This was our first time staying on a house boat and we loved it - the location, the facilities, as well as the view. With the house boat came an extra boat that we were able to rent during our stay in order to explore Giethoorn by boat. There is a bus stop right opposite of the house boat which is very convenient if you come by public transport. Our overall experience, also with the owners, was generally very positive and they were very helpful when it came to recommending places to go for lunch/dinner/coffee and even grocery shopping. Since the house boat was such an authentic and unique experience to us, we would always decide to come back.

The way the owners handled the logistics with regards to the extra boat was a bit disappointing though: we had booked the boat for a full day a few months prior to our stay, which we paid for eventually. However, we were only able to use the boat for half a day and a little bit for the following day as they had slotted in other guests for the use of the boat last minute. As such, we had to take the boat out for an additional half a day on the day we were supposed to check out, also when it was raining, unfortunately. The owners did suggest we take their neighbours boat, but had also mentioned that the other group would only need it for an hour or two, which would have been fine for us, as not to make a big deal of it. It eventually took them 4-5 hours instead and we had spent half our day waiting around for it.

Owners are very friendly and very helpful, even their children are charming.. A perfect affordable boat stay in a beautiful part of the Netherlands. They have an electric boat you can use to tour the canals yourself. Fully equipped kitchen and deck to enjoy. Close to transportation.

We couldn't think of anything we didn't like. Great place to stay and enjoy a quiet harbour.

In the centre of town, the boat overlooks a small and cute harbour. It is small, but very well equipped. We cooked both days without any problem. The area is quiet, easy to reach by bus from the station. The hosts are very friendly and attentive. The shower is luxurious, the bed is comfortable. We borrowed a boat to discover the old town which was magical. In short, we couldn't have wished for anything better!

The location is really good, very relaxing. It is what you can expect. It is small, but you have everything that you need. The family is very-very friendly

I highly recommend this place as it is well situated. Most importantly, the owners go above and beyond to ensure you are satisfied. I was extremely impressed. Special thanks to Marco / Jachthaven for the professionalism and attentiveness they provide to guests. This experience became my favorite in the total journey. The boat is very clean and comfortable. I also enjoyed the outdoor at the end of the day. Be sure to take the family sloop since they will give you the prober tour map that fit your rental time, it is for a very fair price, gorgeous!
