my reservation were included breakfast originally but we changed our mind “no breakfast”. The owner only refunded yen1300 per person which should be yen2000. many excuses and dishonest. shower room have chemical smells which cause us irritated nose and throat very uncomfortable while taking showers. it was continuous two nights. both my husband and me have the same symptoms. no clothes hook and closet in the rooms. it’s very inconvenient for visitors. it’s not worth for the price.

A little reminder of the UK in beautiful Karuizawa. Dinner and breakfast were super authentic and yummy. The owner and his staff are so friendly and welcoming (Chris even took my five year old to collect eggs from the chickens).

Even though the portions were big, I could have eaten three breakfasts ;)

Homey and comfortable. Chris and staff were hard working, generous and personable. Rental bikes available, in very good working order. Location walkable to park, village and coffee shops as well as the charming restaurant/retail area of Harunire Terrace.

Great room! Great owner! Quaint location! Nice breakfast! Felt like we were being personally taken care of by the owner of the property.

Excellent location to be able to experience all the beauty that the Karuizawa area offers. Very comfortable rooms and peaceful grounds, loved the wild birds. Staff was super friendly and added to the great experience. Management/Chris was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Definitely take the opportunity to have dinner and or breakfast in Albert’s British Dining.

I was welcomed by Chris and friendly staffs and enjoyed the stay. (Not too friendly which I liked) They offered me a simple dinner as well, and he was also generous enough to drop me off at the destination the next day!

Great experience as British style meals and stay in Karuizawa. Staff hospitality and service was also great.

We loved how welcoming the Wellies team was! We could see that Wellies team authentically enjoys accommodating the guests, and that made our stay memorable.

We really enjoyed our experience at Hotel Wellies! Chris and the team were super fun and provided a great bed & breakfast experience. The location was great for our trip; we were here to bird at the Karuizawa Bird Sanctuary and hang out in the Hanrunire Terrace area. We rented eBikes from Hotel Wellies and it was perfect for getting around. The breakfast was AWESOME. We also did dinner one night and can definitely recommend that as well.

All the staff members were so kind both of us felt extremely relaxed.

Friendly host, quiet area, modern facilities, good amenities, warm room (minus seven degrees outside). Can't really say much more as we were there so briefly, just needing a place to sleep on a drive to Tokyo.

Disappointed that breakfast didn't start until 8:45. Our schedule meant we had to leave early, so missed out on it.

This hotel has a great ambiance. The decorations, uniquely-themed guest rooms, and general layout of the hotel (loved the chicken coop near the patio!) all help this hotel stand out. Make sure to try the full English breakfast!

I don't really have any complaints regarding this hotel. I suppose extra pillows would have been nice (I'm always very particular about pillows), but I'm sure you could get some more at the front desk if you ask.

The food portions were really generous! Chris and Judy also check in often to offer any help needed, especially for places to go around town. Freddie the dog is a joy to have around! The staff loves Singapore’s laksa, so if you happen to have any stock available, it’ll be great to share with them! :)

I stayed here with my girlfriend for one night and I wish we could've stayed longer. Wellies is especially good if you're feeling homesick as a foreigner or want the feeling of visiting another country as a Japanese person. Because this is the closest you will get to traveling abroad. The atmosphere, the hospitality, Freddie (you will get to know him) and the food - everything was excellent. I could give black pudding another try, challenge myself to some Marmite in the morning and could indulge myself in some great whiskey. We checked in a bit late and did not plan to have dinner there at first, but they were nice enough to still cook for us and we even got some desert as well. In the morning we could even get our own eggs from the chickens they have right at the Hotel. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable (although a bit too hard for me personally). Everything was clean and we felt right at home. Even in winter, the rooms will be heated nicely - no worries there. They even have portable record players with classic records that we could use in our room. Classy. In the morning, when we checked out, Chris (the owner) offered to drive us to our next destination, which is extremely kind and appreciated. Do not hesitate to ask them for advice of where to go and what to look at in Karuizawa - they know a good bunch and will surely be able to help you out and have a great time. Overall: if you come to Karuizawa, come to Wellies. You will definitely not regret it. Perhaps bring Chris some Maltesers - he loves them! Wellies is just like your home away from home.

It was one of the best accommodates we have ever stayed. Judy, Chris, and other staff members were very approachable and were easy to talk to. They made our experiences there a memorable one. Great food (their English breakfast was amazing) and great liquors and alcohol. Most importantly, Freddy was very adorable and friendly. He made our day by just staying there near us. We definitely would like to recommend this place to our friends and families. Thank you again for the wonderful service.

So homely with really accomodating, friendly, and helpful staff! Lovely room and excellent breakfast. We also had the dinner, which was delicious and plentiful! Couldn't have asked for more, highly recommend this place!
