The structure is new and well maintained. The beach is literally a few steps from the lobby. The room was spotless, very large and exceptionally bright, with a nice view from the balcony.

Every time I let someone talk me into choosing this kind of accommodations, I remember why I should NEVER choose this kind of accommodations. The staff is ceremonious and contrived but almost never truly helpful (not blaming them, they're not the owners and are probably underpaid so they legitimately don't give a sh**), lengthy check-in, everything's awfully overpriced with no reason nor any real added value (better food, drinks and massages can be found just a couple of miles from the resort, in the village of Trou d'Eau Douce for ONE THIRD of the price), the wifi is totally unusable in the room, in the morning you'll wait 15 minutes to get a coffee, and 20 for the food because god forbid they make everything available self-service, no, they want to look sophisticated, so you have to order your breakfast to an overwhelmed waiter who'll deliver it to the wrong table and cannot tell the difference between fried eggs and an omelette. But what really drives me insane is the signature disgrace of all these wannabe-fancy resorts: the bloody "boutique-hotel bathroom". It works like this: when they start drafting the blueprint of the venue, they look for the folk who graduated with the lowest grade in the local University of Architecture, then they get them drunk, and ask them to design the bathroom. The outcome is invariably some dumba** nonsensical "creative" solution that overturns not just the most basic principles of ergonomics and usability 101, but even the common sense of a sixth grader. I'm talking about bullsh** like a bathroom with a glass wall where you can't poop unless you kick everyone out of the room or, in our case, this abomination here (see the pic, taken from the entrance door). When I read "en suite" I definitely didn't think they meant that the bathroom was LITERALLY in the room. I mean, SERIOUSLY? What's the point of this layout?

The night manager did an exceptional job on our arrival. Thank you. Also Viana and Blessing and Priyan and the rest of the team at the restaurant were really good.

-As a solo female traveller with some dietary issues coming to Mauritius and the Salt of Palmar totally unplanned and very very last minute I was thrilled by the high level of service and ability of adaptation I met at “ Good kitchen”; this homegrown restaurant with huge heart. The kindness, heartily hospitality and dedication which staff puts into their work is that what makes a visit unforgettable. As one of my favourite member of staff put it: “ I am not happy, if you are not happy 😊 I loved making gluten-free crumpet and healthy salad with the fantastic chefs. The breakfast a la carte menu is so variable that you can stay a whole week and taste something new every single day. -The location is superb. From my balcony I could enjoy the sunrise over the ocean and from the westerly side of the hotel right on the beautiful sandy beach a special sunset. - There is no classical reception area, very cool ❣️ - Nice massages at the Spa

Everything, we have only been home a day but would go back tomorrow. The staff are incredibly attentive, nothing is too much trouble. Loic, Avi, Blessing, Priyanka, just to name a few of the amazing team at Salt. They really do make you feel at home. The feel of the hotel is so relaxed and chilled even though your in an amazing setting. We loved this as we didn't want to feel we had to dress up to sit and have a drink. We had an early flight and so arrived before we could check in our room. This didn't matter at all, they told us to go and help ourselves to breakfast, made us complimentary tea and coffee and a refreshing welcome drink. They even have a shower room you can use to freshen up before you can check in. We were keen to check out the beach so waited for our room to be ready there. And what a beach it is! The views from the hotel are spectacular 👌 We were there in winter but there was always beanbags or sun loungers free to sit on. They have a still or sparkling water station near the pool with fresh lemon, mint to get yourself a refreshing drink. There was suncream and body lotion dispensers in the toilets, which was so useful when your down on the beach. The activities planned by the hotel are fantastic, we particularly loved getting involved in the beach volleyball games which are held at the hotel next door. This added a social aspect to our stay and we made some great friends as a result. I would definitely recommend Salt of Palmar and we can't wait to come back!

The restaurant team Hoomit,Vish,Vinesh, Isha and the kitchen team Shiva Jiji are exceptional. They put passion and heart in every dish. The quality of the raw ingredients is extremely high. I am a picky eater and I have travelled around the island- being in several hotels. No place is like the food you will eat at Salt of Palmar. The food is not cheap not expensive. The price is fair for what you get : fresh quality ingredients cooked elegantly. I recommend to preorder the dishes in the menu as they are delicious and the restaurant and kitchen team pick the best ingredients on daily basis. You won’t eat any frozen meat here. A big thank you to Sanjay and his level of professionalism and kindness. He has been accommodating any requests and always made sure we are pleased and happy with the food and service. He is so genuine in everything he does. He will look after you. Rohan is also very sweet and always checking that you are doing well and you are satisfied. He will always ask you if you want more appetiser or bread and he is so attentive. The staff of Salt of Palmar is the best part of the hotel. Its people. They are all amazing, will meet you with a genuine smile and kindness. The stay is so relaxing with so many different activities from painting to yoga to aqua gym.

