We had an amazing stay at La Magdeleine. Its charming ambiance was truly fantastic, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The comfort level was perfect, from the plush beds to the cozy seating areas. What we liked most is the property’s rich history. It struck a perfect balance, offering a glimpse into the past without overwhelming guests with ostentation. Great staff, attentive all the time. An amazing setting for diner and superbe breakfast. A great discovery - certainly a top 10 in our list of worldwide hotels (and the list is long !)
Nothing !!

Attentive staff, food options especially the good to have Michelin star restaurant, room was clean and classy, the view from the room overlooking the gardens, the pool, organisation of various evening time activities like a movie in the garden..we were with a kid and felt extremely welcomed and well taken care off…
Nothing but perhaps the bath tub and no standing shower options but I guess this forced me to enjoy the bath as I must on a holiday!

Hotel was a hidden gem
Breakfast was lovely and plentiful
Dinner was amazing although limited menu

The house is beautiful: I hadn't expected it to be as old as the eighteenth century, and the grounds are stunning. Away from the house itself, the staff were friendly and always happy to help with any queries.
The breakfast was really good on all counts: however I think the dinner menu could be a bit more varied , and allow more choice away from the Nouvelle Cuisine.

The facility is very nice, there were ice cubes and refrigerators at the pool bar which we used (just ourselves). Bed was very comfortable. Quality of breakfast. Every morning a small dessert and fruit salad is served.
Unfortunately, we spent our honeymoon in this hotel. In advance, it may be necessary to mention: We are very friendly guests and usually have very nice vacations as we are very friendly, open-minded people who get along well with everyone. The hotel is visually very beautiful and I mean also listed, it has an incredible amount of charm. Which has advantages and disadvantages. We think in France the service is generally rather poor. But in this hotel it is virtually non-existent. We don't know if it was because we are German or english-speaking, but every day we had the impression that we were not noticed, but all the other French guests were. We were rarely asked in the morning if we wanted eggs. The waitress simply did not listen to us when we ordered something. So she brought wrong things every day (wrong Coffee, wrong eggs etc.) At check in, NO word was spoken to us after an 8 hour journey. We were silently given a key and then had to carry our luggage to the third floor without an elevator. It was just the whole staff standing around and gossiping. When they are not chatting they are busy pretending to be working on something. This was extremely noticeable to us. The employees had a kind of meeting place in the courtyard of the hotel and there often loudly gossiped and laughed until 02:00 at night. However, since the windows in the building are very old, you can hear every word. The breakfast is rather average for a 4 star hotel. Very sweet and rather little hearty. Quality is ok for france. Unfortunately little choice.
To our misfortune, the WiFi/WLAN of the hotel is down for 3 days and so we could not even watch Netflix or surf the Internet while it was raining. There was no reason or information on demand what is done that it runs again. It was simply the statement: No, the Wi-Fi does not work. Sorry. That was it. The employees in the hotel are so unprofessional that I have never experienced.

there is potential for this property to be outstanding, but the extremely rude and hostile staff take any positive experience away.
do not expect a decent night sleep as AC is controlled centrally and is not switched on for spring, despite days over 26*C. it is advised to sleep with the windows open instead.
Air Conditioning is not turned on despite being advertised
Views are not as described, despite advertising “all rooms with a view of the terrace and gardens”, the picture below shows that actually the view from room 201 is of a neighbours balcony and backyard with a trampoline and the Staff smoking area.
The hotel staff caused hostility and friction over a small issue regarding the AC. I expect from hotels with Michelin stars to be able to resolve minor customer complaints in a professional manner.
there are significant cracks in the marble shower floor
the pool is very dated and tired
the hot tub is broken and according to other reviews, has been for some time

We had a lovely stay at La Magdeleine! We loved sitting outside with a bottle of wine, or just read a book.
The room was clean and spacious, doors and windows are hard to open and close becasue its a old house. But overall great! Breakfast was good!
The hotel is about half an hour drive from Cassis, Marseille and Aix.. But there's nothing much to do around, so plan your stay, especially if you are not eating in the hotel's restaurant!

The property and restaurants were just amazing. So relaxing.
the rooms get warm when it’s 95 degrees F outside but during most months this is likely not an issue.

The property is beautiful, the room was huge and super confortable. The bathroom was almost the room size.. amazing
It’s a bit far from Cassis or other areas. You definitely need to drive and have sufficient time to move around if you want to do more than staying at the hotel

Wonderful place. Restaurants are just an incredible experience. The fabulous team are always on top of everything. Mr Dandine is the perfect host, not to speak of his fabulous cooking creations. Breakfast also perfect. Incredible, thanks very much.
Absolutely nothing.

La Madeleine manages a feeling of informality along with exceptional staff and comfort. Very relaxing and restorative. Also the sheer beauty of the place, the sound of the crickets, the plane trees, the lovely pool,

Loved the setting, fantastic staff and setting, food excellent, nothing too much trouble. Rooms were very Provençal and generally comfortable.
Very poor air conditioning in our room and pillows that I think could be better. Pool area a touch tired with a jacuzzi that didn’t work for example, but really that’s all.

Dinner was good although the wines were expansive for Provencal wines
We had booked a junior suite room 111 be very careful when booking this room as the dustbin men came both mornings we were there at 5am so we did not have a decent sleep. We were very disappointed that no-one had mentioned this fact when booking

Breakfast was very good.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Dinner was a bit overpriced but worse was the lack of atmosphere in the dining room as, despite the lovely music and very good service, the lack of other diners made it rather dull.
