I slept with the window open however was bathed in my own sweat throughout the night. Having access to a fan or room temperature control might've changed that.

We had lovely apartment for 4peole/family. There was small room for kids to play, that was a big plus. Swimming pool you need to book, but then it's only for you. Breakfast buffet, lot's to choose. Definitely will be back
