Very pleasant stay. Nice and quiet.

I stayed with my husband and our two young kids at this resort for labor day weekend. The cabin and resort was just as expected, but Gull lake was not what we expected. We brought our boat, and the resort gave us a dock right outside our cabin to keep it at during our stay, and maps to get to the landing nearby. The cabin is very charming and quirky, we loved the decor. The space was small but just the right size for us. Kitchen was well equipped, and plenty of bedding. There are no towels, so don't forget to bring your own! The porch was lovely and the sunset incredible. I had wanted to make a fire in the fireplace in the evening, but it was too warm, and we didn't want to run the AC just to balance it out. At the property, there is a shared fireplace, you have to pay for firewood. They have a large cabinet filled with lawn games and beach toys. The beach suited us fine, we were the only ones on the beach both days. It is a bit small, and by the afternoon, the lake waves from all the boats brought in a ton of mud and seaweed, so my daughter refused to swim. There was a gentleman there cleaning the beach off diligently raking all morning, which we appreciated. My son and I made a huge sand castle, which was a blast. I took each of the kids for a kayak ride with me, there were 3-4 kayaks. There were a couple of eagles in a nest in a tree in the property, which was cool to see. We also saw lots of deer. We enjoyed sitting on the swing outside of our cabin along the shore and fishing from the dock. My husband got up early to fish in the morning, which was peaceful and quiet, the water was calm and smooth as glass. He tried to take the kids fishing in the afternoon, and they had to stay in the bay just off the dock because the lake was so busy with pleasure boaters ripping around and their wake knocking our fishing boat around. This was a huge disappointment for us, we had not realized that this lake is for people on jet boats, skiing/tubing, and bar hopping, that have zero considerations for making a huge wake right next to someone fishing. Because of this, it really was not a good lake for fishing, which was a huge disappointment for us. If I had known this, we wouldn't have booked (fishing was the main activity we wanted to do for the trip, and how my husband is able to relax and recharge). We ended up leaving a day early because the lake was so busy and we had run out of things to occupy the kids.

We loved how close we were to the water and how quiet and quaint the setting was. Great place to just relax and enjoy the beauty of Gull Lake. All in all, a great week!
