I'll get the bad stuff out of the way first because they were almost deal breakers. First off, we got there on one of the few 90 degree days on Mount Desert Island. I get not having central A/C, but they at least need some window units. The upstairs bedrooms are two tiny saunas and were borderline uninhabitable that first night. Fortunately, we were waking up to see the sun rise on Cadillac Mountain. Didn't have to set an alarm! Second, the stairs. I know a lot of people come to MDI to do challenging hikes involving ladders and rungs, but once you get home, you shouldn't have to do another one to get to your bedroom. These stairs are ridiculous. They can't be up to code, and someone will get seriously injured on them if this place continues to get rented out. It's inevitable. They are not wide enough to walk like a normal person so you kind of have to do this lateral shuffle thing. And they are taller than they are wide. Trust me, it's bad. After deciding not to flee and the weather cooled off, it wasn't so bad. We became pretty good at navigating the stairs. Everything worked in the house, the kitchen was decently equipped with a lot of cookware, a toaster, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, etc. It wasn't sparkling clean, but it wasn't distractingly dirty and the linens and towels were fine. But those stairs? Avoid this one if you aren't desperate.

The beds were terrible. They are old, worn out and lumpy. The stairs going up to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow. They were hard for me to climb and my service dog could not make it up them and actually fell down the stairs. She had lay on the landing all night and not be with me. The couch is old and uncomfortable. The landlord kept putting the privacy screen on the patio up without asking so no privacy. I had a lovely view of the neighbor on the other side in his underwear every morning. The driveway is small and hard to get in and out of and the property itself was difficult to find. Kitchen is stocked with bare minimum yard sale quality dishes and utensils. Stove is very old and dirty. The house is not nearly as nice as the staged photos of it. Overall it sucked.

Property exactly as advertised. Cozy home that is a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia.

We really enjoyed our stay in Seal Harbor. The house was clean, cozi, and a great location for everything Mt. Desert Island has to offer. A return trip is in our future! Thx for the memories

This home is not as advertised. The yard is not enclosed, so you should NOT let the “kids and the dogs play in the enclosed yard, while you watch from the furnished patio.” Your kids or dogs will escape, as mine did.

The WiFi information provided on check in is wrong. And the listing clearly states that “there is no cell service in this area.” When we complained about this after leaving the island (when there was cell service again) we were told that we should have notified a customer agent sooner, as they could have addressed the issue in real time. Obviously, if we had a way to file a complaint during our stay, we would have.

Lastly, the bed linens were stained and soiled. I sent pictures of all the issues listed, and I was told by their customer service agents that nothing could be done. I will be filing a complaint with my credit card company, and I urge anyone looking at this home or planning to book with this agency to look elsewhere.
