Both single beds were positioned on a slope. Extractor fan was on too long and very noisy

Great accommodation above a bar! The room was quite lovely, with a nice view out of the window and nice decorations inside the room. The welcoming sweets in the room were a nice touch. All amenities in the room was good. I could not ask for a better location. Felt very safe in the area. It is right in the area with restaurants, cafes, and shops. Walking distance from the train station as well. I would certainly stay here again on my next visit.

Everything was amazing, rooms fab, photos dont do this place justice. Staff were lovely and accommodating to make our friends birthday more special, planning a return visit later in the year 😀

Cosy and clean

It was clean and our room and bathroom were well designed and spacious, and we were welcomed.

We had so little sleep because of the noise from outside that we left after one night. I think this problem could be solved with triple glazing, but we just had the old sash windows. I don't know whether there is a problem with noise proofing the bedroom - e.g. that the building is listed as it is a lovely old building.

Central location, clean warm room, comfortable bed, great staff, discount on drinks in bar.

The location is amazing, the staff is lovely and extremely helpful! You feel very welcome at the hotel. The room is nice and cosy, it has everything you need and looked very modern and renovated.

The only reason why I did not score a 10, is because the shower head was very dirty and it kind of put me off showering, but for a one night stay it did not affect me much.

Noisy neighbours during the late evening. The bedside lamp and the sink light didn't work so there was only the rather harsh overhead light.

The central location and the availability of reasonably priced parking. The drinks deals were amazing too. We had free beers and cheap shots. Also 2 for 1 cocktails!

The room (9) was spacious and comfortable but it fronts onto the main road which was obviously noisy. No complaints from me, I’d sleep in a clothes line but my partners a light sleeper. She was sleepless 🙈.

I asked for a quiet room, did not receive it, Parking was about 5-6 minutes away in a very secured (pay of parking) multi level garage. The room was extremely tiny ( I believe a jail cell is bigger) , the room had noise level issues. However I would return because of the location.

Very central and easy to get around. Room was clean and well laid out and beds were comfy

Room is above a noisy pub but ear plugs were provided and pub closed at midnight. Toilet flushing (loud pipes) actually made more noise than the busy pub! And flushing went on all night. There is a green fluorescent light strip above the bed that stayed on all night making it impossible to sleep. When I asked if it could be switched off so I could sleep. I was told it was in case of fire and had to be permanently switched on which meant I didn’t sleep for 4 days 😑

Very helpful, friendly staff. Organised an extra nights stay for us at very short notice. Excellent location in beautiful Durham. Lovely clean room, with excellent facilities and a lovely comfortable bed. Offered to look after our bags, should we have needed to leave them on check out. All in all, it was a very relaxing stay.

It was beautiful and so cozy! It was unexpected because its located on top of a bar, but it was just such a lovely room, very clean, great shower, excellent location, easy check in, just perfect.

no breakfast offered but did not mind... location was great.. noise stopped around midnight from the bar and outside which was no problem and room quiet until 6:30 when noise from pipes became an issue.. but was what i expected anyway for a city centre hotel. Gillian on check in couldn't have been more friendly on giving instructions about wifi, room and keys to room etc ... she was great

Great location, 5 mins from cathedral. 20 mins from station. Very clean. Shower was good & powerful. Was able to check in early & had option to leave bags after checkout. Lots of places to eat & shop very close by.

Room was very noisy - think it was the pipes/plumbing. There was a banging noise quite often. It’s on top of a busy pub but the noise from that wasn’t bad but we stayed midweek. The fire alarm was going off around 9am. There were no staff around to help, so we were stood outside in rain, clueless as to what to do. Luckily a member of staff turned up to start work about 20 mins later but they had no idea that the alarm was even going off. The fire brigade didn’t turn up, the staff just turned the alarm off & sent us back in