The only downside is that once in a while there is a smell coming from the bathroom and it goes all over the room.

Relaxed atmosphere in a picturesque setting. Super friendly staff and excellent food. Don’t miss out their chicken curry - yum! Cozy room with comfortable beds.

Nothing. I was there for a wedding, and everyone in our group loved this hotel.

This hotel is super well designed, comfortable, laid back, friendly, warm and extremely well appointed. Everything was thought of from a bag to carry your beach stuff around, to aloe Vera gel for sunburn, to a special spacious bathroom for getting showered and ready when checking in or out. I was super impressed by how happy and friendly all the staff were. This is not a flashy hotel but I enjoyed it better than some very expensive places due to the ambience and ease of everything. The staff run by the lovely Med all knew us personally and made sure we were happy.

Nothing negative to report other than occasional slow service which is a global problem right now.

My room - Bang on the Beach - literally looked out on the to the beautiful beach and ocean. The name lived up to its promise. The beach was clean and lovely, and the staff raked it every morning and cleared any seaweed that may have washed up. The pool was beautiful and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were pretty soundproof, and even though I was close to the entertainment, I could not hear it once I was in my room.

It's not really a complaint, just the nature of how the dining worked... meals were a-la-carte which meant that there was a bit of a wait (not long) to get your meals. This was only slightly problematic in the morning when we had to wait for our first cup of coffee :) If you're used to the buffet style dining that a lot of other hotel's and resorts have this might be a bit of an adjustment.

This is a very cool hotel for younger people. Things we loved: * The range of activities that are included is great - we did a snorkelling trip, SUP, kayaking etc which was great. * The rooftop bar was excellent and we had the best cocktails we had anywhere in Mauritius (thanks to the excellent barman Vee!) * The breakfast is very good, if a bit expensive (worth upgrading to the breakfast option if you can as the al a cart options are pricey). The bakery is excellent and does a great range of pastries etc. *There was one really lovely waitress called Priyanka who was so friendly and helpful - one of the only restaurant staff who was like this (see below). * Very nice pool and we loved that there was a free flow sparkling water tap!

* Most of the restaurant staff are really shocking - every day we were there we sat down and got ignored, and had to make several requests to order or get the bill each time. It wasted a lot of time and made us late for trips etc because we could never get any service. There were one or two exceptions (thanks Priyanka!) but most of the staff are terrible. They say they will serve you on the beach if you press the call button, but in reality nobody ever comes and you'll have to get up and walk to the restaurant to get any service. * The restaurant is WAY overpriced and the options are limited - my partner doesn't eat beef or pork and so the only meat dish available to him was chicken curry. The menu is very expensive for what it is, and the location of the hotel is in the middle of nowhere with no other restaurants around, so you're stuck with the menu at SALT. It is also very annoying that they charge like $5 for a bottle of water which is freely available by the pool or in the rooms. * The spa was overpriced and we didn't like the hard selling of products at the end. The massage was fine but very expensive, and afterwards the therapist tried to sell us some salt for $12 (LOL) by telling us we needed it to solve various problems in our lives she had 'expertly' identified (which don't exist). * Wierd thing but the floor and mirrors in our hotel room were always wet, no matter what time of day. I think they have issues with condensation or something. It was kind of gross walking around on a wet floor all day. * They didn't restock the water in the room ONCE during the whole week we were there. We had to ask them to re-stock the coffee twice, and they literally just restocked the coffee and nothing else. Pretty bad service for a hotel of this standard.

Lovely location, right on the beach (nice, clean, sandy beach!). Helpful, friendly staff ...always willing to help. Very quiet. Loved the choice on the menus ... all very good. All dishes using local producers so all fresh and tasty. Loved the vegan choices as well. The 2 evenings of entertainment were very nice and not the usual loud music ...The sea was a great temperature and not too many boats.

The menu system being on the App ... we had the idea to not use our phones on the weekend so it was a little annoying at first that we always seemed to be asked for our phones ... but there are paper menus so in fact we did not need our phones.
