The place is great. First time tent experience, wasn't sure about it but it turned out to be not bad at all. I would definitely recommend it. They exceeded my expectation when they arranged flower petals to celebrate my birthday - it was a lovely gesture.
Only disappointment is that I think bookings.com did not properly describe the property as a result the room we were allocated is not what we imagined from the description. The venue gave us 1 night on the room we expected for the experience. Also my husband lost his sunglasses and still not found unfortunately.

Our retreat at Summerfield Rose Retreat was as magical as staying in a fairy forest. The Sabi River was exceptionally high, creating an ambience of exclusivity. Even during high temperatures, the forest remained comfortably cool (we barely switched on the air conditioning).
There was a spot at the pool with our names on it (figuratively!), and the ladies at the pool bar served the BEST locally crafted gin. The staff are very friendly and classy but skillfully remained in the background, enhancing the experience that you are actually at a retreat.
The dinner menu might initially seem short on selections, but every meal is prepared with care and was mouthwatering.
We will definitely return to Summerfield Rose Retreat and we will recommend it to all our friends.
I wish the spa options were a little more affordable. Even though I appreciate that it's exclusive, any massage at that price would have to have been almost supernatural to satisfy my expectations!

The property is absolutely stunning and set on the Sabie River. So much detail has gone into making special spaces to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The restaurant is lovely, the spa treatments were amazing and the staff are the best there is. We were made to feel so welcome and we loved our two days there. Nothing was too much trouble and every staff member was so friendly.
We stayed in the Stone House at the top of the property. The setting is beautiful and the sunsets incredible, but I don’t think it’s set up for Winter stays. The house is sparsely decorated, with cement floors, walls, kitchen etc. The fireplace doesn’t work as it just smokes up the house. It would have been nice to have a gas heater or aircon in the living area. Some extra blankets for bedrooms would also be nice. The bedding is hard and noisy, so not the most comfortable sleep. The main bathroom is also outside, which is quite tricky in the middle of the night and cold.
In Summer, I’m sure it’s absolutely spectacular!

I liked everything about the place.. the staff especially Manzini.. were friendly. The food were amazing... joooh the sound of the river we even thought it was raining.

Absolutely gorgeous room and facilities. So nice to have real coffee and milk in the morning within the room. Amazing breakfast, even if you need to take away a breakfast box early. Lovely staff. Great restaurant! Close to Kruger.
The only real criticism is that they don’t have a trolley to carry bags from the parking lot to the rooms, so the staff have to carry them, even if the bags are heavy. Also, it’s quite expensive. However, it’s normal for the area. I only wish we had spent more time enjoying the property (although that would have meant less time in Kruger)

Very friendly staff & beautiful property. We had an awesome luxury tent surrounded by nature. Everything was very clean and food and drinks were delicious!

I loved the location
I was very disappointed in the attention to detail. It was my wife's birthday and this was communicated to the staff well in advance. I requested a romantic dinner setting on the Saturday. This was done amongst all the other guests with the only difference being a few rose pebbles on the table. I also communicated the breakfast arrangements well in advance, but the staff were vague and caused great discomfort as a result. The staff would often take long to respond to requests. We also had an issue upon departure when the staff member on duty did not explain the departure procedure(permit) with us and the security guard requested us to drive back to reception but I subsequently refused.
