Great stay with plenty of room for the 8 of us with great grounds for sledding, neighborhood to walk through, a warm fireplace, and a great living room to gather in. We all enjoyed our stay.

The cabin is perfect. We came up for a ski vacation at Bear Valley with our kids. The cabin is beautiful, spacious, and well equippped. The game selection was amazing as well as the outdoor toys. Small details like night lights and kindling were thought of and provided. Bedding and linens were soft and comfortable. The surrounding area is serene and a welcome rest from the hustle and bustle of real life. We hope to be back for summer fun!

This is second time we have stayed here and we still love it. The cabin has four good sized bedrooms that are warm, clean and perfect for multiple groups. The kitchen is a little small, but totally fine and we cooked every night. Great dinning room table for 8 and plenty of spaces for people to hang out and be in different spaces- we even had two people remote working a few days. Bear Valley skiing is only 30 min drive as well as sno parks along HWY 4. There is a plough for the subdivision as well as drive plough service at the house!

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for, a cozy place with an area to have our kids play in the snow. We all loved the wood burning fireplace and appreciated the chopped wood being readily available. We visited the nearby saloon as suggested and it was great! My only suggestion is to spray for spiders, we killed at least 10 big fat black ones in various parts of the house. I get it’s the mountains lots of trees around, just a gentle suggestion from someone who hates spiders :) thanks for a great place to stay we will definitely visit again!

After several atmospheric rivers Dec 2022-Jan2023, there was a warning not to travel to the Sierra's., we didn't listen. Cabin was great, plenty of room for two families, multiple tv's, video games, board games. Great location with a ton of open space surrounding the home. Easy communication with the owners., they accommodated us due to the bad weather and need for a later check-out, we were snowed in and had to wait for the snowplow to clean the roads of 4 feet of snow. We will definitely return.

lovely neighborhood--utterly quiet and calming--easy access everywhere we wanted to go. T he house is quiet and absorbs people quite well. Everything worked well, we enjoyed the time it afforded us to be together in a friendly and comfortable place. We would be happy to book again.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. There were a few minor things that we wish were a bit better but overall we would be back. We had to do the dishes upon arrival because the majority of dishes in the cabinets still had food in them but had been placed back by the previous guests. Under the couches had candy and there were some other things in the kids room. While I fully understand this is not the property owners fault I do wish they would hire someone to better clean the property. My only other complaint is I wish they provided salt for the stairs leading up. Upon getting there (BRING CHAINS!!! ROADS ARE NOT FRIENDLY) the ice on the stairs made it very difficult to get up to the property. I would be back despite all of this and feel the hosts genuinely care about the property and we’re thankful we had the opportunity to stay in the mountains!

Great for two families. Kitchen well equipped but small. Some dishes and utensils needed cleaning, it appeared they had not been cleaned well before being put into the dishwasher.
Be prepared to walk up many stairs to front door
Collect kindling before trying to start fire in the fire box.

This was a perfect getaway for a hot weekend in CA. Don’t worry about no Central AC in the house, all the fans and the portable AC kept it very comfortable inside. Access to the community pool was a huge perk. Also, place is centrally located to all the lakes and hikes in the area.
We had one minor hiccup and the owners resolved it immediately. Super responsive and thoughtful Owners is definitely in the “pros” column for this property.
Looking forward to another stay in the near future. Thanks Millingtons for letting us enjoy this great property!

I stayed with my kids and my parents. I didn't realize how many steps there were, my parents had a lot of trouble with the outer steps. Thankfully there were bedrooms downstairs! The fact that we went in the summer and there wasn't AC or enough fans were a problem. My mom is very sensitive to heat and we all had trouble sleeping. Also there were a lot of raised nails on the deck so we had to make sure our shoes were on as we walked on the deck. We loved all the games and enjoyed family time.

Always happy
This was the second time staying at this property! Once again we were so very happy with it! Super clean! Has everything you could want in a mountain retreat! We wanted a weekend in the mountains to relax and that is what we got! The owners are great at communicating and supply the cabin with everything you could need! May be a yearly thing!

Check in and out was a breeze, thanks to the thoughtfully thorough instructions. The location was conveniently close to nearby state parks, and just a short drive to Bear Valley. Helpful hosts
Ended up getting stuck due to the snow and the hosts were super helpful and understanding. Cabin was everything we needed for our family Christmas - they even decorated the house for us and had sleds for us to use in the snow. Highly recommend!

Beautiful setting and house!
Loved all the decks around the home and ability to open doors to make most of breeze. Quiet and relaxing. Nice to have bedrooms on both floors and kitchen had everything we need.

Great cabin in the woods
Enjoyed our quiet stay. Easy check in process and plenty of room. Kitchen is a little small but workable. A few issues, no toilet paper refills and no kitchen sponge. It was also very hard to get the AC to work consistently. It was very hot and the nest thermostat kept overriding the preferred temperatures. Would consider again if these minor issues were fixed.

A Beautiful Cabin with Great Decks!
We had a wonderful 4th of July in the Redwood Retreat! Our hosts were extreemly helpful and responsive to my questions. The cabin is laid out in a manner that is condusive to several couples staying here. All of the furniture is comfortable and perfect for watching your favorite shows or sports. However, most of all, we loved the decks and outdoor area which certainly increases the floor space during the summertime! Without question, I would rent this cabin again.

This place exceeded our expectations. The setting is perfect, close to Stanislaus forest/river and Alpine Lake. The home was spacious and clean; beds were very comfortable and showers and kitchen had all we needed.
We enjoyed the large decks under the trees, grilling food with a glass of wine after a day of exploring. Ricky was communicative and the checkin/checkout process was well smooth and easy. Our group of 5 had a fabulous time. Highly recommended!

There is a s’mores kit and the kids loved making them over the campfire.The beds were very, very comfortable. Plenty of towels were supplied as well cooking wear. They had everything this family of 6 plus 2 family friends needed for the weekend.There is a general store about 4 miles away down the road they are very friendly and have some good fresh to order pretzels. If you need other groceries there is a grocery store about 15 mins away. The owners communicated in a timely manner and are very friendly as well. Our daughter picked this place to celebrate her 13th birthday and I’m sure glad she did. We will definitely be staying here again!

The cabin was just like the description, the kids had a great time playing with the snow right on the balcony and sliding down the hill in front of property. Bear Valley was only 25 minutes away! We would definitely stay here again.

Quiet Getaway
We visited this cabin as a quiet start to our Spring Break. Beautiful and quiet location. The cabin had everything you could need plus more. It was very clean and inviting! Close access to snow, views, the river, and Calaveras Big Trees (which we took advantage of with the guest pass they leave in the cabin). We will definitely visit again!

Great Cabin in the Snow
This was a fantastic cabin- very clean and well appointed, comfortable and location was perfect! The owner was very communicative, easy to reach, and great to work with. We were a group of 6 adults and a 6 year old and the cabin was big enough for everyone to have space as well as have group meals and time together. The firepit was perfect and the deck and surrounding woods were peaceful. The other houses are present but not too close, and it was quiet. We definitely loved this cabin- great location for skiing at Bear Valley, visiting Calaveras Big Trees, and tromping around in the woods.
