The grounds were beautiful, we had rooms facing the back garden and river. Very tranquil hotel and tastefully done. The breakfast was generous and excellent. The staff were all very kind and super accomodating. Overall very good value for money.

The beds were quite hard and the rooms were dark but overall not a big issue. The biggest thing lacking is that hotel does not offer lunch or dinner. This is a.serious problem because the town (Maua) is very rough and it is unsuitable to go anywhere if you don't look local. This area is a major khat (miraa) production center and you don't want to get into issues with people under the influence. We stayed in Maua to visit Meru National Park (30 minutes away) and when we stopped in town to buy snacks, the car was surrounded by 4-5 super high street kids sniffing glue who were highly aggressive. It is not a safe townl to venture into. While it is understandable that the hotel probably cannot afford to maintain a restaurant (we were the only guests staying there both nights), they should, at a minimum, offer a paid pickup service from a local restaurant so the guests don't have to go out into town. Shekinah - a budget restaurant in town - offers good food but the location is not safe to park in or walk to.

Food was fairly good; nice garden, relatively inexpensive

Cleanliness was not good; the place is infested with cockroaches, which bothered me the most. Rooms are very simple but thats not a problem; I was expecting that kind of accommodation. But not having mosquito nets coupled with the cockroach problem is a no go for me.
